  1. More of an execution issue than a move issue, but i hate it when a wrestler does a snapmare and doesn't drop to one knee when performing the move. 90% of wrestlers do this, they the grab the head and do the motion of a snapmare and the other guy bumps. Then to make matters worse, they then drop down to one knee and then put on a head lock. Should be done in one motion, looks like crap otherwise. Also make it easier for the wrestler taking the bump.
  2. Single person flap jack, its a two man move for fuck sake, even worse when someone uses it on there own in a tag team match.
  3. So...social skills are not your thing, huh? Oi, no need to get personal. Watch his match with Kawada at CC 1995 and see if you think Khali could have done that. Yeah, that. Or the Misawa match. Or any of the tags he was in. Or like, the fucking Marufuji match. Taue was awesome and there's no way you could plug a random stiff like the Great fucking Khali into that scene and get the same result. That is utter, utter nonsense. Taue was fucking great and actively contributing to those matches as much as any of them. But because he's awkward and looks like Giant Baba, he gets no credit for it. Total bullshit. I wouldn't say Taue gets no credit, but I would say that it takes time to appreciate how good he is. With fans like ragemaster, maybe he doesn't appreciate all the differences between the Mainstream American and King's Road Style, or more likely - perhaps he has not seen all of Taue's body of work. If you don't care for a guy's performance in a Tag Match, you're not likely to seek out his work in a singles match, and in Taue's case, you probably should. When I first saw a match featuring "The Four Pillars of Heaven" at first look I thought Kobashi was the biggest star, simply because I was used to watching North American wrestling and Kobashi's style was more what I was used to, with the dramatic behavior. Secondly I was impressed with Kawada, who to me exuded bad-assery. Then Misawa, I saw that he had the skills (and then some) but at first I was taken aback by his stoicism at times. And originally yes, I didn't "get" Taue at all, I thought he was the weak link and wasn't ass good as the other three guys. Now, I rate the four totally different. In my opinion the problem is that a lot of fans read the names Misawa/Kawada/Kobashi and Taue and just look up one of their Tag Matches on YouTube, watch it, and then make snap judgements. That was the mistake I made - although I didn't use YouTube, I did just kind of jump into the King's Road stuff. It wasn't until later I understood that going straight to watching the Tag Final on 12/06/96 was kind of like watching only the scene in the Italian Restaurant where Michael shoots everybody, but then claiming you watched The Godfather and don't see the big deal. Yeah, you saw a vital part, but not the whole picture. I honestly think new fans need to start with the match where Misawa unmasked and moved forward using this list as a guideline, get into the awesome Jumbo and Company vs. Misawa and Company Tag Team matches and Six Man matches (during many of which, Taue was rocking his super-cool fro.) If they then work their way up into the eventual split of Misawa and Kawada and formation of The Holy Demon Army, by the time they get to some of Taue's "peak" performances in 1995, they can see a fuller picture of the important role he played in 90's AJPW. And that's not even getting into some of the underrated stuff he ended up doing in NOAH. Now having said all that, if you look at all the work Taue did through the 90's in AJPW and you still end up comparing him to The Great Khali? Then I submit you have the brain damage brought on by taking the marijuana pills. I've been watching wrestling since about 1990, I started importing Ajpw tapes in about 94/95. I'm not a new fan who just caught some random Japanese wrestling on YouTube. I will start by saying that comparing him to Khail was just a little flippant. This is what happens when your up at almost one in the morning trying to make a point. Roman Reigns is probably a little bit better comparison, as he's someone who's been in lots of great 3 man tags and also has have really good single matches with the right opponent. He probably will have a great match with AJ Styles on Sunday, but does that make him a great worker, or just someone who can be carried to a great match with the right person in the ring with him. I think instead of telling me about all the great matches he had with Kawada or Misawa or even Marufuji. Maybe point me to classic single matches he had with with someone like a Bart Gunn or Johnny Ace. That's the true mark of a great wrestler, someone who can carry a lesser wrestler up to your level. As I compared him to Khail, could he have a watchable match with him? Shawn Michaels did on raw, (I know Shawn probably the worse wrestler I could use on this board to make a point) I think its a little bit of the Mark Henry syndrome going on here with Taue. People on this board like to pick a person who for years has a reputation and then make a case that they greater than people remembered or much worse and then everyone else jumps on and agrees. Taue by no means is a bad wrestler but he's not a great wrestler, by any standard. You come to PWO, diss Taue, Reigns, and Henry then put over HBK to rub it in? Talk about social skills! Jeez. Lol I did put a tongue out by my Michaels comment, as I new that would put this boards back up.
  4. My only issue is I guess I haven't seen a match where he's the man so to speak. If anyone can point me to a match where he's carrying a lesser opponent to a great match I may revise my view on him. But after watching him for over 20 years I'm guess I'm stuck in my view of the guy. If I'm being kind I say he over reached his body limitations wile working in one of the hardest styles of wrestling going.

  6. I'm not saying I didn't enjoy him in those matches, he played his part well. But the workers were working around him, if that makes sense, anyone could of been put in that spot. The only wrestler's he reminds me off are Baba at the end of his career, and unfortunately Khail. But I didn't want to use Baba as a comparison as the matches I've seen of baba in his prime, blow's away Akira as a worker.
