Hercules is a natural fit for the Heenan family. Likewise, it seems HTM has found his way to the Hart Coalition. I can see Muta and Konnan doing well here, from what I know, late 80s WWF was all about the colorful characters.

Baxter gets the win but Humperdinck and his ladies make him pay. Solid win for the Cowboy. Riggins search for a new partner continues. No don't the biggest news being the NEW International tag team champions, Bruno and the Plowboy!

From Center Stage Theater in Atlanta Ga. Previously recorded airing on 8/5/88. On Commentary: Gordon Solie. Ring announcer/Interviews: Sean Moony. Match #1 "The Franchise" Shane Douglas vs Barry O Douglas quickly made fans of the young ladies in the audience with his muscular build and blonde hair. The Dominic DeNucci trainee displayed solid skills in both technical wrestling as well as brawling before putting O away with a Fisherman brain buster Solie refered to as the "Pittsburgh Plunge." Match #2 The Samoan Island Tribe (Fatu & Alofa) defeat The Georgia Bulldogs (Fido & Roover) when Alofa crushed Fido with a 400 lbs Samoan drop. We see a video recap of the brawls between the South Pacific Connection and the Sheepherders and it's announced that the two teams will meet at Bash at the Beach in the Tornado tag match. Match #3 "The Latin Heartthrob" Al Perez defeats El Hombre Ennascarado with a bridging German suplex. Match #4 Buffalo Soldiers (Ranger Ross & Brickhouse Brown) vs Muscle Beach (Rod Price & Tommy Cairo) w/"The Mastermind" Ron Fuller The latest Stud Stable recruits displayed their power early and frequently clearly trying to overwhelm their opponents with sheer brute force. Ross and Brown used their experience to try and wear the musclemen down. Ross looked to be lining up for the "Combat Kick" when Fuller reached in and grabbed his leg. Ross kicked him off and charged ahead but ran into a double spinebuster slam for the 1...2...3. Match #5 The Beasts of Burden (Rip Morgan & Nord the Barbarian) w/"The Notorious" Ox Baker defeat Larry Bobert & Marty Greene with a double big boot to Greene. *Baker leads his Beasts to a clearly nervous Mooney* SM: W,well Ox that was certainly a dominant victory. What inspired you to put these two monsters together? Ox: You want to know why I put this Beasts together Mooney? Two reason, I like to hurt people, and I like to get paid for it and with these two I can do both as much as I want. Now answer a question for me little man, I hear that NWA officials have been looking for a team for the Road Warriors first match back from Japan, is that true? SM: Yes sir. Ox: well look no further. Road Warriors, you may have convinced everyone else you're the most dangerous team in wrestling but you haven't fooled me. The NWA belongs to the Beasts and at Bash at the Beach the whole world is going to see why. Match #6 Junkyard Dog defeats The Syrian with the Thump. *Dog cuts a promo promising he's not done with Debeers and is still after the US title* Main event. "Raging Bull" Manny Fernandez vs The Super Destroyer w/"Number One" Paul Jones A hard-hitting main event that sees the popular Fernandez put the masked man down with the "Flying Burrito"

Looks like Billionaire Ted forgot to clear his plans with the Macho Man. Ted's loss is Tulsa's gain as we get a huge 5 man gauntlet to crown a new champ. Dibiase and Williams certainly worked out their differences, becoming the new WCW World Tag Team Champions. But it looks like the Rock n Roll Express is already on their trail. Zenk vs Gilbert to see who the REAL TV champ is. If I were Flair or Anderson, I'd definitely want Spivey on my side.

Edited my comment appropriately.

Oakland. Christopher is on an absolute tear. Joe Malenko teaches Portmanteau a lesson. Barr almost crazies himself a win against Pillman. Taker just dug two more graves for the Brigade. RPG is out the door. San Francisco. Footloose with a solid opening win. Regal slips past PCO. Brian wins the battle of the Lee's. Ferrari helps Rose hold on to the gold. Haynes snaps and Bedlam suffers the consequences. The Neighborhood may have finally crossed the line with the Brigade. Fresno. Stormfront with a huge win over the Blood Syndicate. Cactus perhaps puts up more of a fight then Hall expects. Tenryu shows Tony who the real Tough guy is. 1,000 holds wasn't enough to beat Hashimoto. The Express run over the Force. Flowers retains thanks to a mystery man... who's even a mystery to him.

Synergy & Los Guerreros seem to have agreed on a nice, friendly match. Let's see how that goes. Poffo is full of confidence heading into his World title shot. The Glamour Boys have been through some tough fights lately and are ready for some gold as their reward. Johnny Rich says no more Mr Nice Guy. Busick is after both the Mid-America title and some payback on Larry Z. Fujinami tries to talk some sense into his partner but Jumbo isn't having it. Vin Man has a shiny new tag team and he's leading them to the top. Yeah! Loni has given Adidas a taste of the highlife. Let's see if the A-lister can focus enough to defend against Kelly. The Asylum tries to take out the Warrior but the Gunslingers ride to the rescue.

Solid card heading to Sapporo.

