  1. To those that would know, where does Doug Furnas rank here?
  2. Re: Athleticism/Lawler/Modern Wrestling He didn't do them often, but weren't Lawler's flying legdrop and flying headbutt as aesthetically pleasing, if not more so than Cena's and Bryan's? Also, his 360 over-the-top rope bump, and huge back body drop (in and out of the ring) were impressive athletic spots, to this day. And he was doing the 360 spot into the 2000's, if I'm not mistaken.

    Atlantis

Here's the match from earlier tonight: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x26agzp_atlantis-vs-ultimo-guerrero-mask-vs-mask_sport I'm with Phil, and I think it was Atlantis' presence and performance what really made tonight's match special. I hope one day Will makes an Atlantis compilation.

    Daniel Bryan

Out of curiosity, anyone here watch his FIP run as champion? Don't remember where I read this, maybe here or DVDVR, but read someone saying that because of the difference in crowds between ROH and FIP, that his matches, crowd interactions and heel act felt very different from his ROH title run. If this is true, could be a plus for his case.
  5. He became a regular in the WWF SuperAstros program, where he had singles and tag team matches with El Hijo Del Santo and Negro Casas in his first few appearances. Later in that series when Savio Vega started booking (I think that's what I heard later online), he became part of the Los Boricuas vs El Merenguero (Jesús 'Hurucan' Castillo, Jr.) storyline. I believe Estrada's last appearance was in the WWF SuperAstros series finale, when Los Boricuas (Vega, Estrada, and Castillo, Jr. who had now turned babyface) reunited for a trios match against Apolo Dantes, Pantera, and Papi Chulo, in August 1999.
  6. Never found out. Maybe Jose, Steve or Kris know. I need to rewatch those matches and listen more closely to the commentating in case anything interesting is said.
  7. As far as criticisms, any thoughts on his 1989 period in EMLL? Fans turned on him bad, and he was getting booed out of Arena Mexico while working with All Star. Fans weren't accepting him at all.
  8. I've seen a lot of great workers and stars live, and I had more fun watching El Hijo Del Santo than anyone else. To further elaborate on the formula, I was just telling a friend of mine the other day, who I've gone with to see Santo a handful of times, that a very good, Santo-formula match feels pretty special live in a way that is hard to describe. You know what's coming next, you see the rudos getting in position for the tope de cristo and the plancha, but fuck, they are graceful every single time and everyone in attendance loves it. When the match is over, I've seen kids climbing into the ring to celebrate with Santo, and once even saw Santo literally be carried off of a fan's shoulders to the back. The whole experience feels like you saw something incredible. When Santo made his retirement announcement earlier in the year, tomk made a great point online. tomk said something like how he thought the world would be culturally worse without Santo touring around, performing his style of lucha libre all over Mexico, U.S. and the world. EDIT: Just saw OJ's post above mine, agree with the execution line and how one can never get tired of his spots.
  9. Thanks.
  10. Why are some of the Attitude-era RAW episodes listed twice? Is one more edited than the other?
  11. Reminds me. In a WOR a few weeks back, Jack Encarnacao was pitching this absurd idea of how WWE Network should include writing meetings on the network. Silly idea argument aside, Meltzer and Alvarez replied with plenty of reasons why this would never ever happened, including Dave Meltzer bluntly saying how they would have to control themselves and stop doing racist and off-color jokes during those meetings.
  12. Didn't Austin suffer a concussion on a mistimed spot where 'Taker raised his head too quickly from an Austin kick, early in the match? While I liked this, I remember years ago thinking this match could have been better if that didn't happen to Austin, but I haven't seen this in years. The Undertaker's flying legdrop through the table is one of the better spots in the WWF during the 1990's.
  13. Another thing of value is probably who has a good connection to a 'mark' doctor and pharmacist.
  14. First thing that came to my mind. Funny. He brought it up on today's show, ha: Dave Meltzer: "Can you believe my stupidity of pouring ice and water all over myself without taking the newspaper and book out of the chair? Goddamn, that was so stupid. But it's actually fine, I didn't get that much water on it."
  15. Perro Aguayo getting all sociological while doing commentary with Dr. Alfonso Morales for an El Talisman vs America Rocca match, talking about why lower income folks from certain areas end up in lucha libre and boxing, while "personas con dinero" ("people with money") like tennis or other things. "Duele mas el hambre que los golpes." ("The hunger hurts more than the blows.")
  16. Haha, I won't, I promise.
  17. On the bright side, I'm the only Eduardo now on this board.

    Current WWE

This is the Thursday Night Football schedule -- http://www.nfl.com/tnf Other than the Jaguars-Titans, and Bills-Dolphins, I am probably watch all of these.
  19. I just checked off the box for it not to renew yesterday. Might get it sometime later in the Fall if a PPV main event really interests me. Will definitely get it back by Royal Rumble time. It's not that I don't like the WWE Network because I do, but American football season is starting. So pretty much my entire Sundays are going to be devoted to watching NFL Sunday Ticket and the Sunday Night Football games with my brother and friends. There's already enough wrestling on cable TV, and DVD's I have, to keep me entertained in the mean time.
  20. Bret Hart stated on that Hart-Michaels DVD/Blu-ray that he had completed all his contracted dates by November 9.
  21. Thought Jericho-Wyatt was pretty flat and meh. Not terrible but just not fun like the other stuff, so far, on this event.
  22. Really loved that it was Goldust that stood up to Kane. Lumberjack match was a blast and better than I expected it going in. Also loved Rusev's performance in the earlier match. Good show so far.
  23. I was thinking recently, "'Mocho Cota' would be a great band name." Then I stumbled upon this, a Nuevo Leon punk band already had the same idea years before me. Haven't listened to them yet, but a demo is there for download, and a photo of Cota is part of their cover art. NSFW - http://anarkopez.blogspot.com/2013/03/mocho-cota-demo.html
  24. Sherdog.com administrative editor, radio personality, writer, and dude who I think is in charge of the fight finder. I've had pleasant exchanges with him via emails, and I've liked his past work (I haven't kept up with his Sherdog.com work for about a year so can't speak for his current stuff), but I just found it to be such a bizzare comparison.
  25. "I have spoken at length to Vince [McMahon]. He is very smart. Not like in awe of smart like some guy like Jordan Breen, but very smart nonetheless." - Meltzer.
