NWA releases Bruiser Bedlam. NWA welcomes back the Angel of Death.

2 nights, 16 matches, 100% chance I'm tuning in!

Dream Machine may rue the day he decided to become a problem for Nikita. Frency has his men set to correct course in the tag team battle royal. Larry Z ain't sweating young Alvin a bit. Another hossfest ends in a beat down as the feud between Peterson & Ferris rolls on. Sorry Gregy boy, daddy can't help you outta this one. Here's hoping Canek gets his belt back. The Iaukea's send Colon a pain-filled message. Can't overlook the Technicians. Adams is ready to show Zenk who is the true master of the Superkick. Morrow's training seems to be hitting a snag. The Road Warriors vs The Bruise Brothers at SuperClash 2!? Shut up and take my money! The OG Midnights get the mental edge heading into the big six man tag. Great closing scene as Brown lays a beatdown on the King with a baseball bat.

Madness looks like a beast as he mauls Ware in the opener. Wild Bill nets victory for him & the Warriors in a bloody Bunkhouse match. Spivey hitting the Powerbomb on Barbarian must've been quite the visual. Garvin never hesitates to take a shortcut if it leads to a win. Casey slays the monster Kamala. This title reign is doing wonders for him. Jones takes a few lumps but helps the Natural escape the Dragon. I would've lost my damn mind when I realized I was gonna see the Road Warriors take on the Rock n Roll Express. That & a successful defense makes a perfect ending to the tag title match. Randy makes his little brother look like a million bucks. Crazy ending with Garvin & Precious taking Elizabeth hostage. That would've gotten straight up nuclear heat. Bammer achieves the dream by defeating the Legend Race to become the new Windy City champion.

Ladd's show starts with a impressive win over Kazmaier. After joining up with Wahoo, Ivan may have decided that Petrov is surplus material. Adams helps his leader to a win. Thanks to Hot Stuff Inc, Robley's monsters have their long-sought tag gold. Rich costs the Cartel their job but may have taken Mulligan out anyway. Wahoo gets caught in the act and gets so pissed he takes everybody out. Tully fought a hell of a fight but Dr Death retains....for now. Watts' show begins with Cox getting back on track and perhaps sending a message to his old teacher. Benoit wins a barnburner. How nice of Wright to try and "help" Steven's opponent back in the ring. Steiner & Hernandez retain their titles and seem to be really jelling as a team. Bad news: Muta lost. Good news: Woman got the mist! The Cartel didn't have any trouble finding a new employer. Luger retains thanks to Woman & Vader. Throw in the Cartel jumping Watts and we've got a perfectly chaotic UWF ending.

First up Victoria. Acevedo spikes Chavo Classic sending a message on behalf of the Diamond Exchange. PCW will always remember the birth of The Undertaker! Haynes may have been bruised but he was still too much for AoD. Severn & Furnas find a new home in the Army as Jarrett & Douglas head off in search of new challenges. Flowers wins a tough one against PCO. Simmons & Dingo both move on leaving the Brigade down to two who may not be on the same page. Wild Things try to turn their momentum into a title reign but it's not too be. Onwards to Vancouver. Morton rebounds with a win over Hito. St Clair becomes the first to rest in peace. The new head coach of the Army sends Maeda out of town. Douglas does the classy thing and goes out on his back. Los Guerreros add their names to the list of talent moving on. Hennig fends off the former champ for his first defense. Last stop Kelowna. Jarrett follows Douglas' lead and goes out putting BT over. Furnas' first win in the Army is over the deserter Cactus. Flowers & the General let their mutual loathing overflow. It seems Snow has reached his breaking point with the Knights Templar. Flyin' Brian stops Brookside's quest to become a double champion. Windham's hopes to end 87 a champion don't pan out but he definitely has a rematch coming in 88. Quite the youth revolution coming in. I can't wait to meet the Hollywood Vampires.

NWA releases Johnny Ace. NWA signs Bruiser Bedlam.

