  1. I had no problems during the Tozawa match.
  2. To add to Kris's thread, he manes Dave Batista, not Meltzer Anyway, stoked for this weekend. ROH will be ROH. Not excited at all for the show especially knowing I am not getting any sleep since I have to catch a 5:30 am flight and I am fighting killer allergies right now. I was at the first DGUSA show and had enough fun that I am looking forward to the show. Granted, no Dragon Kid and Cima is hurt but I get to see Sami Callahan and a six man tag. Thumbs up. Sunday, Baker and I are going to kill some time at Axcess and hit Mania that night. I'll throw up a report sometime on Monday inbetween flights.

  4. I was talking about the torch article.
  5. This seems like something that would degenerate into a 40 page thread over at PWO. Shall we have at it? Easy... one... El Santo.
  6. I clicked on that link and it said the page does not exist.
  7. That is awesome. And fuck Bubba the Love Sponge.
  8. For some of these, I have to question why people think they're scummy. Randy Hales? Also, this should have absolutely been a picture thread. If you are going to call someone scummy, show the evidence.
  9. Most recently, Johnny Curtis had hype videos made of him only to get killed in his first TV match.
  10. Over the last few months, Mike Johnson has been right on the money while Meltzer has been left to speculate. The most obvious example being Jericho's return.
  11. Yes, it's very wrong, as Austin did blame Owen. Even if the move was planned, he didn't execute it properly, and he never even apologized for it. It seems like I have always heard that Austin wasn't crazy about doing the spot anyway, as he remembered injuring Chono's neck in Japan with a similar move, but Owen assured him he'd be safe. Not sure if that part is accurate, but I do know Austin held it against Owen. He even mentioned it in a Rolling Stone article. It was also mentioned in a TV Guide interview when TV guide was running 4 different wrestlers on the cover that week.
  12. This is where not watching the Mid South really hurts your evaluations because the first thing that would come out of your mouth is "Robley vs. One Man Gang".
  13. Surprised you left out Butch Reed.... Racist.
  14. Well yes, Orton sucks, but at least he still, you know, wrestles in 2012. Every pay per view match had on PPV in 2012 was no less than good. What is the argument for him sucking? I wold say the same about 2011 also.

  16. You should quit now. This is the crown jewel.
  17. This is fun. Forgive me if any of the names have been repeated... Buff Bagwell Nicolai Volkoff David Flair Tatanka Wahoo McDaniel (you clearly hate him since you showed no love towards the Manny strap match so compare that strap match to the Rock strap match) Rhino Ultimate Warrior Charlie Haas Shelton Benjamin Leo Burke (for Dave Musgrave)
  18. I don't want to watch chick flicks. If those women were doing something I wanted to see then great. The point was it is perfectly acceptable to avoid something that is critically acclaimed. It's like Twilight fans being pissed off aout people not wanting to watch their vampire movie. Except that in the only women's wrestling worth watching (joshi) the style has as much to do with gender as any other factor. It isn't women wrestling but joshi that I am not digging right now. Sarah Del Ray had a match with Claudio Castagnoli last year that I enjoyed... really good story, good match. It has to do with the individual wrestlers and personal tastes. I was working on the joshi 80s project, watched about ten discs, got quickly tired of the 80s joshi and have had an aversion ever since. I watched tons of New Japan, All Japan, Portland, Texas, Mid South, Memphis and AWA for this project. I want to actively seek out more of these promotions. I never care if I see another AJW match in my life. I wasn't the only one who tapped out on the project either. It has nothing to do with sexual hang-ups. In fact, Schneider has joked for years now on the air about the creepiness factor of the hardcore joshi fans. I love Joan Jett. This sounds different and unique enough that I would want to watch this.
  19. Wrestling is not a competition. Saying there's no gender equality in wrestling is like saying there's no gender equality in acting, singing or dancing etc... It makes no sense. This is easy. Can I recognize that Christina Aguilera can sing or that Julia Roberts/Meryl Streep can act? Sure. Do I want to listen to Aguilera's songs or watch a Julia Roberts movie? No fucking way. Do I need to judge men's and women's wrestling as equals? The same way I wouldn't want to spend money on a Julia Roberts movie, I don't want to invest time or money watching Japanese women's wrestling. With acting, there is too much interaction with men and women to make a straight comparison. With wrestling, the two are generally viewed separately except for the occasional mixed tag. If wrestling chooses to isolate men and women then I can choose which one to watch. As a form of entertainment, it can absolutely be compared to sports in terms of viewing habits. I have no interest in watching the WNBA (does it still exist?) but love the NBA.
  20. I don't believe in gender equality in the world of wrestling.
  21. The ideal would be to separate the men's ballot from the woman's ballot.
  22. In 1986, Flair was pretty fucking great at everything. I am going to say it would not have sucked.
  23. This makes no sense. It's Loss's board.
  24. Christ, huge difference. If Flair in 1998 was cutting the same promo from 1986, it would have sucked. He didn't.
