  1. NWA World Championship Wrestling. Taped at the WTBS Studio. Airing 5/7/83 on the Superstation. With you host “The Dean of Professional Wrestling” Gordon Solie Solie is welcoming the fans to the show when Jim Cornette who says he’s been putting Mama Cornette’s money to good use, assembling the greatest force professional wrestling has EVER seen. Over the next few weeks, he’ll be revealing the main who will be running Georgia starting tonight. Johnny RIch gets the show properly started, with a win over an enhancement talent. One Man Gang w/Cornette absolutely squashes some poor soul in more than one way. The studio crowd goes insane when Ric Flair joins Solie at the podium. Flair says he came to Georgia because it has everything he’s looking for, the brightest lights, the best competition and the most beautiful women in the world (he winks at the studio audience earning a loud, feminine cheer). He puts over the upcoming GCW events telling the people at home to show up every chance they got, whether it’s the Memorial Auditorium in Columbus this Sunday, the Centreplex Coliseum Arena in Macon this Monday or the big show at The Omni right here in Atlanta later this month where he’ll defend the NWA World Championship against whoever the championship committee puts in front of him. Brad Armstrong looks sharp in a win. Matt Borne & Gene Anderson get a tag team showcase. “Wildfire” Tommy Rich joins Solie at the podium. He puts over his ongoing rivalry with Buzz Sawyer but before too long the Mad Dog rushes out and a brawl breaks out that has Solie frantically calling security. In the Main Event, Rocky Johnson puts his athleticism and charisma on full display as he KO’s his opponent with the Soulman Shuffle.
  2. Titan & Spivey are headed for a hell of a collision. Mr Backlund has a firm grip on Nailz, for now. The Ronin's first outing with Hart is unsuccessful. Love the character work of Taylor paying his opponent off. Always love a good battle royal. Roberts is down, Flair is the prime suspect and there's about to be a pissed off giant that's about to make it everyone else's problem.
  3. I just know that The Assassin & Wild Dog had those poor fans running for their lives. Another bad night for PiP.
  4. Okay if i'm Tasha, I am SERIOUSLY reconsidering my hiring practices.
  5. SMW Slam #3 Knoxville Civic Auditorium Studio Taped on 4/24/26, Posted to Youtube on 4/25/20 Commissioner: “Wildfire” Tommy Rich On Commentary: Gene Jackson & Dr Tom Prichard Ring Announcer: Kyle Davis Backstage Interviewer: Linda Kay We start with a video package showing some of the highlights of SMW’s original run followed by the new SMW intro set to Smoky Mountains by Conner Smith. Jackson & Prichard welcome everyone to the show going over the tournament matches that will be on today’s show. (Harris’ video details his rise through southern indies such as EPW and Memphis Wrestling. Mondo’s tells of his journey from the Spirit Squad to ROH to his current work in the NWA) Smoky Mountain Heavyweight Championship Tournament First Round Match Mike Mondo defeats Martin “Hangtime” Haris with “Gut Check” (Gutbuster) (The Express’ video is a highlight reel of their legendary career while the Gentlemen’s video focuses on their status as one of the top teams in the NWA) Smoky Mountain Tag Team Championship Tournament First Round Match The Country Gentlemen (AJ & KC Cazana) w/Joe Cazana defeat The Rock n Roll Express (Ricky Morton & Robert Gibson) after Joe hits Gibson with an enormous hardback version of what he claims is the SMW rulebook. 6. HBK has been in the territory one day and already has found his biggest fan. I remember Dutch's sudden sickness from my SMW watch a while back. Grade A heel move right there. The commentary booth being his safe space is a nice trick to keep him an Austin apart. I.R.S is gunning for his first real fan favorite. Horner on the other hand, is putting his focus entirely on Ron Wright. Ahmed is being built into a true bruiser. More multi man chaos to end the show. SMW is quickly becoming the wildest hour of TV in the game.
  7. Gama shifts his focus to retaining his TV title. Burke is riding high despite coming up short in the hunt for the world title. Magnum may have just sealed Morrow's death warrant putting him in a cage with Hogan. Idol finds a particularly brutal way to cut ties with Storm. Gotta hand it to Vinne, Barr is a hell of a get. Jammer gets too show off. Payne is back from his suspension. Jackie is proud of her boys. Fun main event that gives energy to the Bombers/Guerreros feud.
  8. The fact that I could actually see WCW declaring two different team as co (US) tag champions. It's exactly the kind of zany thing they'd do around this time.
  9. I'm sure the DC made a hell of an impression with their devastating finisher. If Dutch was looking for muscle, he made a fine choice with Ahmed. Black wasn't Bad enough to handle the Fab One. Orndorff keeps finding new ways to win. Ivan Koloff & Dick Murdoch, not the duo I'd like to meet in a bar. Wow Boris made great time getting back from the Kremlin.