Moretti survives Singh and sets her sights on the US title. LeRoux out-cheats Leather. Big win for the Star Girls. Richter retains over Nellie and says she isn't sweating Moretti.

Taped at the Asheville Civic Center before WCW. Originally airing on 11/20/87 on the USA Network. With your host "The Dean of professional wrestling" Gordon Solie! The Stud Stable (Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden) defeat The Carolina Bobcats with a Spike Piledriver on Bobcat #2. Tom "MegaMan" McGee defeats "Tough" Tony Falk with a slingshot legdrop. The Dirty White Boys (Len Denton & Tony Anthony) defeat George South & Rocky King when Anthony pinned South after a double big boot. Main event. Winner challenges for the NWA World Television Title at Starrcade. Giant Haystacks w/Ms Linda defeats "Mr Excitement" Johnny Ace with a 600 pound elbowdrop. In other news.... Solie announces two new tag matches signed for Starrcade. First The South Pacific Connection will face off against recent rivals Radiance. Second after being at each other's throats for months now, Spartanburg Vice & the New Breed will settle their differences when they meet in a double dog collar match where the losing team will leave the NWA! They point out they're her because of an open challenge and "in the interest of paying it forward" they announce their own open challenge for Starrcade.

From the Asheville Civic Center in Asheville NC. Previously recorded & airing on 11/19/87. On Commentary: Bob Caudle & Tony Schiavone Ring announcer: David Crockett "The Haitian Sensation" Tyree Pride vs "Chief" Joe Lightfoot Pride defeated Lightfoot in a minor upset two weeks ago & the Chief was so shocked he insisted on a rematch. Pride's superior speed continued to be his greatest weapon though Lightfoot had a bit better time keeping the match at his preferred pace. The finish sees Pride getting into position for his flying Bodypress only for Lightfoot to trip and "accidentally" knock the referee into the ropes crotching Pride on the top turnbuckle. Lightfoot scales the ropes and brings his opponent down with a superplex to win round 2. Might we see a rubber match soon? "Jumping" Jim Brunzell vs Luke Williams Brunzell certainly had his hands full with the New Zealand wildman who took the Bee's best shots and kept coming back for more. Things start to break down when Butch Miller runs to ringside. Though security intercepts him, the commotion causes enough of a distraction for Williams to grab the New Zealand flag he brought to the ring & strike Brunzell in the ribs while Miller was escorted to the back. Apparently wanting to make it look good for the ref, Williams picks his foe up for a gutbuster followed by the inevitable three count. B. Brian Blair vs "Superstar" Bill Dundee w/ Ms Linda As credited as Blair is in tag team wrestling, his lack of experience in singles action puts him at a distinct disadvantage against the veteran Dundee. Blair fought hard but the Australian born Superstar always found a way to cut off his momentum. Dundee looked to finish things with "Bomb's Away" only for Blair to roll through ending up on top for the upset victory. "Exotic" Adrain Street w/ Ms Linda vs Butch Miller The story of this match is Street not only out-wrestling Miller but being able to stand his ground when the mad Kiwi tried to turn the match into a brawl. After a physical match, Street is able to lock Miller in a cross-face chicken wing with the Sheepherder eventually passing out after a frantic escape attempt. NWA World Television Title "Lord" Jonathan Boyd(c) vs The Grappler 2 Nothing fancy here with the Aussie & Texan having a good ol' fashioned game of "who can hit the other guy harder?". After a intense fight that leaves both men bruised, Grappler 2 runs the ropes for a Lariat but Boyd ducks under it and when the masked man turn around Boyd clamps on the Iron Claw. Using his own leg, Boyd is able to sweep Grappler 2 off his feet and with great strain is able to hold him down for three. Tag Team battle royal. Winners challenge for the NWA United States Tag Team Titles at Starrcade. Teams have been eliminated when both members have been thrown over the top rope. Order of elimination.... Spartanburg Vice & the New Breed rush each other leading to a spot where Lou Winston tosses Sean Royal at the exact moment Chris Champion eliminates Jerry Bryant before they start brawling with each other..... allowing Fidel Sierra to hit a double clothesline sending them both out. Ray Candy gets a measure of payback by eliminating Jason the Terrible. Cocoa Samoa is eliminated by Radiance working together. JImmy Del Ray is eliminated by Siva Afi. Zodiac is eliminated by Hiroshi Hase Hase is eliminated by Ricky Santana immediately afterwards. Fidel Sierra shocks the crowd by bench pressing Sweet Brown Sugar and throwing him into Ray Candy eliminating both members of Good & Plenty at the same time. Siva Afi is eliminated by Chic Donavon & Ricky Santana. Chic Donavon is eliminated after a miscommunication with Fidel allows Yamada to throw him over. After a few minutes fighting both men, Yamada seems to have Santana gone only for him to land on the apron. Santana then proceeds to grab Yamada in a front-face lock and begins shouting at Sierra. Fidel nods and rushes over sending Yamada over at the cost of eliminating his own partner. Winners: Los Cubanos!

