From the Sumpter County Exhibition Center in Sumpter SC. Previously recorded airing on 8/26/88 on the USA Network. On Commentary: Gordon Solie Ring announcer/Interviews: Sean Moony Match #1 Starrcade Series Block B match. "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin w/Precious vs The Super Destroyer w/"Number One" Paul Jones Block B got off to something of an intense start as Garvin didn't hesitate to answer Super D's bending the rules with his own dirty tricks. Ultimately Garvin countered a DDT attempt into a Brainbuster to claim the first win of the block. Match #2 Brad Anderson w/Ole Anderson defeats Ace Jackson with a Fujiwara armbar. Before their match, The Young Stallions join Sean Moony. They put over their history in the northeast as well as Florida and say their ready for the big time so naturally, they've come to the NWA. Match #3 The Young Stallions (Jim Powers & Paul Roma) defeat Matches Malone and Joe Chill with the "Stampede" (Super-plex/ Top rope splash combo) Match 4 "Raging Bull Manny Fernandez vs "The Gatekeeper" Jimmy Golden w/"The Mastermind" Ron Fuller Golden and Fuller were at their devious best, coming up with a number of ways to use the numbers game to their advantage. Still, Fernandez showed why he's one of the favorites by overcoming it all to put the Tennessee native away with the "Flying Burrito". Match #5 The Beasts of Burden (Rip Morgan & Nord the Barbarian) w/"The Notorious" Ox Baker defeat Barry Allen and Oliver Queen with a double big boot to Queen. After the match, Ox got in the ring and hit both men the Heart Punch! Baker and his Beasts go up to Mooney and Ox growls that they aren't finished with the Road Warriors yet! Match #6 Super Strong Machine defeats Alexander Ivo with the "Devil Windmill suplex" Main Event. Starrcade Series Block B match "The Doctor of Desire" Tom Prichard vs "The Ace" Bob Orton w/JJ Dillon This was the most technically sound of the block B matches tonight, though neither man was afraid to throw a punch if they thought it would help. Prichard was lining up for his Superkick when JJ climbed up on the apron. Prichard, not wanting to waste time, simply kicked JJ causing the manager to fall to the floor in a heap. This gave Orton time to collect himself however and he delivered a stiff lariat to the back of Prichard's neck for the win.

Victoria. After a rough re-entry, Spicoli finds his footing. Chono spikes the General. Steamboat shoots down some fan theories but makes it clear he & Adams are here to take the fight to the NoE. Hall breaks the Vampire Warrior. DDP boots Flowers out of the Diamond Exchange. The Dragon wins a dogfight. Pillman nets his first successful defense. Vancouver. Lynn, Christopher and Albright all get solid wins. The Southern Boys keep their title reign and their necks intact. Huge win for Enos with some help from Adams. Windham finds himself having to fend off a Demon, an unusual situation for an NoE member I'm sure. Kelowna. Cactus and the Bulldozer get heated. BT bounces back. St Clair may be "Simply the Best" but Hennig is Perfect. The Gentleman outkicks Kawada. The Malenko's give a good effort but the Midnights hold on to the tag straps. Cheetah Kid rolls on.

Fall Brawl is coming and its already got some buzz with the announcement of new US tag team champions. The Latin Connection certainly know how to get attention. Bart brought a friend in Jimmy Jack Funk but Simmons has caught the eye of some powerful allies. Love Dusty blowing up when he hears a Funk is in WCW. Sting has apparently singled out The Enforcer in the feud with the Horsemen. The US tag tournament gets instant cred with the entry of the Rock n Roll Express! The tag champs continue to walk the line even as they fend off Hart's beasts. Looks like Hot Stuff has decided he's the only one allowed to beat Zenk. After a weeks long tryout, it seems Spivey has finally made the cut.

Poffo proves he's not just Luscious, he's also a Genius! I agree with Nelson, the Bruisers is definitely a fitting name for Busick and Strong. Kerry is up for a rough first test against Abbuda. The Olympians displaying some serious troll energy against Synergy. I guess Sawyer was having too much fun with Colon to quit. The Bees and the Rich Cousins both get some shine ahead of big matches in Winnipeg. Adidas clearly doesn't mind taking a helping hand from Blackwell to retain the TV title. As expected, loads of intensity between the two Russians heading into their clash for the world title.

