Wrestling thoughts that probably don't deserve
goodhelmet replied to Coffey's topic in NMB Wrestling Archive
Actually the XFL was a huge success on Day One. It was Day Two that they began to plummet. -
Marty was doing it in jest after he knew how bad he fucked up

You guys make me laugh Pointing out the ways people Butcher the haiku Dick Murdoch's punches are better than Benoit's chops or RVD's strikes

Current Unpopular Wrestling Opinion(s)
goodhelmet replied to Coffey's topic in NMB Wrestling Archive
I think star ratings are useful but only how they correlate to other star ratings by the reviewer. For example, Loss and I have argued numerous times about star ratings. However, when I argue with him, I argue with him about his own ratings in relation to ratings he has given to other matches. For example, we both agree that certain matches are ***** but he thinks one is better and I may think another match is better. The biggest disagreement we have is on the Ultimate Warrior-Randy Savage WM match which I think is horrid. However, he has it ranked above matches I think smoke it including Kobashi-Kawada 1998. The worst kind of star rating is one given by someone like Scott Keith who would recap a match but not explain why a match deserved a particular rating. Hell, opinions are like a$$holes but at least defend it. -

I think they have been together for a long time anyway. I know she is in the Heenan-Cornette Straight Shootin disc and also in the RF shoot as well. -

Um... why?

There was never a time when any of those three guys should have been WWF champion. They didn't do Russo-style quick title reigns to swerve the fans back then. I wouldn't argue with you over Rude and Hennig but as a character, and a wrestler, Dibiase could have held the belt and not one person would have questioned it.

Once you find a reliable guy (drak, mw, etc. ) who send out PPVs every month, you are usually pretty safe. It is the process of finding that guy that can suck.
-
I have been picking up the PPVs on DVD when they are released from Netflix. I haven't paid for a show since WM 20 and even that was a split between friends. still, unless you have to experience the show live, just run over to Crazy Max and see who is shilling the PPV that week. You can usually pick it up a couple of days later for a few bucks. Just be aware of the guys who sends the discs in napkins.

Cawthon, maybe I misse dit but I was looking through your site to see if the Dibiase-Hercules match took place and it looked like he was fighting Bam Bam Bigelow that month. Did I just overlook the Hercules match?

Did a little research and that one isn't on me. On my match lists here and at the corner, I just have it listed as Suzuki. Any first name, someone else came up with.

I have better VQ copies of the 1987 NWA matches on the way so I am going to wait for those to arrive before it is completed but it shouldn't cause much of a delay. Well, that will be on my Rick Rude comp that will be completed this week

I actually watched this in the hospital while my wife was going through labor. Her water burst so she had to be admitted even though the contractions had not started yet. True story. Anyway, the tag match is the whole shebang. Either you want it or you don't. The only other significant thing to happen was a title change between Rick Rude and Sting that if you went to get some popcorn, it would have been over before you came back. Mike, I made an Arn Anderson comp with that match included if you don't want to shell out cash for the whole show. Here is the line-up... Disc 1 Arn Anderson vs. Dusty Rhodes (NWA World TV Title) 7/27/85 Arn & Ole Anderson (c.) vs. Buzz Sawyer/Terry Taylor 9/7/85 Arn Anderson vs. Ron Garvin (NWA World TV Title) 4/86 Arn Anderson vs. Manny Fernandez (NWA World TV Title) 4/86 Arn Anderson vs. Wahoo McDaniel (NWA World TV Title) 5/86 Arn & Ole Anderson vs. Kansas Jayhawks 9/86 Arn & Ole Anderson vs. The Rock-n-Roll Express (Starrcade) 11/27/86 Arn Anderson vs. Barry Windham (c.) (U.S Title) (Superstars on the Superstation 2/7/87) Arn Anderson vs. Tim Horner 3/28/87 Disc 2 Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard vs. Lex Luger & Barry Windham (Clash I) Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard vs. Sting & Nikita Koloff (GAB 7/10/88) Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard vs. Paul Roma & Jim Powers (11/12/88; Best of WWF #18) Arn Anderson & Tully Blanchard vs. The Rockers (2/16/89; More Saturday Night?s Main Event) Arn Anderson vs. Scott Steiner (3/4/90) Arn Anderson & Ric Flair vs. Rock N' Roll Express (10/6/90) Arn Anderson & Barry Windham vs. Doom (Starrcade 12/16/90) Arn Anderson vs. Brian Pillman (3/23/91. Main Event) Arn Anderson (c.) vs. Tim Horner (4/20/91. WCW Pro. It will be worth it if just one wrestler mentions his leg breaking after 15 seconds of action.

MNJ knows where to get a hold of me You can either pick up the individual disc or wait until Tim and I finish collaborating on a Blue Panther comp.

It's Yatsu, not Saito. I have a My __ Favorite Matches thread in the Match Reviews folder you may want to check out. Of stuff I've seen, ranked by years with star ratings, dates and promotions. Yeah yeah. Sue me.