Once again two stacked cards that would have me torn as to which one to choose. I will say I think the cards are more evenly balanced in terms of story this time. Were ppv's available after they originally aired at this point? Because if so I might have ended up watching Watt's card live then watching Ladd's on repeat.

Night 1 begins with a marque win for Payne. Furnas drives his point home against Hito. The young Bull bests Double J. Morton may have eaten the pin but he proved to the Diamond Exchange he isn't backing down. At long last, Severn claims vengeance on Maeda. Anvil sends Young packing and may have driven Snow away while he was at it. Barr & Guerrero get a major win over the former champs. Red gets desperate and pulls out the dreaded Heart punch against Bubba! Looks like Bearer was right all along. The Sawyers bring the fight but British Steel retain the gold. Backlund escapes SSM by the skin of his teeth. In a thrilling main event, the Snowbirds tear it up with Pillman emerging with his title intact. Night 2 begins with the Malenko brothers win a classic with Los Guerreros. Gizz & PCO defeat their replacements in the Playboy Club sending Khan out of PCW. Damn! Wasn't expecting Dingo to be the one to go. Sid being gone likely has the whole roster breathing a sigh of relief. BT reasserts himself against Sabu. Finlay falls to a now merged Playboy Club/Diamond Exchange. Billy Jack has to dig deep to overcome Cactus. Cornette's bad time in San Diego continues with a loss to the Southern Boys. After a long & brutal war, Windham finally slays the monster OMG. Ed is a surprisingly gracious loser as he congratulates the Hitman on his new title. The growing tension between the Bomb Squad comes to a head and you just know that Mr Backlund isn't going to be pleased they dropped the gold to Coast 2 Coast. Hennig pulls off the moment of a lifetime as he becomes the new Pacific Heavyweight Champion! Credit to Bock for keeping it classy to the end. The Hennig era of PCW has begun.

Taped at the Winthrop Coliseum before WCW. Originally airing on 11/13/87 on the USA Network. With your host "The Dean of professional wrestling" Gordon Solie! The Sheepherders (Butch Miller & Luke Williams) defeat George South & Rocky King when Miller grabbed Williams in a headlock and drove his head into South's chest like a battering ram. "Raging Bull" Manny Fernandez defeats "Tough" Tony Falk with the "Flying Burrito" Iceman Parsons w/Slick defeats Dark Ninja with a Piledriver. Main event. Winner challenges for the NWA World Television Title on next week's WCW. The Grappler 2 defeats Barry O with a running knee lift. In other news..... Solie announces that the main event of next week's WCW will be a tag team battle royal with the winners challenging The S&S Express for the NWA United States Tag Team Titles at Starrcade. The teams involved will be.... Spartanburg Vice The New Breed The South Pacific Connection Radiance Good & Plenty Los Cubanos Zodiac & Jason the Terrible Keiichi Yamada & Hiroshi Hase. Solie also excitedly announces that at Starrcade the national anthem will be sung by none other than the legendary Ray Charles!