Everyone please note that I have edited the most recent episode of Worldwide.
-
Congrats to Anjo for getting his first UWF win! The night being filled with submissions allowed Fujiwara and Takada's KOs to stand out. I literally have no idea how Maeda got up from that knee by Vrij. The UWF truly delivered on its biggest stage yet.

Taped at the Macon Coliseum before Main Event. Originally airing on 8/20/88 on the USA Network. On Commentary: Bob Caudle & David Crockett. Brett "Hack" Sawyer defeats The Enforcer with a bridging German suplex. After having his hand raised, he looks down the camera and says "that's how it's done!" "The Franchise" Shane Douglas defeats The Mongolian Mauler with the "Pittsburgh Plunge". "Crippler" Chris Benoit defeats The Pearl with a "Dragon" suplex. Main event. The Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal) defeat The New Breed (Chris Champion & Sean Royal) with the "Doomsday Device" on Champion. In other news.... It's announced that the Starrcade Series will conclude at Fright Night 88 which will air live on the USA Network October 28 from the Richmond Coliseum in Richmond VA. "Raging" Bull Manny Fernandez vs "The Gatekeeper" Jimmy Golden w/"The Mastermind" Ron Fuller. "The Doctor of Desire Tom Prichard vs The Ace Bob Caudle w/JJ Dillon.

From the Macon Coliseum in Macon GA. Previously recorded & airing on airing on 8/19/88 on the USA Network. On Commentary: Gordon Solie. Ring announcer/Interviews: Sean Moony. Starrcade Series Block A match. "Wildcat Wendell Cooley vs The Ugandan Giant Kamala w/"Number One" Paul Jones & Friday The 1988 Starrcade Series is underway and the popular Cooley gets a tough first draw in the monster of the Paul Jones Army. The six man tag champ employs a stick and move strategy that while affective, can't fully withstand the sheer ferocity from Kamala. Cooley goes for the running Bulldog but gets thrown off and crashes to the mat. "Air Africa" follows giving the African headhunter his first two points. Match #2 "The Haitian Sensation" Tyree Pride defeats Bonesaw McGraw with a flying bodypress. We see highlights from the Road Warriors return match at Bash at the Beach. Solie announces that Hawk & Animal will return to NWA TV in the main event of Worldwide tomorrow! Match #3 The Celestial Trinity (Jason the Terrible & Angel of Death) defeat Bob Witte & Louie Capone when Jason pinned Witte with a diving headbutt. Starrcade Series Block A match. Match #4 "Chief" Wahoo McDaniel vs "Tennessee Stud Robert Fuller w/"The Mastermind" Ron Fuller This one was basically a good ol'fashion southern brawl with just a bit of wrestling thrown in for flavor. Wahoo went for his "Tomahawk" chop but Fuller avoided it and caught McDaniel with a chop block which he quickly turned into the "Fuller Lock". Wahoo tried to resist but ultimately had to prioritize his health for the tournament and tapped. Match #5 Junkyard Dog defeats The White Shadow with the "Thump". Dog cuts a promo saying Debeers can run as far and as fast as he wants but this Dog's on the hunt and he ain't stopping till he runs the Colonel to ground! Match #6 Non title. NWA World Tag Team Champions The Four Horsemen (Ole Anderson & Harley Race) w/JJ Dillon defeat The Georgia Bulldogs (Fido & Rover) with a Spike Piledriver to Rover. Main Event. Starrcade Series Block A match. "Rugged" Ron Garvin vs "Chief" Joe Lightfoot Lightfoot was fiercely determined to get his tournament journey off to a good start and took it to Garvin. While he undoubtedly gave a good account of himself, Garvin's greater experience in big matches shone through and he caught Lightfoot with the "Hands of Stone" punch for two points.

The build to SummerSlam is firing on all cylinders.