  10. Titan makes quick work of his first title defense. But Spivey represents a whole new level of danger. The King and the Genius getting heat like only they can. The First Family get the win even as Quake us distracted by Tugboat. Whoever that is, they have to be important for Tunney to clear everyone out. Valiant's gonna have a hard time dancing after being in the figure four. Roberts ruins the victory party by planting Ric with the DDT. The Taylor Made Man is looking sharp in his debut. Forget the American Dream, it's time for the WWF to experience Akeem the African Dream!
  11. SMW Slam #3 Knoxville Civic Auditorium Studio Taped on 4/3/26, Posted to Youtube on 4/18/20 Commissioner: “Wildfire” Tommy Rich On Commentary: Gene Jackson & Dr Tom Prichard Ring Announcer: Kyle Davis Backstage Interviewer: Linda Kay We start with a video package showing some of the highlights of SMW’s original run followed by the new SMW intro set to Smoky Mountains by Conner Smith. Jackson & Prichard welcome everyone to the show going over the tournament matches that will be on today’s show. (Rossier’s promo is naturally focused on his lengthy tenure in WWE while Holiday recount his days in MLW alongside MJF and Hammerstone) Smoky Mountain Heavyweight Championship Tournament First Round Match “The Most Marketable Man in Pro Wrestling” Richard Holiday defeats “Mr No Days Off” Fred Rosser after taking advantage of a distracted ref to hit the “Signature Move” (Uppercut to the uprights) followed by “Rarified Air” (Rotating vertical suplex) Mike Mondo cuts an intense promo telling Martin Harris that he’d better come ready for the fight of his life because next week’s it’s go time, it’s his time, it’s Mondo time ... .IT'S GUT CHECK TIME!!! (The Andersons split focus between CW’s career in ECW and beyond and Brock’s quest to uphold his father’s legacy. The Hard Way’s video has Vaughn talking up his own career as a journeyman as well as McKenzie’s tremendous upside) Smoky Mountain Tag Team Championship Tournament First Round Match The Andersons (Brock & CW) w/Arn Anderson defeats The Hard Way (Jack Vaughn & Dalton McKenzie) after Brock pinned McKenzie with a DDT. We get a pre-taped promo by Bishop Dyer where he tells Storm that the hangover he’s constantly battling will feel like a mother’s kiss compared to what happens to him next week. Next week's matches: Martin “Hangtime” Harris vs Mike Mondo, The Rock n Roll Express vs The Country Gentlemen & “Cowboy” James Storm vs “The Nomad” Bishop Dyer (Latimer talks about his time in TNA/Impact and his recent reign as NWA World champion. Conley talks about his rise through the North Carolina indie scene to being a current fixture of JCW) Smoky Mountain Heavyweight Championship Tournament First Round Match Thom Latimer defeats “The Obsession” Kaleb Conley with “Brighter Side of Suffering” (Pop-up Powerbomb)
  12. Good for Magnum for keeping things for when doling out disciplinary actions. Iceman taking the logical next step, going after the TV title. Tokyo is back and hasn't missed a beat. Norton and the Tiger are definitely heading for round 2. AHH....damn Greg Gagne jump scare. "We live on Elm Street and we tell Freddy Krueger when he can come home!" this line goes so hard. The Cobra strikes! Ah Yeah, the Vin Man is back. Rampage just about says it all with those two. AWA, i'm afraid i've got some Bad News for ya! Canek & Mascaras have a great debut as a team at the Tribal Nations expense. Adnan isn't wasting any time with celebrations. He;s telling everyone that his monster rules the AWA.
  13. Bad night for law enforcement in WCW. R.I.P Kendall. As is to be expected after a tornado hits, the us tag title match ends in chaos and confusion. While the description of he match doesn't make it immediately clear who won, what's important is that Rude is now firmly in the sights for the American Dream. Sting makes Meng look great in his debut. One question, was this match meant to be falls count anywhere because as I'm reading it the pin seems to happen on the floor. Sid retains but Sting sends a powerful message. Ricky Steamboat is the last man standing, officially anyway. Major arrival for Arn & Larry.
  14. Snuka shows he can still fly high after Andre walked out on him. Lawler just sent his chances for winning the tile way up after that Piledriver. Power & Glory are looking good but the Warlord has found himself a Dog to go into battle with. Mr Backlund has Nailz on the path to true rehabilitation. Looks like Hase & Sasaki decided they needed a master after all. I've heard that Taylor's promos lagged behind his ring work but you've found a great voice for him. Jake & Andre put Flair on notice. The Titan closes the show on a huge moment as he becomes the first ever WWF TV champion.
  15. Don Callis may be an insufferable prick but he's damn good on commentary. Loved his work in Impact.
  16. I feel like i've heard that SMW was on the air in Chattanooga it's just that the timeslot was shit. Also here's a thought, Chattanooga is about as far from Birmingham as it is from Knoxville so if Southeastern doesn't return maybe SMW could head even further south?