From the Winthrop Coliseum in Rock Hill SC. Previously recorded & airing on 11/12/87 on the USA Network. On Commentary: Bob Caudle & Tony Schiavone Ring Announcer: David Crockett Tom "MegaMan" McGee vs Ron Slinker While Slinker's martial arts credentials certainly gave McGee trouble with the Karate champion scoring several punishing blows, the former TV champion overcame the barrage to score his slingshot legdrop for the victory. Good & Plenty (Ray Candy & Sweet Brown Sugar) Zodiac & Jason the Terrible The former Six Man Tag champs have been in a rut since losing the gold and it was clearly grating on them, with the masked duo launching a all-out assault from the opening bell. Candy & Sugar aren't keen to let anyone push them around leading to a surprisingly physical match. The fight put up by their opponents just seem to drive Zodiac & Jason further over the edge leading to Jason seeming to snap and floor Candy with a sickening headbutt. Instead of going for the cover however, he mounts the big man and rains down headbutts until referee Nick Patrick has to intervene and stop the match citing Candy's inability to defend himself. There's an uncomfortable quiet as medics tend to a bloody Candy while Jason & Zodiac are clearly happy to be back on the winning track. Cocoa Samoa vs "Gigolo" Jimmy Del Ray w/"Sensational" Sherri Martel The first of two singles encounters between rival teams for tonight sees Samoa light Del Ray's chest up with stinging chops while Del Ray leans into his superior wrestling ability. Cocoa had his foe up for a Samoan drop when Martel got on the apron distracting the ref allowing her man to rake Cocoa's eyes before pulling him down in a crucifix for the tainted win. "The Polynesian Prince" Siva Afi vs "Golden Boy" Chic Donavon w/"Sensational" Sherri Martel A rematch of the encounter that started this rivalry, there seemed to be a little extra heat to this one. Several moments changes culminate in Afi hitting his jumping headbutt outta nowhere to end tonight with a score of 1-1. "Shooting Star" Keiichi Yamada vs Col Debeers Debeers may have claimed his actions at Fright Night were dedicated to putting Smiley in his place, Yamada took exception to being collateral damage and demand a match with NWA officials reportedly telling the Col he wouldn't be able to back out of this one like he did last week. Yamada gave the imposing Afrikaner his toughest test to date, blitzing him with highspeed offense and scoring several near falls. However a missed "Shooting Star Press" created an opening which Debeers immediately capitalized on with the face first Piledriver. The Johansburg naitve may have been bent over and sucking wind but his undefeated streak was intact and one could sense that for Debeers, that was enough. NWA World Television Title "Lord" Jonathan Boyd(c) vs "British Magician" Steve Wright Curiously, Boyd seemed to be hesitant to engage in any rulebreaking behavior, perhaps out of respect for his opponent who is himself a resident of the Commonwealth. The result of this is a competitive but clean contrast of styles with Wright's pure technical style clashing with Boyd's straight forward brawling. Wright nearly puts Boyd out with a sleeper hold but the Aussie gets out by charging forward and ducking his head through the ropes causing Wright to collide with the top rope throat first. Seeing what may be his best opportunity to retain his title, Boyd looks on the "Iron Claw" and after a fierce struggle is able to hold Wright down for a three count.

We get a great start with the announcement of some major matches. Nikita vs Dream Machine, Idol vs Keirn in a grudge match, Perez passes up a shot at gold to get Zbyszko in a taped fist match and Brown challenging Lawler to a Ghetto street fight. What a card already and there's definitely more to come. Blackwell is looking confident that he's about to become a millionaire. The Clash Countdown tag team battle royal has so many potential winners I'm not confident in picking who's taking the whole thing. Adams makes his debut and shocks everyone by joining up with Baby Doll to drop the Z-man. Colon says he'll be ready at SuperClash but is he truly prepared for what Abbuda can do? D'aaawww what a heartwarming scene as Brenda, Fergie & Wells come together to get Morrow back on his feet. Another countout between Busick & Strong leads to Jerrett booking the two to settle their differences inside a steel cage! SuperClash 2 is gonna 87 off with a bang!