Humperdinck just can't let his beef with Shawn Baxter go. The Renesto Brothers get the better of Riggins this time. Bruno and Jaime clearly aren't happy being stuck between Bill and the Plowboy.
-
A suggestion for roster cap, instead of setting a fixed number for every roster to use each promotion could use the same number of talent used irl. Each promoter could then decide how big or little their roster is.
-
Nice to see Hot Rod got a decent run with the title. Rude has a vice grip on the IC title. Same for Demolition with the tag straps.

I've played three different games on this site, I'm currently in Dawn of War, I was in the 1981 game before it shut down and I'm kinda in the Battle of the Ages but that one's mostly dead. In addition to the ones I've played personally, I've seen several other games set in various periods, 2019, 93, 95 and another in 83. But one year that I think would serve as a good starting point that I haven't seen used is 1991. I feel this is something of a missed opportunity as looking back the wrestling landscape at this time looks quite interesting in hindsight. Here's a rundown of the various companies that operated at various points in the year. WWF and WCW: established as the business leaders. The latter would have a rough year in 91 admittedly but that seems down to backstage drama instead of a lack of in-ring talent. USWA: the latest iteration of Jerry Jerrett's legendary Memphis territory, the United States Wrestling Association represents a territory that has likely missed its chance at the big time but still had some good times ahead, such as producing the PWI's feud of the year in 92. Smokey Mountain Wrestling: Widely considered a hidden gem of early to mid 90s wrestling, SMW was a throwback territory guided by Jim Cornette's traditionalist sensibilities. While you could argue such a promotion always had a limited shelflife, many agree it made excellent use of what time it did have. Global Wrestling Federation: Long ridiculed for its infamous "Moon rock" angle, the GWF actually has a fascinating place in wrestling history, launching the careers of men like Raven, Cactus Jack, Marcus Bagwell (as the Handsome Stranger), The Patriot & Harlem Heat. It also enacted several innovations like acknowledging a wrestler's previous history or when a wrestler would leave for another promotion. Universal Wrestling Federation: Herb Abraham's UWF was a shit show of epic proportion, but their was an undeniable level of talent and there's a sense that under more stable leadership it could have amounted to something special. AWA: I know the American Wrestling Association was technically defunct but Verne Gagne ran two shows in Minnesota during the year as well as releasing a tape of Hulk Hogan highlights so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch for a writer to revive it. I may be overlooking some promotion or another but I think you get the point. 91 was an eventful year in pro wrestling history and would be a natural setting for any future game. Though to be clear i'm not proposing we start such a game at this exact time.

Appreciate the detailed description of how you intend to run things. I'm not totally ignorant regarding Lucha Libre but I know basically nothing about CMLL. I love all these tough macho artists coming out to classical orchestra music.

The Jesters show they aren't clowning around. Barbarian looks strong after a competitive win over Roma. Konnan leads his team to victory. Duggan and Matt are looking good together. Roberts wins a disappointing match with Rotundo. Muta retains in a nailbiter. Honestly surprised that neither Arn or Flair won a title. Savage withstands the power of the gods to retain his title. The Rockers get their belts back and definitely send the fans home happy.

Portland. Barr and Cactus prove that whether win or lose, the Wild Things are as dangerous as ever. Okay, Rose giving a shout-out to Adonis was actually kinda sweet. His reaction to hearing that the Diamond Exchange had also been banned from his next title match cracked me up. Starr pays the price for what happened to Sunshine. Flowers goes to extreme lengths to retain against PCO. Hart puts an exclamation point on his feud with Miller. Portland night 2. To the "shock" of everyone, The Hangman is revealed to be Bull Pain. Haynes wins a hossfest. Two bad nights for Starr. Rose with another tough retention. Pillman keeps his momentum going. Windham holds off Payne but comes out with a bad arm. Eugene. The Can-Am/Footloose rivalry heats up. Owen rebounds with a win over Candido. Taker buries the General. Fuchi is a tough test but Severn holds on. Tenryu with another commanding win. Cheetah Kid freezes out the Iceman.
-
Being under the Headliner's tutelage is already paying off for Knighton. The story of the night is the beef between Bill Dundee and the big Plowboy. Throw in the return of Fargo as well as Jamie and Bruno seemingly trying to claim neutrality then you've got an interesting episode long story.

Great opening to the show with Nikita as the new world champion. Larry Z is predictably unrepentant for the WrestleRock Walkout. Norvell is all in on Atlas and the Man of Steel has his eyes on the gold. The Bee's remain tight-lipped about their recent actions. Davey Rich takes advantage of a depressed Randy Rose but Johnny isn't impressed with how he did it. Tiger Jeet Singh is back and The Asylum is ready to wreck havoc. Say goodbye to The Fortune Ones and hello to the "Fortune One" Gary Royal under the guidance of Dream Machine babay! Badd Company is riding high to the delight of Baby Doll. The Peterson/Kelly feud needed something fresh and we get it with the arrival of Tatum and Victory.
-
Gary Hart International is just about ready to implode. Borne and Duggan look solid as a unit. Rotundo doesn't know what he's agreed to. Flair and Double A are both poised for gold. The Wrestlefest is stacked. I don't know why but I really like the idea of Roma taking on the Barbarian.

