He had some pretty cool matches in NJ prior to the AWA Hulkamania run. -

It's hilarious that Hogan's one go to for having his working boots on is the arm bar flip and maybe a drop toe hold. -
Overall thought this was a really enjoyable show. Really seems like this year in particular is the hottest WWE has been in a long ass time in terms of shows, crowds, and storylines. Women's War Games was frequently sloppy as hell, but had a lot of fun character moments and spots. Dakota Kai bumping like 90s HBK had me :towel because she had the least amount of padding of any body in the match to absorb the pretty brutal shit she was taking over and over. AJ vs Balor was really well laid out and structured, although Balor is so cartoonishly over the top in his heel mannerisms and vocalizations. Guy really needs to go back to the Prince attitude in the ring. Really pretty amazing that AJ still does everything at such a high level considering he's really never had time off in 20+ years. He really hasn't slowed down physically in what he can do and how well he can do it despite being in his mid 40s and having a highly athletic and bump heavy style his entire career. Shotzi/Ronda was also sloppy has hell, but had some interesting stuff going on. It is kind of odd to me that Ronda is being booked to be taken to the limit by a true mid carder. She does not feel special at ALL anymore. She's had a couple of good matches in her second run, but the luster of her star power feels completely gone. Triple threat was pretty fun. Is Rollins just a full blown face again? It's wild how over Lashley is as a face using a god damn full nelson in 2022. Men's War Games was a delight. Sami Uso is the best angle in probably a decade or more.

We are actually in agreement here. You're watching to be entertained. Not to worry about ratings or drawing money, in the same way that normal people don't give a shit about how much money a NFL franchise is making in ticket sales, or what the ad buy rate is for The Masked Singer.

I'm saying as a fan, it is not your job to worry or care about "drawing money". Of all the terms and phrases online fans picked up from newsletters and shoots, drawing money has to be the most poisonous to both discussion and enjoyment.
-
Bro I do not give even the singlest of fucks about a wrestler drawing money. The only people that should care about that is the promoter and the talent. There is literally zero reason for a fan to ever give a shit about that unless they own stock in the company, I guess.

Seems unfair to blame Booker for Martel's knee injury. Guys bump into the ropes on accident like that on every show. Martel just got unlucky with how he hit.
-
Never seen a negative reaction to Booker as strong as this.
-
That's not true. Booker was having a lot of great performances and was over huge as a singles guy months before the best of 7 with Benoit started. Basically, as soon as his solo run started at the end of 1997.
-
Loses never hurt Baker because she's immediately involved in something else and follows up any loss with some borderline shooty burial promo that she didn't give a shit anyway. It was fine for Paige to win.

Too much fuckery in all the title matches for my taste.

Sting saying "I tried" after flubbing the finish kind of bummed me out, but they finally hit the Coffin Death Drop that was first teased at least a year ago and :pop

DG absolutely should have joined BCC. He could even have actually stayed a heel, with Regal teaching him ever more villainous behaviors. The crowds finally gave a shit about him and instead just went back to the will he/won't he drama for a couple of weeks then firmly back to being Jericho's little buddy, with people moving on. Made extra whatever due to Jericho already doing this angle with Sammy and MJF already. I know that the fake face turn to cement as a bigger heel is a long time thing, but that's not really an angle you use for mid card guys. That's the kind of thing you do for The Rock in 1998 to make him the top heel in the company.
-
Literally, every Jericho feud and angle has gone on way too long in AEW.

There aren't too many issues in the modern world that can't be traced back to British colonialism (and the rest of Europe, but especially British) and American hegemony in the vacuum after WW2.

The Saudi propaganda isn't really trying to whitewash its reputation to viewers or the West or anywhere else. It's all directed towards other sports, entertainment, and advertising for brands that might feel squeamish doing business with KSA. Americans are not going to take a vacation to Saudi Arabia, but KSA showing the money they'll throw to have gigantic stadium shows shows the NFL there is money to be made having a game or two every season.

The giant list of injures or suspended talent really is not mentioned enough when it comes to talking about AEW feeling cold or aimless. Damn near every program from top to bottom in the past year has been knocked off course by injuries and/or personal issues. A lot of stuff has clearly been rejiggered last second all year, most of it because one side of the storylines suddenly were out of action.

Tony getting fooled by a fake Sting, Double J shewtin' on the mizarks in 2022. What a time to be alive.
-
Tony has purchased IWA Mid South.
-
Not to speak for Embro, but I think he was referring to Jericho's negative influence in regards to terrible angles and matches.

Hey man, I'm not arguing that Jericho is better than Punk on screen, or really off. Jericho has consistently been the worst part of AEW since day one and I shit on him constantly. I would definitely prefer Punk over Jericho in pretty much all contexts. But there is a difference in Punk working with the young talent, and Punk giving unsolicited advice to the world champ who is a 14 year vet whom he was about to replace as top guy and champion. This is exactly the same situation Punk himself was in in 2011 with Kevin Nash and HHH, and 2013 with The Rock, and boy did he not like that. He can be both helpful and a "cancer" in the locker room if he's rubbing more people wrong than right and bringing a bad attitude and/or drama. Punk was pissed and threatening to leave months before All Out. A couple of months of pissy CM Punk could be a real dark cloud in the locker room. Still, Jericho sucks and I'd rather he be gone over Punk.