Taped at the Township Auditorium before WCW. Originally airing on 11/6/87 on the USA Network. With your host "The Dean of professional wrestling" Gordon Solie! Ron Slinker defeats Dark Ninja (Hase) with a Roundhouse kick. Commando Boone defeats Mitch Snow with a big splash. The Stud Stable (Robert Fuller & Jimmy Golden) defeat Rocky King & George South with a Spike Piledriver on King. Main event. Winner challenges for the NWA World Television Title on next week's WCW. "British Magician" Steve Wright defeats Jason the Terrible with the "Octopus hold" In other news.... Solie recaps the announcement of Starrcade 87 which will air live on Pay Per View from the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro NC. He says the event will be offered at a special "holiday discount" and he confirms three huge title matches. Due to the inconclusive finishes both at Fright Night & last night's WCW, Adrian Street Bill Dundee will defend the NWA World Tag Team Titles in a three-way elimination match against both the Killer Bees and The Sheepherders. Second Stan The Lariat Hansen will defend the NWA United States Title against Bruiser Brody as a result of the finish to the Fright Night main event. Finally as reward for winning the Starrcade Cup, Buddy Landel will challenge Ric Flair in the "Battle of the Nature Boys" with the NWA World Heavyweight Title on the line!

From the Township Auditorium in Columbus SC. Previously recorded & airing on 11/5/87 on the USA Network. On Commentary: Bob Caudle Tony Schiavone Ring Announcer: David Crockett "The Haitian Sensation" Tyree Pride vs "Chief" Joe Lightfoot A fun opener based around Pride using his speed & agility to frustrate the larger Lightfoot. The Chief's brawling does do a number on the Haitian star who spends a good portion of the bout fighting from underneath. The finish comes outta nowhere with Lightfoot whipping Pride into the corner only for the popular Port-au-Prince naitve to scale the ropes and come off with a crossbody for the sudden win. Lightfoot was in shock after the bell and had a passionate argument with the ref on wether or not he was sure that was a three count. "Shooting Star" Keiichi Yamada "Super Rookie" Hiroshi Hase vs Tough Guy Inc (Don Bass & Duke Myers) Both sides are looking for something of a reset, Yamada was unsuccessful in capturing the TV title caught in the crossfire of the brewing Commonwealth civil War while the Tough Guys went down in defeat in a effort to win the six man titles. Bass & Myers lay some stiff shots on the Japanese tandem. However Hase's grappling ability combined with Yamada's athleticism turn the tide with Yamada synching the win with the "Shooting Star Press" on Bass. The South Pacific Connection (Siva Afi & Cocoa Samoa) vs The Minnesota Wrecking (Arn & Ole Anderson) w/JJ Dillon With Arn giving his full attention to the Starrcade Cup as of late, the Andersons haven't been a prominent presence in the tag division. You wouldn't know that by watching them however with the former World Tag Team Champions picking up right where they left off with crisp teamwork and arm-based offense. Afi & Samoa put up quite the fight leaving red marks across both Horsemen's chests. As firey as their performance is it isn't enough with Afi falling to Spinebuster from Arn. Now that they're focused again, one wonders how long it will take the Anderson's to get back into the tag title picture? The Killer Bees (B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell) vs The Sheepherders (Butch Miller & Luke Williams) Williams & Miller caused quite the ruckus at Fright Night when they interrupted the World Tag Title match to attack Street & Dundee which also earned them the ire of Brunzell & Blair leading to the Bees demanding a match tonight. The New Zealanders tore into their opponents with a borderline feral fury with the referee repeatedly threatening them with disqualification. Give the Bees credit because they give as good as they get leading to a tense back-and-forth match. The finish sees the chaos taken to another level as Street & Dundee decide to return the favor and rush the ring leading to another six man brawl with security scrambling to keep the three teams apart. (The next bout is scheduled to be Col Debeers challenging Norman Smiley for TV title. However before the bell rings, the Col grabs the mic from Crockett at ringside) Col: Allow me to make myself perfectly clear, my actions at Fright Night were meant to demonstrate two things, exactly how far you and the pack of degenerates you travel with fall short of being worthy representatives of the Commonwealth and perhaps more importantly, it was clear you needed to be put in your place boy. That a hoodlum like you was even allowed to step foot in the United Kingdom was a disgrace of the highest order let alone be allowed to pranse about as if you are a champion worthy of such a illustrious nation. The idea that the NWA would expect a man of my stature to lower myself to share this ring with someone like you is an ubsurdity of the highest order. I was prepared to allow you to leave with whatever scrap of dignity I left you with but one of my comrades pointed out that the NWA television title deserves far better than to be held by a thug like you and that if I wouldn't relive you from it, he would. So without any further ado, allow me to introduce you to your next NWA World Television Champion, Lord Jonathan Boyd! NWA World Television Title "Black Magic" Norman Smiley(c) w/Ms Linda vs "Lord" Jonathan Boyd w/Col Debeers. By the time Boyd makes it into the ring, Smiley is positively seething and jumps Boyd as soon as he enters the ring. Smiley is so furious he forgoes his usual scientific approach in favor of trying to beat the barrel chested Australian into submission. This plays into the challenger's hands however and he's able to repeatedly use his superior size and strength to turn the match in his favor. Eventually Smiley calms down enough to attempt to apply the "Norman Conquest" but Boyd escapes by running Smiley into the turnbuckle. He then capitalizes by locking in the "Iron Claw" and while the champion struggles with all his might, the Aussie's grip is too strong with Smiley eventually being held down for a three count. Jonah Boyd is your new television champion claiming a major victory in the battle for the future of the Commonwealth.

