Originally airing 1 7 1991 on HBO. Unless stated otherwise, matches were taped at the Worcester Centrum in Worcester Massachusetts. Ventura and Monsoon welcome the audience to 1991 and say this week's show will feature a host of new faces to the WWF. Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake defeats The Iron Sheik with "A little bit off the top". Sean Mooney's interview with Jake Roberts is shown. Robert says that a snake needs to find the perfect place to strike from in order to bring down its target and he gave himself the best spot imaginable when he secured himself the #30 spot in the Royal Rumble. Disco Inferno defeats Tom Stone with the "Chart Buster" (Ace Crusher). A lot of the kids in the audience were dancing along with him after he won. Ventura & Monsoon discuss the drawing in the Royal Rumble for the benefit of new fans. Mean Gene gives the Royal Rumble Report. The Rumble takes place at the Baltimore Arena on January 31st live on PPV. He then plays a VTR of Dusty Rhodes as he reveals the stipulation for the WWF Championship Match at the event. Rhodes says he and Funk have been doing this dance for so long he can't remember a time when they weren't. Says Funk has done a whole laundry list of horrible things to him but nothing compared to the War Zone match back in July when he was handcuffed to the ropes, forced to watch as Terry Funk nearly used a branding iron on his first born son. At the Royal Rumble, he'll pay Funk back for that and everything else he's done to the Rhodes family when they meet one last time...inside a STEEL CAGE.....Loser Leaves the WWF! The Russian Pitbulls' squash from Wrestling Challenge is shown. The Minotaur defeats Ron Steel with "Running with the Bulls" (Pounce). Ranger Ross defeats "Russian Brute" Boris Zhukov with the "Combat Kick". Bob Orton's squash from RAW a few weeks ago airs. Navajo Warrior w/Wahoo McDaniel defeats Kent Carlson with 'The Last Mile" (Power slam). Horace the Psychopath defeats Terry Davis with "Delirium" (Inverted DDT). Tugboat defeated Tom Bennett with "Capsized". Billy Jack Haynes squash from Wrestling Challenge is shown. Feature Match. Haku w/"Sensational" Sherri Martel defeats "The Boy from New York City" Jimmy Valiant w/"The Guiding Light" Capt Lou Albano with the "Tongan Death Grip".

Portland. Nice showcase for the Dragon. Sandman spikes the Sicillian. Finlay seems to see something in thThrillaz. In just one interview, you've given Scotty & Stevie a nicer interaction than I ever saw on TV. Awesome gets too show off. Corny and the Midnights get their payback. Sabu doesn't seem to care about winning the title. Night 2. Stormfront maintain their edge over their old friends. Wright brings victory home for the Hexagon. The Bulldozer is quite the get for the Collective. What a visual with the powerbomb on Bigelow. Busick overcomes the craziness with Sabu to retain against Candido. Condrey takes the Pacific champ the distance. Eugene. The Thrillaz show their new mentor what they can do. Scorpion stings Guido. Fastball crashes hard. The Gentleman is on a roll. The Dragons are flying high. Snow's shortcuts lead to a dead end.

I like the idea of the monthly TV specials. Gives you a nice clear goal to book towards without the hassle of ppv.

Southeastern Championship Wrestling (1991 Revival)
ErictheDragon replied to Jimmy Jack Punk's topic in Programming
A mix-up in scheduling leads to the Southeast's first ever triple threat match. Team Texas an the Memphis Mafia nearly came to blows a couple times throughout the episode. I'd be curious to see how the live crowd reacted. I don't like the way RPG responded when Fuller mentioned selling the company. Such a shame Madril had to go to night court just before Armando & El Toro's match. Pistol Pez is fired up and rearing to get a hold of Kabuki. -
WWF sends Masahiro Chono, Scott Norton & Kokina to AWA for King Kong Bundy, Col Debeers & Tom Brandi. WWF sends Paul Roma to WCW for Dan Spivey. Vader's loan is up so he returns to WCW.
-
The Bunkhouse Boys with an impressive debut. Tiger pounced on the Equalizer. Big night for Jammer as he's the last man standing and he ditches Vinnie. Colon proves once again nobody in the AWA does a no DQ match like him. Konnan lives up to Hart's hype. Oh joy...Greg's back...yay😒. Los Guerreros are vicious on the way to victory. Kerry survives Spivey but gets waylaid by a debuting Michaels. Gigolo Jimmy arrives as the real Heavenly Bodies claim the National tag titles. We just witnessed the Denver screwjob! You know things are dirty when Don f'n King is shaking his head.

