  1. I'm surprised to see Tom winning here, with the Heavenly Bodies having just started and already being established as the top team, I'd guess that Prichard was on his way out of the USWA.
  2. Holy smokes, Sid with another great promo!
  3. His mom called him Crush? That's kinda odd. True as it may be that most adults don't mind their manners they that they tell their kids to, probably not a great idea to spread that message to the kids watching.
  4. Now this was something I was able to get behind, just a hateful bloody brawl, with Bull really standing out to me. Al most like a female Jumbo Tsuruta. She was the top woman in the company, but had no issues with making her rival look for all the world like the person to knock her off, before digging down and finding the key to win.
  5. I really wanted to love this, but I just wasn't into it as much as I felt like I should have been, considering it's AJW in '92. So reading these other posts tells me that it's not just me. I liked the idea of Toyota going after Kyoko's arm, but it was just filler. Kyoko going after Toyota's back in hardly a new concept, and there was some cool visuals of Toyota getting stretched out, but it never led anywhere. It would have been cool to see Toyota try the Cyclone and lose the bridge, a la Kawada's German in the 12/93 tag. Yes, their pacing was awesome, but at the end of the day, it just came off like a spotfest to me.
  6. I imagine it's all about context, so we can compare Eddie's matches here to two or three years from now and see him blossom into the great worker that he became. Even in it's JIP form, this is pretty sloppy.
  7. Agreed with everyone's assessment of Eddie. He had the wrestling part down, but not the working (if that makes sense). A couple of more years wrestling alongside a few of the world's best would get Eddie over that particular hump though. Lyger's taunt after getting the knees up on Eddie's splash is the coolest thing on the set since Lozanski and co, doing the triple strut.
  8. Their 2/93 match was better, but this was still excellent stuff. Hansen is always ready, willing, and able to sell his ass off. Kawada looks like the heir to the throne for taking it to the man the way he does, and Hansen proves why he's the man by knowing how to beat Kawada. But, Tosh's time would come soon enough.
  9. Sting looks horrible, his tights don't coordinate with his face paint, the cowboy boots look awful and, worst of all, he doesn't have the belt.
  10. This was awful, aside from Hayes scalping tickets.
  11. Fun stuff all around, especially Stan Lane's bit to all the women to keep their greasy, sweaty, hands off of them.
  12. Jarrett does a decent promo, but Lawler is a million miles ahead of him.
  13. I really enjoyed this. I was surprised to see how animated Flair was, the times I've seen him in Japan he's been all business so to speak.
  14. Drink every time he says "That Marlin follow"
  15. Another fun brawl, with a crazy angle and good promos to follow up. And no, this would never get over like this today.
  16. The way the Warrior says "Hulk Hogan" cracks me up for some reason. And yeah, some of those kids looked a bit uncomfortable.
  17. I skipped over this on the actual set. I've seen it before, and didn't have any desire to sit through it again. An interesting concept that doesn't play out as well in execution. I always hated the rules about three needing to be eliminated, feels like they're trying to put over the young team, but still protect Jumbo.
  18. I'm not huge into the mini matches, but this grabbed my attention and didn't let it go. Great action all around, and I loved the rudo antics, especially Espectrito.
  19. Take all the movset and depth of Benoit/Scorpio add in a bunch of hate, and you have this match. It's scary to think that they would actually top this performance just a couple of weeks later.
  20. This was crazy amounts of fun, Benoit and Scorpio looked like they were made for each other at this point. I especially liked the tombstone spot toward the end, it looked like Benoit drilled him, but it was clear that he protecting Scorpio the whole way. The finish took the wind out of their sales a bit, but it was far from bad.
  21. This is probably the best Casas match from Japan that I've seen, no coincidence that it's opposite someone else well versed in the lucha style.
  22. I loved this for the most part, it was great seeing Shawn working a more methodical style, trying to further injure Randy's leg, than the flashy spot driven stuff he's mostly known for. The only thing I didn't like was that Shawn was overselling huge when Randy would get something in, he didn't need to give a close near fall to Savage doing little more than getting his foot up on a charge.
  23. I don't think Summerslam in London was a sure thing yet. The Ladder match with Michaels didn't happen till July, and that was supposed to be a tryout of sorts for Vince, since the plan for the IC Title was Bret dropping to Shawn at Summerslam if it was held in WA. Bulldog's reaction is great though, and I'm sure this was designed to help make him into an even bigger draw for their European tours.
  24. I always thought it was fairly accepted that Hash was amongst the top of the NJ heavyweight workers. When discussing the top NJ heavyweight matches of the '90's his name comes up frequently, the two '95 Mutoh matches, the '94 Hase match, the '96 matches with Chosyu and Takada, the 6/96 IWGP Tag Titles classic.
