  1. I'm completely ok with that idea. By the way, I hope during this week to be caught up on reading other promotions and giving comments. Sorry I've been busy and only focusing on a few.
  2. Yeah, I tried to give hints all along that it was Valentine (and sometimes Smirnoff standing in) as the Super Russian. Now my super team of Valentine and Koloff are the tag team champions going forward. Glad you guys enjoyed this, I've been planning this for a while. Some big plans ahead with all of these things, I hope I can pay them off. More explanations coming on TV this week. The Don Carson whole group will be on The Body Shop to explain.
  3. Let me get this straight, the fact WWE proper is so shitty compared to NXT and me pointing it out is me getting worked by the promoter?
  4. Only listened to part 1
  5. For people who did not hear Vampiro on Austin's show, that match with Pentagon Jr. went 30 minutes in the temple and they edited it down.
  6. I have murdoch and fuchi from mid south
  7. That nail has hammered a long time ago, but wtf?
  8. I am not going to be home tomorrow, so I posted my huge show a day early. I really would love feedback on this one, because I pay off an angle I have been building for a long time. We also get the reveal of the Super Russian, fireballs and an epic main event.
  9. Maple Leaf Wrestling August 30, 1983 at Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto, Ontario 1. WWF Intercontinental Champion Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat vs Greg "The Hammer" Valentine w/ Don Carson A really good back and forth match where Valentine worked the leg and Steamboat kept valiantly fighting back. The time limit ran out while Steamboat was countering a figure-four leglock. Time Limit Draw @ 20:00 2. "Thunderfoot" Joel Deaton vs Ben Bassarab Bassarab has a huge advantage with technique, but Deaton gains advantage by cheating and brawling. As it looks like Bassarab was looking on the verge of winning he gets hit by a big boot and gets knocked out. Winner - Joel Deaton @ 6:57 3. Lord Littlebrook & Tiny Tom vs Cowboy Lang & Haiti Kid A high paced energy match where Cowboy Lang pins Littlebrook in the end. Winners - Cowboy Lang & Haiti Kid @ 8:35 4. NWA Canadian Tag Team Champions Ivan Koloff & Super Russian w/ Don Carson vs Wahoo McDaniel & Buzz Tyler in a Steel Cage As Buzz Tyler makes his way to the ring he his ambushed by Ivan Koloff & Super Russian. They destroy him with a chain to the legs and then wrap it around the ringpost and follow it up with a figure-four leglock. Wahoo McDaniel & Alexis Smirnoff come to ringside, but it is too late. Tyler can not wrestle and is helped to the back by the medics. Jack Tunney comes to ringside to discuss the situation with Wahoo and then Koloff, Super Russian and Carson. The ring announcer makes the announcement that the match will happen, but Alexis Smrinoff will take Buzz Tyler's place. The match starts with Koloff and Wahoo and they go right at it. Wahoo with some vicious chops, but the Super Russian hits Wahoo from behind and the Russians gain the advantage through some double teams. They attack Wahoo's leg, just like they did to Tyler. Using a chain and the cage to beat him down. Wahoo can barely stand, but keeps fighting back. After Koloff was going for a lariat, Wahoo ducks and Koloff nails the cage. This finally gives Wahoo the chance to make the tag to Smirnoff. Koloff and Super Russian back off as Smirnoff gets ready to get all of his revenge. However, instead Smirnoff attacks Wahoo. Koloff jumps Wahoo as well and at this moment Super Russian removes his mask and it's GREG "THE HAMMER" VALENTINE. They beat down Wahoo and the medics are really slow to get out here, because they were helping out Buzz Tyler. Security also comes out eventually get the cage open and save Wahoo. Wahoo leaves on a stretcher while Ivan Koloff, Greg Valentine, Alexis Smirnoff and Don Carson celebrate with the NWA Canadian Tag Team Titles. No Contest @ 8:04 Intermission: Maple Leaf Wrestling will return on September 27th with Riki Choshu challenging for the NWA Canadian Champion! 