That doesn't bother me. Sometimes, another poster will articulate what they wanted to say anyway. For the Sting voters, it is because he wore face paint and reminds them of fond memories.

This is a really weird poll for me to watch. Every time I peep into the thread, the poll resembles a football score. Early on, Luger jumped out to a a 13 to 3 lead. Sting scores a touchdown and it was 13-10. Luger scores a couple of field goals and Sting got his safety for the current 19-12 score.

OK, because of real life and other wrestling projects, I am having trouble getting myself motivated to watch the matches so I can rank them. I am going to start a 1980s Wrestling Party Podcast on talkshoe so I can synch up with some people and get through some of these discs. This will be in the spirit of the Old Cowboy Wally synch-ups. If you want to shoot the shit and are in a similar situation, send me a PM and I'll set up a talkshoe conversation so we can watch this set, argue, mark-out and enjoy the AWA. If this is successful, we can do it for future sets as well.

I am glad a Sting backer came out of the woodwork. I honestly thought this was going to be Sting in a walk. Glad to see early on that most people favor Luger over Sting in the ring.

BRM, I agree with youmnd your general point and have had to remind people to stay on topic but Dibiase is the hot shit right now because Jerry insists on comparing him to everyone who worked in the 90s. I'll just remind Jerry to take a comparison to the Dibiase thread when he gets that urge.

Sting has the excellent Vader series. Then there was that time he wrestled Vader. After that, he had great matches with Vader. Luger had the strong Horsemen run, the Flair series, and great matches with Tommy Rich, Brian Pillman and Dick Murdoch. I think there are others. For ring performance, I prefer Luger. All of you Sting fans can list how he was the franchise player, he sold out an outhouse in Tupelo and how he was cool in the rafters. I'll take late 80s / early 90s Luger over Sting's entire career every day of the week.

I would say that half of the El Dandy matches I have seen I would only classify as lucha because of the region they were aired in.

What really surprised me was how not muscular everyone on the TV show was. Jerry Lawler was really young and had no biceps whatsoever.