  17. Assassin is making all kinds of enemies. Meanwhile Morton is proving to be a true gentleman.
  18. Champagne Slam baby, oh yeah! Idol's big mouth wrote a check his Idols couldn't cash. The Bunkhouse Boys weren't rough enough to take the belts off the champs. Luckily for everyone, it seems Mascaras was in a mood to do business tonight. Rich and Morrow pull one hell of a cheap trick to keep the hulkster out of the main event. I will say that the final battle royal looks basically like what I expected. Rich with the lightening quick exit was something the crowd needed. Boss man and Neil are gonna have some fun brawls. Kokina proves to be the ultimate dark horse winner. I don't think anyone was expecting him to pull it out.
  19. SMW Slam #2 Knoxville Civic Auditorium Studio Taped on 4/3/26, Posted to Youtube on 4/18/20 Commissioner: “Wildfire” Tommy Rich On Commentary: Gene Jackson & Dr Tom Prichard Ring Announcer: Kyle Davis Backstage Interviewer: Linda Kay We start with a video package showing some of the highlights of SMW’s original run followed by the new SMW intro set to Smoky Mountains by Conner Smith. Jackson & Prichard welcome everyone to the show going over the tournament matches that will be on today’s show. (Guerrera’s video recounts his long journey through AAA, ECW, WCW, WWE and many others. Mercer’s focuses on his time in OVW & JCW as well as his viral moments for freakish displays of strength.) Smoky Mountain Heavyweight Championship Tournament First Round Match “Iron Demon” Shane Mercer defeats Juventud Guerrera with the “Moonsault and Battery” (Moonsault Powerslam from the second rope) (A video package of the Rock n Rolls Express plays set to Bob Segers’ Old Time Rock & Roll. The ten time SMW tag theme champions are coming home!) (The Rockers video highlights Snow's storied career as well as the mentorship role his taken in Herro’s rise through the indies. The Southern 6 brag about winning the 2024 Crockett Cup as well as their reign as NWA US Tag champs. Morton gets noticeably hostile when his father Ricky Morton is brought up.) Smoky Mountain Tag Team Championship Tournament First Round Match The Southern 6 (Kerry Morton & Alex Taylor) defeat The New Age Rockers (Kal Herro & Al Snow). All four men are brawling when the ref tries to guide Hero to his corner allowing Morton to hit “Kiss It Goodbye” (Bicycle Knee) on Snow letting Taylor get the pin. Commentary runs down the tournament matches for next week: “Mr No Days Off” Fred Rosser vs “The Most Marketable Man in Pro Wrestling” Richard Holiday, The Andersons (Brock & CW) w/Arn Anderson vs The Hard Way (Jack Vaughn & Dalton McKenzie) and Thom Latimer vs “The Obsession” Kalen Conley. Linda Kay is standing by with SMW Commissioner "Wildfire" Tommy Rich who announces that in addition to the two tournament finals, Volunteer Slam will see the official launch of the SMW Women’s division and he’s personally selecting the ladies who will compete at the event. (Willie Mack reminisces about his time in the California scene in the late 2000s through the 2010s as well as his time in Lucha Underground and TNA. Adonis focuses on his time in WWE and the NWA.) Smoky Mountain Heavyweight Championship Tournament First Round Match “Choclate Thunder”Willie Mack defeats “The Masterpiece” Chris Adonis after rolling out of the “Master Lock” and Hitting the “#1 Stunna”
  20. SNME is here! Let's do it! Hart proves his worth as Z-man "proves" that he was the leading man in High Energy. An impressive field for King of the Ring though I will say there's a clear final. Warlord gets a highlight reel worthy moment slamming OMG but Power & Glory crash the victory party. The King takes the cheap way to the #1 contender's spot. Big moment for Tatanka as he gets the pin and Wahoo passes the torch. Mr Backlund has Nailz primed for his first WWF match......in several months. Taylor is looking to make to big moves in the WWF. The undisputed tag titles will be residing in Nastyville.
  21. Yeah, i'll level with ya, at least a couple of these guys aren't really coming back after the tournament. I wanted this to be a somewhat realistic first taping where SMW was able to get some people with name value but also not able to get the biggest guys on the indies just yet.
  22. All roads lead to the Omni and we're poised to see some big things happen there.
  23. Rogers always does well in your territories I've noticed. Ominous words from Ivan. I wonder who he's bringing in> hear he's got another nephew. Looks like DD had to pay up. The Wrecking Crew aren't keen on making friends. Keirn is back to his usual Fabulous self. Timbs is proving a great set-up for the local faces. Don't mess with Murdoch's money! Well Wright helped Dutch get the win, just not as he imagined.
  24. Wahoo & Tatanka get tuned up ahead of their clash with the Ace & the Hammer. Still not sure how Hart got his hooks into Zenk but the Z-Man is clearly content to let him take the wheel. Really loving the work on all the promos. Lawler may have just seriously thrown off Valiant's groove. Nailz was dangerous on his own but with Mr Backlund guiding the path, he just went to an entirely new level. Titan makes a hell of a statement flattening DeBeers. Jake took Andre going into business for himself surprisingly well. Dino helps his man Earthquake get a grip on the IC belt.
  25. Shame WIld Dog couldn't make it but still that was a hell of an 8 man tag.