5. Battle Royal featuring: Andre the Giant, Leo Burke, Jerry Brisco, Tony Garea, Tiger Conway Jr., Bobby Bass, Al Tomko, Gary Royal, Killer Karl Krupp, Paul Christy, Angelo Mosca Jr. & Rick Patterson Andre the Giant and Leo Burke are the two biggest stars in the match and are the last two left. While alone they have a short and fun battle, before Andre tosses Burke for the win. Winner - Andre the Giant @ 12:26 6. NWA World Midget Champion Little Tokyo vs Tiger Jackson Tiger has his early advantage stopped by salt to the eyes. From there Tokyo works over Tiger, but he keeps kicking out. Tiger makes a huge comeback and looks to have won the title after a crossbody, but Tokyo gets his foot on the rope. From there Tokyo pulls the tights to keep the title. Winner - Little Tokyo @ 13:52 7. Cuban Assassin & Chicky Starr w/ Bobby Bass vs "Big" Stephen Petipas & Rocky Johnson in a Toronto Street Fight Both teams wear street clothes to the ring. The match is a brawl all over the ringside area and including using chairs, maracas and even Bobby Bass being bodyslammed through the announcer table. If Bass out of the way Petipas and Johnson seemed ready for victory, but the Cuban Assassin threw a fire ball in Rocky's face for the pinfall. Winners - Cuban Assassin & Chicky Starr @ 14:57 8. NWA Canadian Champion Rick Martel vs Mr. Saito w/ Jesse "The Body" Ventura This match is all about Saito working over the back that was hurt on TV two days ago. Rick Martel looked to finally be making a comeback, but when Saito grabbed the referee and they argued Ventura ran Martel's face into the ring post busting him open. That is when Tony Garea came to ringside and chased Ventura to the back. Later in the contest a bloody Martel with a hurt back is able to kick out of the Saito Suplex. This leads to Saito putting on the scorpion deathlock, but Martel reaches and reaches and gets to the bottom rope. Saito puts Martel on the top turnbuckle and goes for a superplex, but Martel pushes him off and hits a huge flying splash for two. He then locks on the Boston Crab, but Martel's back is so hurt Saito powers out pushing Martel through the ropes. However he hangs on to the apron. Saito runs at him, but Martel nails him with a forearm knocking him down and then hits the slingshot splash for the victory. Winner - Rick Martel @ 21:21

In the second fall (1:24:02) we go international starting with Revolution Pro TV as shown on youtube. It features Rocky Romero vs Josh Bodom. Is there something going on in New Zealand? Let us know and we will talk about it on This Week in Wrestling.
  11. Part 2 is soo much better with legit great matches that could make match of the year lists.
  12. Maybe, but I wonder if we're coming at this from two different angles. I've been immersed in 70s wrestling for the past year and have seen a hell of a lot of Backlund MSG matches that I'd put over that one. I just ... Well, didn't think the work they did was very engaging. It just felt like any match to me, rather than a great one. In the context of watching every other WWF match from 96 it might feel like this old school masterpiece, but in the context of watching a lot of old school masterpieces, it felt like just a match. I dunno? But it fell very flat for me and was easily the worst Austin performance I saw tonight. Bret seemed bored to me as well. I feel if Flair did the exact same match with Austin that you would had gave it 5 stars. EDIT: There is so much greatness to it. I love the slow build from technical to brawling to the finish. Austin using Bret's moves against him, then Bret returning the favour later. I love Bret trying things like the superplex, failing, then doing a bigger version later for big pay off. The story of the returning vet to take on the young upstart bully and teaching him new tricks is amazing. Best match in WWF history.
  13. I agree, just thought you had them swapped on the Martel podcast. Glad you came around, for now.
  14. Done! To the people who pm'd me, I am looking that over.
  15. Really? What are you basing that on? The fact they have been booked in horrible shit over the last month? Is that really a fair statement. It may be true, but to assert that now is ridiculous. Give them a fair chance with booking and then we could tell.
