The problem with the American Dragon reign, toward the end, was that Gabe was spouting off in every news wire that Homicide vowed to win the belt by Final Battle '06 in his hometown. So, everyone knew that every title defense before NYC was just filler before the big payoff. And this was when ROH started running a lot more shows. I agree with John about why Rikio failed, but in NOAH's defense, it wasn't like they just decided on the spur of the moment that Rikio would be the guy. He had been built up a little bit. Rikio and Marufuji had won a tag tournament in November '04 with Rikio pinning Kobashi in the finals, and the January Budokan show semi final match was Misawa/Rikio going over Tenryu/Koshinaka, with Rikio getting to look dominant and getting the pin. So, Rikio had been built up, he just needed to built up a whole lot more to be seen as a GHC material.

I don't think it was so much Booker T getting turfed that got shit on, but the fact that he never really got any revenge for it. Book and Goldust were losing to the nWo on the house show circuit, and Booker wound up laying down in the tag match the net week, when Nash blew out his knee.

I'm actually impressed. Considering he spent of the bulk of his career in Japan, where he really only had to work in the ring. And then spent the last ten years behind a desk, he actually comes across very well spoken.

I'm fine with the Nash angle and Del Rio as champion. It was unpredictable, and not in a way that's unpredictable because it makes no sense whatsoever. I'd have liked to see Kofi beat Del Rio a couple of weeks back though, in their rematch from the title tournament, only because it sets up an easy title match.

I particulary enjoyed the part where he tried to push the Dynamic Dudes as being a cutting edge team. That may be the only part of the promo that it an obvious work. Considering Cornette's famous story about the big anti Dudes sign in the crowd and Johnny's comment when they were in the locker room (I'm at work, so I'll refrain from actually quoting it).

Neither is the Kobashi part. Kobashi beat Misawa in singles matches in the 1997 and 2000 Champion Carnival Tournaments. You're right about Kawada not being on par with Misawa, but Kobashi was positioned that way in All Japan toward the end of Misawa's run there and in NOAH, before he went down with his knee problems.

Nintendo Logic weighs in attempting to set them straight, but forgets that both Kawada and Kobashi beat Misawa long before '98 and '03 respectively. Kawada's first win over Misawa was in '95 and Kobashi's in '97

I recall one PPV, I don't recall if it was the '04 Rumble or 'Mania 20. But Ross and Lawler were going on and on about CLB nonstop and I finally had to ask WTF they were talking about. The only time I remember being used was when Trish was on the Highlight Reel and Jericho verbally tore her apart and commented about Christian being the CLB.
