If Yokozuna agreed to the impromptu title match and there was an official sanctioned referee that recognized the accepted challenge then the title switch is legit. Stupid yes but logical.

I think even Vince knows Hogan was never gonna do that. Probably just something he tells people like Bret to rustle things up like he is known to do. I wouldn't even be surprised if in his mind Vince knew they would end up doing the KOTR thing with Yoko instead. If Vince really wanted Bret to take it at Summerslam, why do the Luger deal? Why not just put the belt on Bret regardless of champion? Hell he was not sure who he was gonna put the belt on at Mania X with that Rumble finish. That is sure a guy with conviction about Bret as his top guy.

There is absolutely no good reason to book Tom Phillips of all people to get his head rattled by those slaps. I don't think she should be slapping wrestlers but there is SOME logic in that but announcers or interviewers with no athletic backgrounds? Absolutely not.

I don't actually have an issue with Backlund getting the call but it just strikes me as weird Vince cares enough about Bret's feelings considering he didn't care about him going into WM IX and at this point was obviously ready to roll with Diesel as his guy...and even though Bret was the one they put the belt back on when that failed, it was only to get it through the winter before putting it on Shawn. Just weird IMO.

NXT can't be considered a promotion, can they?

Nah. Not buying it. Of course they are gonna remind people of their jobs. That is the character they have elected to wrestle as. Duke is Duke the Dumpster Droese. He isn't Duke the Ripper who just happens to be a garbageman in his day job. I do understand that it is different people chipping in with opinions and my opinion is Mankind looks awful, period.

I do think it's character related. Owens presents himself as a prize fighter who only cares about money and winning. Well when you got a guy who actually does fight real fights for money and he's fat, people give him a bunch of shit about that and talk about how much better he could be if he stopped being fat. See: Roy Nelson. It is more that Owens dresses in a shirt and gym shorts whereas Bray Wyatt wears more character specific clothing. It is easy to stand out as a fat fuck when you dress the way Owens does.

Personally I don't have a problem with Brock not defending the belt at a B level event like TLC, to use an example. I think it means more to a title if you're holding out the champion for major opponents and not just a challenger of the month kind of scenario. I also do understand why others feel differently. There has to be a reason for people to watch the shows, and the championship is something that people are invested in. If they can't make compelling programs on their own then they obviously do need the belt to give them a crutch in booking.

Yeah its definitely not something for them to do in 2016. I was actually thinking further down the road. There is really no reason to take the belt off Reigns for a good long while. They can build to an eventual Reigns/Cena match in 2017 or 2018 if Reigns is the top dog and Cena becomes more of a part time special attraction. However that might make a heel turn less effective so I don't know.

He doesn't have to dress up like the Rock or anything but surely they could avoid having him look like actual turd...the color just did not flatter his figure. That's the point. Mankind is a digusting freak that lived in the boiler room and tore out his hair. He was the company's Quasimodo. He wasn't supposed to appear flattering in the slightest. And it got over. See, that is kind of hypocritical. The original post has IRS being taken to task on his ring attire, but that is the point of IRS, he is a pencil pushing evil taxman. Then another post has mentions of all those characters in the 90s that dressed up like their occupation would demand like Duke the Dumpster. That stuff made sense for their characters but its okay for people to rip on them for it but Mankind gets a pass because he's supposed to be a freak? Pick a lane and stick to it, people.

Since the WWE is all in on a Reigns push I wonder if they would get to the point of having Cena essentially play out the Austin heel turn, citing that he NEEDS the title and seeing how difficult it would be to dethrone Reigns and knowing time is running out on him breaking the record. It could be a very interesting story to tell but it really boils down to whether the WWE is confident in Reigns to support the loss of revenue that a Cena heel turn would create.
-
Yeah, Brock has always been put in programs that is so separated from the everyday WWE storylines. It would be very difficult for me to blame him for the lack of stars and for the poor booking involved overall.
-
Although I was the one that mentioned Brock winning the Rumble with 29 eliminations, I do wonder if it is logical. The Authority obviously wants to put an end to Roman Reigns's title run, wouldn't they embrace the idea of Brock taking the belt off him? Then it would make more sense if they had Brock at #30 to ensure that it was the match that happens.

I agree that Reigns needs to show confidence and fearlessness when it comes to dealing with Brock Lesnar but I am not sure I agree that Reigns needs to call him out. I think Brock deciding that Reigns and the belt is a worthy pursuit for him would get Reigns as much as if he was the one calling him out. Of course I also think if they do the match, Brock needs to single handedly eliminate 29 opponents in the Rumble to get that shot.

He was decked out head to toe in brown. That's great? Not for my money.

Anyone But You is exactly the kind of feud they like to run before one of them rises to champion status. It is another one of those "I am the better rising star than you" kinda things they have run in the past with Austin/Rock and Triple H/Rock. I think it is Bray Wyatt as the Edge to Reigns's Cena and I think Seth Rollins would be the Randy Orton to Reigns's Cena. All they need now is the Batista...perhaps Daniel Bryan if he ever comes back full time...
-
I think Mankind has to be mentioned somewhere here. Both the original look and after he acquired the white shirt looked awful even for a character like him.
-
The character works because its not just that he is a prize fighter. It is that he is one of the better prize fighters that is out there that the company never wanted. He is the guy who wrecks the company's plans by being the badass fighter who beats your top guys when he should have been done away with by now.
-
I think Bray Wyatt is actually the guy they want as Reigns's archnemesis. I am sure he will have one of the bigger programs during this reign with Roman. Probably even have a major Summerslam matchup if he is the champion that long.
-
They are basically doing the ideal heel singles Ambrose character with Kevin Owens now. So I don't know if it would be a good idea to turn him heel without a solid plan for him going forward. I don't really want to see him turn heel just so he can be fodder for Reigns's...reign as a summer opponent or whatever. If they have no real plan for him, I'd rather he stay a babyface.
-
HHH vs Ambrose wouldn't be a match that was big enough for Wrestlemania. At least not yet. If they started the build NOW, then maybe.

That is an odd thing to say considering the last special event ended with Triple H getting destroyed by Roman Reigns so completely.