Kudos to Sting for not waiting for Sid to get a title shot. Dillion's beef with Paul E leads to him losing his job. Speaking of whom, he pulls a major league dick move by messing with Muta's papers. At least we're getting a tournament out of it.

Love it!

Go for it.

A crazy six man opener ends with the Idol's living up to their name. Damn, Hangman takes out Jack. Jumbo and Saito go to a respectable draw. Payne serves Bruke up to Parsons on a silver platter. Gamma takes the TV title but David proves himself a real sportsman. The Bombers survive a bloody chain match. Muraco wins the match but Tully finds the dirtiest way possible to get out of giving him 5 minutes. Hansen takes down the monster Bundey. Garvin & Slater fight fire with fire in route to claiming the tag titles.

Love the idea of a full top 10 complete with honorary mentions. Savage cleans up being a part of ha;f the list as well as scoring wrestler of the year....and the most hated award but the Macho Man isn't gonna let that bother him.

UWF brings in the new year with Maeda finally taking his spot at the top of the company after beating the Soviet monster. Wonderful moment.

WWF sends Nailz to USWA for Greg Valentine. WWF releases Alofa and Curtis Highes to sign Biff Wellington & Keith Hart. Got a few more trades that i'll post in a couple of days as I don't want to spoil any upcoming matches.

New Year's Bash! January 1 1991 Madison Square Garden. Airing live on the MSG Network. On Commetary: Vince McMahon & Lord Alfred Hayes. "Chief" Wahoo McDaniel defeated "The Russia Bear" Ivan Koloff after turning an attempted "Russia Sickle" into a backslide. The Russian Pitbulls run down and jump Wahoo with Ivan joining in until Tatanka and the Navajo Warrior make the save. The Pitbulls seemed content to keep fighting but Ivan called for the retreat. "The Ace" Bob Orton defeated Scott "Flash" Morton with a lariat. High Energy (Koko B Ware & Tom Zenk) defeated The Samoan Headhunters (Alofa & Kokina) when Zenk pinned Alofa with a sunset flip off the top rope. Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake defeats Masahiro Chono with A little bit off the tope". WWF Tag Team Championship. The Ronin (Hiroshi Hase & Kensuke Sasaki)(c) defeat Power & Glory(Hercules & Paul Roma) w/"Sensational" Sherri Martel with "Senpukku" on Roma. Roma's neck was clearly bothering him and he needed help returning to the back. Loser Leaves Town New York Street Fight. Bad News Brown defeats Nailz with the "Ghetto Blaster" with a chain wrapped around his leg. WWF Intercontinental Championship. "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan(c) vs "TFhe Walking Natural Disaster" Earthquake w/"Le Commandant" Frenchy Martin ends in a double D.Q. Main Event. Eight man tag to determine whether Dusty Rhodes or Terry Funk gets to choose the stipulation for their WWF Championship Match at the Royal Rumble. "The American Dream" Dusty Rhodes, "The Natural" Dustin Rhodes, The Ultimate Warrior & Tito Santana defeated The Texas Outlaws (WWF Champion Terry Funk, Manny Fernandez, Dick Murdoch & Black Bart) when Bart accidentally hit Fernandez with a clothesline leaving him vulnerable to a Warrior splash. As the Outlaws retreated to the back, Fernandez was reading Bart the riot act. Bart look apologetic, Murdoch looked sympathetic and Funk just looked pissed at the whole thing.