Bennett is too much of a Monster for Mitchell to handle. Vachon wins a friendly bout with Majors. Morgan was just outmatched against Montages. Apache/Carranza & the Star Girls worked well tonight but let's see if the good vibes continue next week. I'm guessing there's a title shot on the line. Moretti & Combs have another classic with Lisa taking another step to a shot at the world title.
-
The anger between Ladd & Watts leads to a physical confrontation and the Big Cat spends time in the cooler. Was I supposed to read Watts comment as slightly racist? Brawler wins one for Brooklyn. Garvin gets his win and nails. Smart move. Wahoo helps his new comrade to a victory. Watts returns the favor with a blindside on Ladd! Meanwhile Rich leaves El Jefe high and dry. Not sure Tommy wants to piss off the Cartel. I'm sure Prichard just made an honest mistake. What a night for Tully! A win over the Spoiler and he nets himself a title shot.
-
Well that worked out nicely didn't it? For what it's worth, them as a pair of surfer dudes doesn't sound that interesting so I think you got the real thing beat.
-
LA night 1. Sid shows that even when holding back, he's more than a match for most on the PCW roster. Young's dirty tricks aren't enough to get by the Hitman. Hennig takes a licking but escapes the big Cat. With that win over Chavo Classic, Bubba is ready to show Red who's BOSS in the cage! Coast 2 Coast end the night with a blistering win over the Wild Things. LA night 2. Owen gets past the gatekeeper. Burke just can't figure out the Gang. Big Ron batters the young Bull. Malenko's with a big win over former tag champs. Red brings the Payne to the seeming delight of Paul Bearer. Bockwinkel with another mat classic this time with St Clair. Onwards to Santa Barbara. Finlay & Grizzly might want to be careful, the Diamond Exchange doesn't take well to being embarrassed. PCO vs Sabu sounds like a madhouse! The Midnights have a deeper bag of tricks than Los Guerreros. BJH vs AoD must've been quite the hossfest. Pillman & Black Tiger have another thriller. Snow certainly pulled his weight in the main event scoring both falls for his team.