Night 1. No disrespect to Brian Adams but what everyone will be talking about is the return of Dragon. Christopher with a star making victory over Black Tiger. DDP and the Gentleman? Not a pairing I would've thought of but their a success. The Blood Syndicate with a hard-fought win. Looks like a exciting new rivalry between Hashimoto and Chono. RIP Louie Spicoli. Steve defeats Sinclair with some less than Regal tactics. The Brothers Steamboat go 2 for 2 as the Demon puts down Cactus in a brutal Falls Count Anywhere match. Neidhart falls to the Animal. After a Wild reign, The Midnights are once again holding PCW gold. Rose tried to bring in the Animal but The Playboy had just made too many enemies. The Cheetah Kid closes out the night by fending off a determined Brookside. Night 2. Stormfront continues to surge. Mr Backlund is gonna be so proud of his star student. Thanks to DDP, the DC are back in business. Silver King getting the win kinda surprised me. Probably because I know both these guys from WCW where Dragon was a champion and SK was kinda a also-ran. Footloose and the Express put on a clinic. DDP has certainly built a dangerous crew in record time. Bigelow shows why he is the Beast by putting a hurting on Hart. The Brigade may have won this battle but the war isn't over. Payne shows his improvement in defeat. With Sunshine back in their corner, The Southern Boys get the ultimate payback on the SCS. Looks like Bigelow's business with Flowers is finished, as is his title reign. Come hell or highwater, The Widowmaker held on to the gold.

Bart isn't too impressed with Simmons but Ron's ready to prove he's the Real Deal. Shiek Adnan may not be able to get payback on Dibiase and Williams himself but he's not above outscoring the problem. Hart certainly looks up to the task with the monsters Abby and Goto. We're shaping up for a 3 way feud for the TV title. I wouldn't talk smack about Terri if I were Missy. The Nation of Domination vs The Texas Outlaws will make for some hard-hitting upper mid-card matches. Chaotic TV main event. I love that Flair actually thought Luger would accept the offer to become the 4th horsemen after they had screwed him out of the world title not two minutes earlier!

Great idea with the 2 for 1 gimmick with the Brawl in St Paul. The Kremlin is displeased with Nikita as World Champion and have selected comrade Zhukov to bring the title back to Mother Russia. Even Venomous doesn't know what the Bee's beef is. They'll look to settle it just the same. Larry Z says there's no competition. Larry N disagrees. The Mad Dog isn't done with Colon yet. The Olympians are coming to take on the best and they'll find it in Synergy. Jumbo and the Rose Cousins are ready for Winnipeg. Crusher seems to be overlooking Stevens, that won't end well. Kerry arrives just in time to see a crazy main event and he couldn't resist jumping in.
-
It's only natural that for the UWF's biggest crowd, they bust out their biggest card yet.
-
Well it's sad to see IPW go but it certainly went out with a bang. Not to mention a big surprise as Knighton turns on Ash to help Michaels become the final IPW Heavyweight Champion.
-
Cool idea linking to actual Dave Meltzer articles.

The US tag title tournament is shaping up great. Of the six named teams, my money's on Demolition. The Heenan Family has got two main goals right now, win the tag titles and take out Andre. I like the line up for the Hart Foundation. Loved The Rougeaus claiming to be All Americans. Rockers win a fun main event. Heyman with the Nasties should be fun. Liking the SST as fun babyfaces.
-
Great, organic way to lay out all the happenings at the UWF as they head into their (hopefully) biggest show to date.
-
Los Angeles. Azul Dragon and Silver King wow the crowd in their debut. Likewise, Chono proves himself as the newest member of the Blood Syndicate. The Southern Boys break up a match to get their hands on Scotty. Bam Bam Bigelow is the one laying out the Hart Foundation? Shocker. Curious that Flowers still doesn't look like he knows what's happening. LA night 2. The Beast picks up where he left off. Owen and Eddie put on a clinic. The Force take advantage of a demoralized WC. Rhodes holds no grudges with the Southern Boys in route to a trios win. Brookside builds momentum ahead of his title match with CK. The Brigade have really turned the tide against the NoE. Santa Barbara. Christopher spoils Spicoli's return. Mr Backlund teaches Portmanteau a hard lesson. Steamboat and Cactus get Wild. Pillman outwrestles a Malenko brother. Impressive. Severn and Cheetah Kid endure a tough pair of challengers. Two huge nights of wrestling coming to Phoenix. Night 1 has that classic PCW trope, the mystery team. As well as Christopher's toughest test yet in Black Tiger. As for night 2, Payne take on Mr Backlund could be a sleeper hit while Bret Hart gets a chance at payback on Bigelow.
-
A chaotic end to the gauntlet sees Flair claim his prize and Spivey stake his claim on being a Horsemen. Rhodes, Luger and Sting? What a Babyface trio! Tweener Dibiase and Williams should be a fun site. The Young Guns and the Lightning Express make for exciting additions to the tag division. I gotta feeling Ron Simmons modesty might just rub Reed & co the wrong way. Zenk has a new challenger in Rip Rogers... and a new admirer in Terri Powers.
-
Another exciting Title Night that while no titles changed hands, still gave the fans plenty to talk about. From Adidas' non defense to especially the ending which sees Nikita jumped by two loyal sons of Mother Russia!