  16. Maple Leaf Wrestling presents Wrestling Night in Canada August 28, 1983 at Convention Center in Hamilton, Ontario The show opens with a video set to "Total Eclipse of the Heart" by Bonnie Tyler hyping up the Maple Leaf Gardens show this Tuesday August 30th. Clips of Rick Martel and Mr. Saito, as well as the Russians battling Wahoo McDaniel & Buzz Tyler, Andre the Giant, The Cubans and Stephen Petipas & Rocky Johnson are all played showcasing their matches. We start backstage where Ivan Koloff, Super Russian and Don Carson are inside of a steel cage. They state that Tuesday will be the end of Wahoo McDaniel and Buzz Tyler. Wahoo has been a thorn in Don Carson's side since Canada Day and it will end Tuesday. They warn Alexis Smirnoff to not get involved, because they are not afraid to end the career of their country man. We then go to the announce booth with Billy Red Lyons and Jesse "The Body" Ventura where they hype tonight's main event of Rick Martel taking on Jesse Ventura's new charge. Who remains a mystery and Ventura is not tipping his hat here. Tonight the Body Shop will have a special guest in number one contender for the NWA World Midget Title Tiger Jackson. Commercial #1 1. "Outlaw" Joel Deaton vs Tiger Conway Jr. Tiger Conway Jr. has a nice shine sequence here, but Deaton takes control by hitting a low blow. When Tiger finally makes his comeback, Deaton is able to hit a big boot knocking out Deaton. After the match Jerry Brisco & Ben Bassarab come out to check on Conway, but Deaton knocks out Bassarab with the big boot. As Brisco goes after Deaton, he runs away. Deaton has knocked out both Tiger Conway Jr. and Ben Bassarab with single big boots tonight! Winner - Joel Deaton @ 6:25 Commercial #2 Lyons speculates how Joel Deaton is knocking everybody out with a single big boot. Ventura calls Deaton the Thunderfoot and says he has had great training and that is why. They relate a note from Jack Tunney that Bassarab will look for revenge and take on Deaton in Maple Leaf Gardens on Tuesday. We are treated to a video of Cuban Assassin, Chicky Starr and Bobby Bass attending a mariachi band performance. All three men are getting down to the music. They take some time to talk about Tuesday's match with Rocky Johnson & Stephen Petipas. Although they are offended that it is a Toronto Street Fight and not a Cuban Street Fight. Commercial #3 2. Little Tokyo vs Cowboy Lang Cowboy gets some nice offense in, but the NWA World Midget Champion is on a roll and gets the victory here in a match with a lot of action. Winner - Little Tokyo @ 6:57 Commercial #4 We are in the Maple Leaf Wrestling Event Centre with Nick McMann who is talking Tuesday's huge card in Maple Leaf Gardens: * NWA Canadian Champion Rick Martel vs Mr. Saito * NWA Canadian Tag Team Champions Ivan Koloff & Super Russian w/ Don Carson vs Wahoo McDaniel & Buzz Tyler w/ Alexis Smirnoff in a Steel Cage * Cuban Assassin & Chicky Starr w/ Bobby Bass vs Stephen Petipas & Rocky Johnson in a Toronto Street Fight * WWF Intercontinental Champion Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat vs Greg "The Hammer" Valentine * NWA World Midget's Champion Litlte Tokyo vs Tiger Jackson * "Thunderfoot" Joel Deaton vs Ben Bassarab in a grudge match * A battle royal which includes Andre the Giant, Leo Burke, Jerry Brisco, Tony Garea, Tiger Conwway Jr., Bobby Bass, plus six more. We get short promos by Jesse Ventura with Mr. Saito and Rick Martel about the main event. Commercial #5 3. Alexis Smirnoff w/ Wahoo McDaniel & Buzz Tyler vs Gary Royal Smirnoff uses his strength and brawling to take out Royal Winner - Alexis Smirnoff @ 4:20 Commercial #6 It's time for The Body Shop with Jesse Ventura. Ventura has no body guard with him here tonight. He explained that after the last week of Samurai not helping for Ventura top take out Martel that he was fired and will