Anyone want to bet me I can book a better version having only seen the pre-show and read reviews online?

From the Omni in Atlanta GA, the National Wrestling Alliance is proud to present..... (After a intro video hyping the major angles of the night with suitably spooky imagery throughout, we cut to a sweeping shot of a jam-packed Omni with several close-ups of fans in their Halloween costumes. The camera cuts to ringside where Bob Caudle & Tony Schiavone are standing dressed as a mad scientist and Dracula respectively. They hype the card before sending us to the ring where Bruce Springsteen will sing the national anthem.) NWA World Six Man Tag Team Titles "Lone Star" Brian Adidas & The Grapplers(c) defeat Tough Guy Inc (Don Bass Duke Myers Big Daddy Cyrus) when The Grappler pinned Myers with a Lariat. NWA United States Tag Team Titles The S&S Express (Joe Savoldi & Shaun Simpson)(c) defeat The New Breed (Chris Champion & Sean Royal). The New Breed were lining up to hit the Express with the title belts when Spartanburg Vice ran down & pulled the titles from their hands. The ensuing argument allowing Savoldi & Simpson to come up behind with in-stereo O'Connor rolls to retain. NWA World Television Title. "Black Magic" Norman Smiley(c) w/Ms Linda vs"Shooting Star" Keiichi Yamada went to a 20 time limit draw. It seemed the two had come to an agreement to go five more minutes when Col Debeers stormed the ring and assaulted both men hitting both with face first Piledrivers until Adrain Street & Bill Dundee came down forcing the Col into retreat. NWA World Tag Team Titles The Commonwealth (Adrian Street & Bill Dundee(c) w/Ms Linda defeat The Killer Bees (B. Brian Blair & Jim Brunzell) by DQ when the Sheepherders attacked Street & Dundee. The Bee's were clearly angry at being cost their chance to win the titles and jumped into the fray leading to a three-way brawl which security had to break up. Starrcade Cup Finals. "Nature Boy" Buddy Landel w/JJ Dillon defeats "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes. Lots of character in this match with Landel playing the cocky prick to a tee and Rhodes having the crowd in the palm of his hand the whole match. The finish sees Dillon get on the apron to distract the ref which earns him a "Bionic Elbow" for his efforts. As the ref is making sure Dillon gets off the apron, Landel catches Rhodes with a uppercut to the uprights before pulling him into a schoolboy and putting his feet on the ropes for good measure. (Before the main event begins we get a graphic announcing Starrcade 87 which will air live on Pay Per View Thanksgiving night from the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro NC.) NWA World Heavyweight Title. "Nature Boy" Ric Flair(c) defeats NWA United States Champion Stan "The Lariat" Hansen w/JJ Dillon. Hansen surprised many by holding his own during several exchanges on the mat and Flair proved his toughness by standing toe-to-toe with the Texan, repeatedly trading knifedged chops for stiff forearms. At around the 40 minute mark, JJ signals to the back which draws out the Andersons. Whatever they were planning never materializes as Bruiser Brody bulldozes them both with his chain before whipping the two of them. Dillon, desperate to salvage the situation, actually summons enough courage to club Brody from behind.....to literally zero effect save for pissing Brody off. Dillon realizes his mistake and takes off running leading to a chase around ringside and into the back. In the ring Hansen, seeing the debacle outside, opts to finish things his way and runs the ropes for the Lariat. However just as he's about to make contact, Flair ducks under while grabbing his arm pulling Hansen down in a backslide for a surprise three count! While the crowd is obviously focused on the celebrating Flair, the camera picks up a furious Hansen yelling "That bastard Brody's gonna pay for this!" Just as the show ends.
