  1. Solid show today. First two matches were a lot of fun, KENTA-SANADA was an easy skip, and Juice-Naito was really good. The main event saw Tana put on yet another hell of an effort but the interference stuff again dragged things down.
  2. As much as I think the A Block has had the better matches, I get the feeling that they're deliberately holding back or leaving stuff on the table in the main events. Whether it's to run the matches again or wait until crowds can cheer, or maybe they're just taking it easier for the heck of it.
  3. Another good show from the A block today. First two matches were solid if nothing special, the last three were very good to great.
  4. I think the A block still holds the edge, but the B block has been a pleasant surprise. Was expecting it to be a slog and it has not been.
  5. I still maintain Okada has had a good G1, just not up to his usual standards.
  6. Had no idea it was just 9 shows, so yeah that makes sense.
  7. YOSHI-HASHI has over-achieved in G1's before, but man he is on a run isn't he? I wouldn't quite say he's the block MVP, but everything besides the Juice match has been well worth watching. The Naito match is probably his career best.
  8. Travel restrictions will probably also prevent a lot of folks who completed last year from returning. Then again, maybe we'll get an awesome Dick Togo run.
  9. Ha, yep that sums it up perfectly.
  10. The clapping instead of cheering hasn't been great, but I don't think it's a major deterrent either.
  11. Was overall a good show. Everything was worth watching except Shingo-Yujiro which is officially the worst match of the tournament thus far. I enjoyed the ME's but wasn't blown away by them either. Okada-Suzuki was a condensed version of their usual formula. Cobb-Jay had effective and clever circumvention of Gedo interference spots.
  12. One of Rey's finest performances. Puma was good but Rey was the star. The headscissors over the rope only for Puma to land on his feet is still one of my all-time favorite spots. ****1/4
  13. Yeah the messy spots at the end and the slower build kept me from going any higher on the main. The reverse Destino at the end by SANADA was really cool though. He's rather inconsistent but he often delivers in big match settings like this.
  14. B Block today was pretty solid. Juice-Yano was standard Yano fare, so YMMV (I enjoy it). YOSHI-HASHI stepped up yet again and had a very good match with Tana. Loved the story for Goto-Sabre. The main event was very good but man can Naito not hit that running Destino clean. On the flipside, KENTA-EVIL had to be the dullest match of the tournament thus far.
  15. I still think most of Okada's G1 matches have been "good", but this current angle is definitely lame and holding him back. Haven't gotten to today's show yet but B Block has definitely been better than expected.
  16. Yeah for all the talk of Okada needing to drop the Money Clip, SANADA needs to ditch the Skull End.
  17. I still think it was a great match, but it went too long and it was basically what we've seen before.
  18. A Block beats the B Block again. Suzuki-Yujiro was a nice little match thanks to Suzuki just going crazy. Okada-Taichi and Ibushi-Cobb were both very good, and the mains were great.
  19. https://wrestlingworld.co/rumors/reason-why-ceo-harold-meij-left-njpw/ Per Dave, Meij had some pretty big ambitions for the U.S. expansion and NJPW as a whole, hoping to get revenue to $100 million. With COVID and the lack of a TV deal putting a nix on that, maybe that's why he's leaving. Some are also speculating he was the biggest opponent to a working relationship with AEW. But I also don't see them doing that while still working with ROH.
  20. Yeah I would agree with that one.
  21. Pretty good matches today, but I dunno if there was anything truly must-watch. My biggest takeaway is how much of an overachiever YOSHI-HASHI tends to be in the G1.
  22. He's been hit or miss for me since the Juice U.S. title match, but these first three G1 matches might be the best he's ever looked.
  23. I think they would have had a much better chance of making him the babyface they always thought he could be if he had had this heel run first.
  24. Didn't catch the whole match, but just seeing how Reigns was beating down on Jey while talking trash sums up just how big of a dunce Vince is for squandering this for five years.
  25. Cobb has to be the most inconsistent wrestler in the world. I thought he looked really good against Shingo but against Suzuki he fell flat.
