  1. This has been going around tumblr, sweet Cena story. http://pharrfromheaven.tumblr.com/post/89149434792/angryblackman-theheadstrongprincess
  2. Sergio Martinez should have won in 2012 for "Best Interviews", and after tonight's "Face Off", he should win for 2014. Miguel Cotto and Max Kellerman looked lost at times.
  3. From my limited understanding, there still is some issues with concussions in soccer, especially women's. I remember hearing some people upset about how they handled Abby Wambach getting knocked out cold in a game last year. But again, I don't follow it too closely, and sometimes perception matters more than reality so you may be right. But through Latin@ folks in America, it'll become bigger sport in this country as we move forward. Most of my close friends all prefer to watch soccer over all the major American sports. I'm the only that doesn't watch soccer or care about it in my circle of friends. Not that I dislike it or anything, I just spend too much time already with wrestling, MMA, boxing, football and basketball.
  4. Compared to what though? NFL has some of the most violent, angry, biggotted etc. etc. choose your label fans. NBA fanbase isn't anything to sneeze at on that level either. MLB's demo *according to surveys* is mostly older people. It wouldn't surprise me that in comparison WWE's audience, which enjoys watching half naked guys fighting, is considered more liberal. It's a line that Meltzer has thrown around without that context, which is why I am curious about learning more, and what the actual study was.
  5. Speaking of market research and fan demographic, I remember Meltzer mentioning several times how along with the WNBA, that WWE has the most liberal audience of all sports. What study did that info come from?
  6. Wonder if Jerry Lawler will be making any Johnny Manziel references from this point on.
  7. I haven't watched much international, but WWE-wise, I'd probably pick Sheamus as "Worker of the 1/3 Year" at this point. The great series with Christian, some good-to-really-good matches with Wade Barrett, Titus O'Neil, Ryback, Real Americans, and the Elimination Chamber.

I haven't rewatched them since they happened, but Kane had two singles matches last year (against Seth Rollins on Main Event and Ryback on SD!) that were as good as the best match he had with Daniel Bryan this year.

Perhaps the fedora is a clue that Bray Wyatt is an MRA.

Earlier in the day yesterday, I was thinking, "Please WWE, don't do a Cinco De Mayo segment." Awful segment. Cringeworthy.

WWE did the right thing with Daniel Bryan at WM. I do get where Batista is coming from though. Looking at it as a job, which it is, I know how it feels being promised certain things and expecting a certain amount of pay, and then not getting either of those things. It sucks and it just makes you want to move on (if there are other options available). At this point, what's the purpose of having Bryan-Batista after he cleanly tapped out at WM and lost via clean pinfall to Roman Reigns last night?
  12. I want to jokingly ask Meltzer if they will fine Torito for doing a chairshot to the head on Hornswoggle.

From Twitter. Cena and the Wyatts in the background:
  14. I thought it was better than the RAW match, but not as good as the EC or Main Event matches. Thought Shield-Evolution was pretty good, but not great.
  15. I learned random words like "bizzare" (Davey Boy Smith, and McMahon using it) and "cahoots" as in "they are in...". I had a similar experience with Loss dealing with a teacher where I had to prove the definition of "bizzare".
  16. How was The Snowman angle put together? Any interesting unknown stories that happened behind the scenes? Any thoughts on Billy Robinson's run in Memphis?
  17. From today's WOR. While The Rock was shooting a film, he was watching Memphis wrestling, and he emailed Dave Meltzer, apparently asking, "Who the fuck is Austin Idol? Who is this guy? He's one of the best promos I've ever seen."
  18. I would love this. I have a friend of mine who is working on a book anthology of her zine, and thought how great that was. It would be neat to see something like this done with the WON, covering every year. In the past, I've lost issues from time to time, so this would help me out a lot. Also, would be great to keep notes on certain issues. Anyone else interested in this?

Foley alluded on a recent Wrestling Observer Radio that certain people were in Orton's ear, telling him not to trust Foley, or something like that. Orton went to Foley to tell him this, but Foley and Orton talked it over, and Orton trusted Foley's direction. At least that's what Foley said on this appearance.
  20. *Talking about their least favorite people in the business* Steve Sims: "The last one I will bury is the one I would least like to do business with, from here to eternity and that's Mr. [Paul] Heyman." Bryan Alvarez: "Really?" Steve Sims: "Oh yeah, don't trust him. He knows how I feel, if he remembers me..."
  21. Is it possible that interviews that were shot for WWE's anti-Bret Hart DVD still exist somewhere in their vault? If I am remembering correctly, Roddy Piper and a few others were interviewed for that hit piece.
  22. http://www.thecubsfan.com/cmll/?p=30612 So according to this, El Dandy vs Satanico are having a Hair vs Hair match at a city right next to mine, across the border. Really tempted to go, but need to figure out how to get there, and would prefer to go with someone.
  23. Another recent candidate is Dave Finlay in 2006. Came back, and quickly was one of the best workers on the planet. His first six months were filled with good-to-great TV matches, and he had a match at Judgment Day 2006 with [x] that was a legitimate MOTYC. While SD! was really good during that period, his return felt like he upped a lot of workers' games. His offense felt so fresh and tight compared to everyone around him.
  24. Much like there are some international fans that have been able to get the WWE Network in countries outside the U.S, I know a family that has been able to get Mexico's UFC Network here. Basically, they have two houses, one in Mexico and one in the U.S. They have their Sky Mexico bill mailed to the Mexico address, but paid the installer to install the Sky Mexico equipment in the U.S. home. We live about 15 minutes from the border, so it wasn't much work. The last two months I've been going to their house to watch the PPV's and Fox Sports fights. I haven't seen anything written about it in English, so I thought I would share some initial thoughts with you. --The channel is 24/7. --In February, the first month was free. My friend's family decided to stick with the channel after the free trial. They told me when converted to U.S. currency it cost around $12.00 a month. --All fight events air live on this channel. That include every live PPV's, Fox, Fox Sports, and Fight Pass (International) events. That includes prelims as well. They air replays of events later on. For a price that ranges about $12.00, it's worth it just for the PPV's alone, so all the other events are just an additional bonus. Great value. --The Ultimate Fighter Nations: Canada vs Australia was the first new TUF series to air on here. The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3 (Sonnen vs Silva) is currently airing on here as well. I believe it airs on Sundays. --Hype specials and fighter profiles air regularly. --When there isn't any live content or shows to build up upcoming fights and current fighters, they air past events. Not just recent stuff either, as the other week they were airing UFC 8, which includes the tournament Don Frye won in Puerto Rico. --Most of the time, the graphics are correct but they have been a bit off on random occasions. They seem to be just honest mistakes, but still they are strange and distracting. During Ronda Rousey's last fight with Sara McMann, they had her MMA record way off, with about a dozen more wins, and one loss. The group of friends I was with got a good laugh when the graphics listed Shogun as 26 years old, and Dan Henderson as 23 years old during their fight last month. We all wish they were that young again. --Fabricio Werdum is a very charming color commentator. He's a bit goofy, but pretty honest when he see's sloppy stuff. The family I watch this with have all come away really liking him, as has my dad. At this point, I'd rather listen to Werdum than Rogan. Erik Perez has done some commentating as well. He's a genuinely good dude, but he's a bit shy and doesn't really know what to say at times. His color commentating highlight was when he and the commentators started talking about AAA's Octagon during a fight.
  25. No shit? What is Coach doing? And they've got that other cat from WWE....what was his name? Todd Grisham. I don't know if he still does it, but I've seen him do Friday Night Fights there a few months back. Apparently, he mentioned on ESPN that he got voted worst pro wrestling announcer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