NWA July Recap. The Four Horsemen The Four Horsemen are certainly riding high in the summer of 88. While the losses of Arn Anderson & Terry Taylor was an undeniable blow, they more then recovered with the addition of seven time World Heavyweight Champion Harley Race and double tough "Cowboy" Bob Orton. Tully Blanchard stands on the top of mountain and since the Great American Bash has been defending the Ten Pounds of Gold against the likes of Tom Prichard, Ron Garvin and another challenger we'll speak of later. Race & Ole Anderson likewise have planted their flag stop the tag team division and are daring any two "young punks" to knock them off. So far, their main challengers have been The Renegade Warriors and The Zero Fighters but there's increasing chatter of reunited Freebirds duo Michael Hayes and Jimmy Garvin are positioning themselves for a shot. Orton currently stands as the sole Horsemen without gold but the "Ace" has wasted no time positioning himself as a top contender to either the United States or Heritage Titles. Bash at the Beach. On the July 16 episode of NWA Worldwide it was announced that the next NWA TV special would be Bash at the Beach which would air from the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach Florida on August 12th. Two huge announcements have been made for the event. It will see the makeup of this year's Starrcade Series as well as the return of the ROAD WARRIORS! Amassing the troops. After a gruelling Wargames that saw his Army go down in defeat, Paul Jones has set about (once again) restructuring his unit. The Nightmares' ejection came as no surprise considering one of them had surrendered at the Bash. Somewhat more surprising was the reveal that Matt Borne had decided to move on. Regardless Jones has rebuilt with a vengeance. He's first hire was the "Black Bullet" Shaska Whatley whom Jones has worked with in territories such as WCCW and the AWA. The true shock came when Jones revealed he had signed the increasingly unhinged Sheepherders. Miller & Williams have shown more aggression than ever since the passing of their former manager JR Foley which seems to suit Jones just fine. The Stud Stable. Speaking of restructuring, Ron Fuller has released Tough Guy Inc saying they'd "proven they ain't Stud Stable material". In their place he's brought in a pair of muscular specimens from the west coast in the form of "The California Stud" Rod Price and the "Ironman" Tommy Cairo. Another main focus has been Robert Fuller's quest to regain the NWA Heritage Title from Kerry Brown. There have already been a few rematches between the two but due to interference from their various allies, the matter remains unsettled. New tag teams make waves. A trio of fresh tag teams have been drawing attention as of late. Aces High consisting of NWA regular Johnny Ace now teaming with his brother Mark have delighted fans with their blend of Johnny's technical skill with Mark's raw power. Another returning face is Fatu, formerly one half of The Islanders, now paired with 400 pound monster Alofa as the Samoan Island Tribe. The duo have declared "tribal warfare" on the entire division. But easily the most imposing duo has been assembled, or more accurately reassembled, by none other than "The Notorious" Ox Baker who has brought in Nord the Barbarian who alongside Rip Morgan have reformed the Beasts of Burden. Fans of the AWA already know the destruction these two can wreak together and they've picked up right where they left off, dismantling several duos before finishing them off with a double boot to the face. The Raging Bull. Manny Fernandez is back in the NWA and has made it perfectly clear that he's come back for one thing, the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. Fernandez had already managed a shot at the Ten Pounds of Gold, winning a battle royal in Richmond allowing him to challenge later in the night. Blanchard escaped with the title in tact thanks to a blatant low blow but Fernandez remains undeterred in his quest for wrestling's top prize.

NWA signs Ox Baker as a manager.
-
Nakano gets the win but Suzuki enters a star making performance. Go looks like a killer ahead of a k.o victory. Yamazaki scores the win in an even bout. Takada defeats the cagey Fujiwara. Maeda goes 2-0 and perhaps proves he's Gotch's best student.
-
I think we all figured Benoit and Anderson would meet in the finals. Glad to see Ware put up a fight. Meanwhile Flair has a date with Spivey for the US title. Nice compromise with the Big Josh gimmick, keeping the recognizable name to go with the lumberjack outfit. Roberts with some chilling words for Rotundo. Looks like Hart is willing to go all in Muta as the cash cow. Slick is certain his man Hercules can bring the World title home. A huge night of wrestling is coming to Wrigley Field.

Brookside looks to get his belt back while Severn seeks to add a second title to his collection.

Victoria. Stormfront continues to roll with a win over Footloose. The Bulldozer starts to correct course. The Demon overcomes an increasingly manic Barr. Scotty's behavior in the mixed tag makes even Rose uncomfortable. Burke with a rare singles win over Cyrus. Pillman stands tall after a tremendous finals to the Tournament of Lions. Vancouver. Bedlam wins a slugfest against PCO. The Brigade with a solid win over the Holly Cousins. Lee and the Force gel well in trios action. Can-Am and the Malenko Brothers go long. Bret with another tough win over Miller. Haynes takes his eye off the ball and Windham makes him pay. Kelowna. Lynn and Christopher win the battle of the odd couples. Regal gets a dirty win over his former teacher. Payne scores on Brookside. A rare loss for the Blood Syndicate. Tenryu quickly corrects course. Another successful defense for Flowers.
