  1. New Age Outlaws vs. The Ascension - Thank God it was quick. I honestly thought after last year’s fiasco, they were going to put the Outlaws over again.
  2. Cesaro & Kidd vs. NEw Day - I love that this was turned into a tag and Philly's love for Cesaro. Fuck yeah, and it turned into a really good tag match. Hell, if this took place on RAW with this crowd, we would all rave about it.
  3. I feel like we could have the exact same reaction to this show even down to the shitty New Age Outlaws appearance. The only problem is I don't think there is a Wyatt-Bryan match on the card to save the show.
  4. Wait a minute... Dave has said many times that he didn't begin to talk to Bret on friendly terms until after Montreal. The Magee story was circulating long before then.
  5. Meltzer ' s rankings?

    Guaranteed.
  7. That's a geographic and age thing. Growing up watching the Roadies and the NWA, when Demolition came around they felt like the WWFs answer to the Road Warriors and it felt like a rip off the same way the Blade Runners were a poor imitation in Mid South. I agree they were very different workers in the ring. It's not that different from acknowledging that after the success of the RNR Express, even territory felt the need to have their own rocking tag team. Rock n Roll tag team? Check. S&M face paint team? Check. Evil Russian? Check.
  8. Yeah... that Backlund - Patera match is in the running. Amazing match.
  9. Winged Eagle wanted this poll created and I think it is an interesting survey. You can choose more than one answer.
  10. I was there live at the 2007 Rumble and I think anyone who has been to a Royal Rumble live will agree that even when a Rumble has slow points, once that counter starts ticking down, it is easy to get excited or deflated depending on who comes out next. As a live viewing experience, it is extremely easy to sit through live despite going an hour plus. The 2007 Rumble had the really hot ending to make it one of the most memorable Rumbles I can think of. Cena-Umaga and Hardys-MNM were both insanely great. I don't think it can be beat as an overall show.
  11. John Cena vs. Brock Lesnar from Extreme Rules has to be in the running. The best cage match that the WWF has ever produced was the Tito-Valentine title change.
  12. My #1 was El HIjo del Santo. To be honest, We needed Kris Z or OJ to give us that historical data. If I wasn't ignorant, I wouldn't mind putting luchadores on the list. But shit, my six picks were Finlay Kerry Von Erich Dustin Rhodes Eddie Guerrero Terry Funk El Hijo Del Santo I'm happy with that.
  13. Spot on about the Hogan interviews being well worth the listen. However, I found the first one more entertaining than the 2nd one. I am going to listen to the Tazz show on your recommendation but I don't know if I will give it the same sort of praise. Hearing Tazz on comment over the years has soured me on his voice.
  14. I actually didn't watch the shows on the network. My computer is sorta screwed upright now and it is affecting the network in a major way. I ended up watching the same shows on YouTube in nice low VHS level video quality. Still had fun watching these shows.

Ah true. This is what happens when the Pavlovian dog stops responding to the dinner bell. Complete silence and apathy.

I can't believe you guys... Ryback, Rowan and Ziggler are FIRED!!!!!!! Seriously though, I know WCW was really bad but this is just lazy. I don't think they even give a fuck anymore... Vince, Trips, Steph, the writers, the wrestlers. I think they are perfectly content on going out week after week to comatose crowds and just shitting the bed. Where's my boy Johnny Sorrow to defend this crap?
  17. Two things you absoolutely have to give Dundee credit for... 1. Being a great tag worker. Lawler & Dundee is one of the greatest tag workers ever. He also had great teams with Dutch Mantel, Buddy Landel and even got a good match out of Crockett era Jimmy Garvin by his side. 2. One of the greatest studio match wrestlers on record. Dundee was great at the little things that we had to put plenty of his studio matches on the Memphis set because we couldn't leave them off. That tiny studio with the close cameras really demonstrated how good Dundee was on a week by week basis.
  18. Also. I want to do a podcast on Parv ' s ratings. I don't know yet if I want Parv on the show
  19. You should do a 4th category called career trajectory with the following categories... Peak Longevity Consistency Importance to promotion Charisma i think all of these are just as important to the topic as the things you listed. Hell, peak vs. longevity has dominated the discussion on this board for awhile. Take somebody like Inoki. If you watched his top 15 matches the way you watched Brisco, you might have him in the high teens in every category. Once you throw consistency in there, then you have to reassess the entire thing because he may be the most inconsistent performer in history. I included charisma because it is an intangible that may help you enjoy matches more when you have somebody like Jimmy Valiant who is technically a bad wrestler but is somebody who I am heavily invested in. Then you get Ricky Flair who is charismatic AND is a great wrestler. I thee in Importance to promotion because of the big debate in big matches and opportunities to have big epic matches vs. 10 minute TV matches like Regal. These things matter to people.

I don't think so. The company is the heel. If they eliminate Bryan, the crowd turns at that moment. It may be 10 minutes, 5 minutes, or 2 minutes before they go off the air, but the minute they toss Bryan then the crowd is going to shit on the match. They aren't going to boo the heel, they are going to boo the company's decision making.

Just curious... has WWE ever had quieter crowds in its existence? From the time Bryan went out with the injury until now... Fucking crickets.

It will backfire until they get the highest ratings and credited with turning business around.