Airing live on the USA Network from the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach Florida. "The Doctor of Desire" Tom Prichard won the Beach Break Battle Royal last eliminating Shaska Whatley. Tornado tag match. The Sheepherders (Butch Miller & Luke Williams) w/"Number One' Paul Jones defeat The South Pacific Connection (Siva Afi & Cocoa Samoa) when Jones took advantage of the chaos to hit Afi with the New Zealand flag. NWA United States Tag Team Titles. The Patriots (Firebreaker Chip & Todd Champion)(c) defeat The New Breed (Chris Champion & Sean Royal) when Chris Champion went for a top rope axe handle on Todd Champion who moved causing Chris to hit his own man by mistake. Champs capitalize with the "Emergency Situation" on Chris to retain. Special Challenge Match. The Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal) defeat The Beasts of Burden (Rip Morgan & Nord the Barbarian) w/"The Notorious" Ox Baker when Nord went for a top rope shoulderblock but Animal countered into a powerslam! Huge pop as the result is announced but the Beasts regroup quick to attack the Warriors and it takes the entire security team to get the two sides seperated. Bunkhouse Gangfight. NWA Heritage Champion "Pitbull" Kerry Brown, World's Strongest Man Bill Kazmaier and Buffalo Soldiers (Ranger Ross & Brickhouse Brown) defeat The Stud Stable Robert Fuller, Jimmy Golden, Rod Price & Tommy Cairo) w/"The Mastermind" Ron Fuller when Brown Powerbombed Price through a table. In a video montage, the brackets of the Starrcade Series are revealed to be as follows... Block A: "Rugged Ron Garvin, "The Ugandan Giant" Kamala, "Chief Joe Lightfoot, "Chief" Wahoo McDaniel, "Tennessee Stud" Robert Fuller & "Wildcat" Wendell Cooley. Block B: "Gorgeous" Jimmy Garvin, "The Gatekeeper" Jimmy Golden, "Raging Bull" Manny Fernandez, The Super Destroyer, "The Doctor of Desire" Tom Prichard & "The Ace" Bob Orton. NWA United States Title. Junkyard Dog defeats Col Debeers(c) by DQ when threw referee Randy Anderson in front of a charging JYD. The Dog managed to hit the Thump and make a cover just as senior official Tommy Young got to the ring and called for the bell. The fans initially thought their hero had won the title and let out a huge cheer which quickly turned to jeers when the ruling was announced.
-
Baxter really seems to have the edge over Humperdinck. Cody Michaels gets a major opportunity to take on the champ next week. Riggins' temper has officially reached its boiling point.
-
The Fantastics and the Iceman both have solid returns. Tony Atlas will take his title shot when he's damn well ready! Good showcase for the Powerhouse. Wow, one match and you've already made more out of Tom Brandi then I ever did. De Bees and Venomous collide in Winnipeg on the road to the Brawl in St Paul. Family feud time baby! Rich's vs Roses. Jumbo and Fujinami trade blows to close the show. Hyped for Title Night.
-
I'd say it's safe to say that the UWF Reborn proved two things tonight. 1. They can sellout a show outside of Tokyo. 2. Maeda doesn't have to be in the main event to sellout.
-
It would be delightful to work with you both.