Southeastern Championship Wrestling (1991 Revival)

Mr Olympia ii gets his first big win but the Mercenaries try to make him pay for it but the day it saved by.....Mike Miller? I don't know where Armando found El Toro but he definitely earned his pay tonight. I imagine DJ is gonna start losing patience with Garvin some time soon. Credit to Rex King for trying to go it alone but Team Texas was just too much. Whatley and Kabuki weren't in the mood to listen to no zebra. Funk's trusty cowbell brings Team Texas the tag titles. The Memphis Mafia is here and they are taking on everyone! Huge pier-six brawl to close out the first Southeastern show if the new year. -
Edmonton. R.I.P to the Bull. Trisha shows off her new team. The Money Train are still giving Finlay fits. Guido reminds everyone that big things come in small packages. Stormfront prove their point to the Citadel. Stevie's feeling the groove. Nice of Rose to check on Scotty even if it got interrupted by Piper's sales pitch to Candido. Alex earn his spot in the Hexagon. The TC's earlier attack costs Gordy the Submission title. Goodbye Robbie Z, hello RVD. The Thrillaz Cap off a night of successful debuts. LK us climbing the ranks. The OWC gets some karma courtesy from the tag champs. Martel puts down a game Condrey. Bigelow gets carried away and gets ko'd for his trouble. The Thrillseekers just made huge waves by beating the Midnights. Another Hart-Windham classic. Victoria. Guido continues to prove Vito was right to bring him in. What a finisher by the Thrillaz. Martel kills the party, at least for one night. Dragon is flying high. Sarge and Awesome have a wild one. RVD's roll continues. Vancouver. Malenko needs help to get an edge on Regal. The Foce still rules the Golden State tag scene. Severn shows Snow he still had some things to learn. The Midnights rebound to take the champs to the limit. Hart fends off another challenge by Dibiase. Kelowna. Regal aims to make Wright pay. Scorpio puts the chill on Guido. The Thrillaz get derailed my the Money Train.(ironic) Kawada shows he doesn't need a leg up to retain the title. Eddie just cut to the front of the line. Another rematch, another win for Douglas.

Shameful hos unprofessional some people ca be. Taylor still thinks he's the cock of the walk. DWB lives up to his name. Medusa shows there's no weak link in her team with Austin. The DC show they can hang with the champs. Seems Rich has found himself a new family. Savage closes out the year with his title reign intact.

Championship Wrestling clearly knows where the money is because PIP was all over the show, from verbally jousting with the commissioner to winning the main event an finally brawling with the top faces of the territory.

Southeastern Championship Wrestling (1991 Revival)
ErictheDragon replied to Jimmy Jack Punk's topic in Programming
That opener was hilarious and another masterful showing by Alberto Madril -Attorney at Law. JYD is taking on all comers. Gotta hand it to RPG, between Kabuki, Killer Brooks, JJ Funk and now Embry he really has signed some of the bigger names from Texas. And if that wasn't enough we've got JC Ice threatening to bring in the Memphis Mafia. Southeastern fans got a treat watching the entire first round of the tag title tournament play out on TV. Taylor fends off Madril's interference and shows that he isn't done chasing Armando. -
Another classic AWA recap. Can't wait for SuperClash.
-
Massive card heading to the Tokyo Dome to close 1990 with all the bangs.
-
Nice to see the Brigade having a good time. Dang, even being on a beach in Hawaii and seeing Tine in a bikini isn't enough to lift Scotty's mood. Piper's still finding ways to cause trouble though. I like a guy who dances for himself and nobody else. Keep on dancing Stevie.

Southeastern Championship Wrestling (1991 Revival)
ErictheDragon replied to Jimmy Jack Punk's topic in Programming
Having JYD as the champ will go a long way to strengthening the USWA ties. Nice bookend having DJ successfully help her man in the first round only to accidentally cost him the finals. RPG found quite the killer in Kabuki. Alberto Madril - Attorney at Law is always on hand to assist his client.