not be seen again. We move on to bringing up Tiger Jackson challenging Little Tokyo for the NWA Wolrd Midget Title. He brings out Tiger. Tiger Jackson doesn't get much of a chance to talk, as Ventura runs him down. Tiger finally has enough and slapped Ventura to his disbelief and charges off. Commercial #7 4. Main Event: Rick Martel vs ??? Jesse Ventura comes out and runs down Tiger Jackson, before turning to Rick Martel. He explains that Saito will take the NWA Canadian Title on Tuesday and on September 27th we will have the greatest match in the history of Maple Leaf Gardens as Mr. Saito will defend the NWA Canadian Title against Riki Choshu! That leads to him talking up Martel's opponent tonight. He talked to the greatest factories in Japan and finally tonight it has been completed. Jesse Ventura reveals to the world the EVIL MACHINE! A man in a machine mask comes out looking very similar to Masked Samurai. This brings out Rick Martel. Evil Machine gains an early advantage after Ventura trips him up. We get a long beat down by Evli Machine, with him focusing on the back of Martel. He was very viscous and showed no remorse. Martel finally makes a come back, but Mr. Saito runs in and lays out Martel as the show ends with Ventura, Evil Machine and Saito celebrating over a downed Martel. Winner - Rick Martel via DQ @ 9:25
  17. Failed world champ?
  18. Grimmas

    WWE TV 8/24-8/30

Big E vs Brock would rule
  19. He has that great series with LA Park. I love him in Lucha Underground, especially the Ultima Lucha match. If he would to make his way onto the list, he needs some more. How is his Puerto Rico run and the rest of his lucha run?
  20. Damn the commentary is just so bad. EVOLVE has a huge advantage in that respect. I do like Caprice Coleman on commentary. Nana isn't bad either. I don't know what the schedule or price of Michael Schiavello (who called Ultima Lucha) is but I would be courting him if I was any kind of wrestling company. What a great breath of fresh air he was on that one show he did. Even Striker and Vampiro are way better than Kelly/Corino. There has to be some kind of lowly MMA or amateur wrestling announcer out there that could make a transition. Gosh the state of the announce booth is pretty shitty.
  21. Jobber Trade anyone??? I have been using these guys as jobbers and then have done a lot of jobs. I'm looking to get some fresh jobbers in. Straight up one jobber for one jobber (or multiples of that) are wanted. However, we can talk about anything else. On the trading block: Rick Patterson Bob Marcus Joe Marcus Gary Royal Paul Christy Nick DeCarlo
  22. If there is justice in the world WM 36 should be headlined by something like Bayley-Sasha and Sami Zayn vs Roman Reigns or something more along those lines. It should be new headliners. The WWF needs a "New Generation" or "Attitude Era" type of movement that gets rid of old stars and focuses on new ones. EDIT: Main guys should be more like Apollo Crews, Chad Gable, etc.. it's time to move on from the old.
  23. Probably the Young Bucks If the Young Bucks get in and it took the Rock 'n' Roll Express almost 20 years to get in, then I don't know what I will do, but I will be grumpy!
  24. Charlotte is a great athlete who is still new to the business. She has shown great potential to be carried and is more natural as a heel. Her working like Ric Flair has been a problem, but to say it's pure nepotism is bollocks. Too many good matches. She should still be in NXT working things out, but she could be really great in time.
  25. Let's be fair, there is a lot of people in the HOF should either not be in or went in way too early. Using the standard of who got in the past is an interesting topic. Ultimo Dragon is in, while Ken Patera got voted off the ballot. Looking at those two things, then I have no idea who anybody should vote for in the future.