  7. I didn't vote in this list, but am enjoying reading it. Some of the ranking are mind boggling weird for me though, Regal being the main one. I always viewed him as someone who when he was in the ring with someone who could work his style Finley, Benoit, could on the right night have a very good match. But I've never seen him carry anyone to a good match, or have the consistency of great worker working great matches more than once or twice a year. (if that) Windham at his peak was as good as anyone, love his Flair matches and his match with Bigelow is also worth checking out. But he was great for only a short period of his career, not a top 40 for sure. I have Windham about the same level I have Dustin Rhodes at, just because both were so inconsistent in there careers. The other one which totally mystified me is Akira Taue, you could of put the great khali in his place in those Ajpw matches. No one would have noticed he was that wooden in the ring.
  8. delete
  9. I think the finish to the Undertaker Vs Shane match, is Cena coming out and costing the Undertaker the match. Then on Raw Cena can say, he only did it to get rid of the Authority, then talks about how much he respects the Undertaker and it was the hardest thing he ever had to do, hopefully staying face. Next year the undertaker comes back and talks about wanting Cena at Wrestlemania. Who's ever in charge (probably The Authority) say's the only way he can wrestle at wrestlemania, is if he puts his career on the line. Hell lets make it a double career Vs career.
  10. With Daniel Bryan career over due to a concussion, its only a matter of time before some other talent is pulled due to concussion issues. Randy Orton and bubba ray both have a history of concussion's, HHH and Undertaker took lots of chair shots over there career's. Likewise Brock Lesnar did a lot of chair shots, plus with his MMA career and his shot at football I'm guessing his results wouldn't be the best. Plus when you include just taking bumps night after night, I'm guessing lots of wrestlers would have brain injures/issues and just aren't aware of it. If the Wwe tested everyone, would there be a enough main event talent left to even stay in business?
  11. Anyone else think this is what melissa joan hart going to end up looking like.
  12. Razor Ramon always had brutal squash matches. Yokozuna before he got really fat, had fun jobber matches as well.
  13. The problem is Vince, in his mind he has his idea of what a star looks like. The booking of Daniel Bryan is all you need to know of Styles future. I'm sure he be giving a title run. But will Vince book him like the top star, very doubtful, they don't even book Reigns like a top star.(because they don't know how) In there minds the Rumble booking was suppose to elevate Reigns, But just made him look like a loser. The best you can hope for Styles is matches with the mid card guys and one every now and again moved to the main event before they move him back down. What in the last 15 years gives anyone hope that Vince will change his mind and book what the fans want. Daniel was the most over of anyone in years, all they did was try to bury him. Made me laugh on JBL legends show with Brian James, that JBL clamed the fans all thought we were burying Bryan. But we were giving him the biggest push ever to get him over. Not sure what else to was going to say, but it just shows how disillusioned the people in the company are, if they really think that.
  14. In fact I'm so confident they be predictable and this is what will happen. I call a spot in the Rumble were HHH and Reigns crash through some tables, so they can lie there and rest for a bit. To give all the attention In the ring to a Undertaker/Brock stare down, before they team up and attack the Wyatts.
  15. Unfortunately if I'm booking it with a Vince McMahon/HHH mind set. HHH wins the title, so Roman has to chase for belt before he's anointed at wrestlemaina. Also you can see HHH would love the idea, of doing what his idle did in 92. Wouldn't surprise me if HHH comes in at number 2 so in his mind, him and Roman can have an epic battle throughout whole rumble. (probably number 3 thinking about it, with The Big Show number 2) As for undertaker, him and brock team up in the Rumble to take on the Wyatt family, if sting healthy by then, he could be the third man or more likely it end up a handicap match at mania. I'm guessing AJ Styles will get pared with Alberto Del Rio.
  16. Maybe but you need something big for wrestlemania, Fast lane could be a preview 6 man match where everyone interferes and the show go's off the air with a wild braw like Great American bash 89. Leading to needing a wargames due to level of violence that need's to be contained in the feud.
  17. As it stands i have no interest in wrestlemana with how the card shaping up. So i thought it be fun to book the rumble for the best possible out come for a wrestlemania main event. Start the show backstage, having the Balor Club introducing themselves to HHH and Steph and AJ asking them for a place in the Rumble. HHH says he's glad to have them here, but AJ need’s to earn a place in the Rumble and not just walk in. He gives them access to a vip room and tells them to enjoy the show. After the first two matches it cuts to Steph ruining up to HHH and saying Vince is letting him into the rumble (without saying AJ) Just before the Rumble starts we cut to HHH (in wrestling gear) saying if thinks he's just walking into the Rumble he's going to wished he stayed home. Walk’s past Curtis Axel, asks to see his number, pedigree’s him and takes it. Means we get to see Curtis craw out and collapse at ringside, so he can say he's two years in a row he wasn't eliminated. Daniel Bryan will come out last, to a giant pop with people thinking its going to be AJ. We get down to HHH, Brock, Roman, Bryan and Bray. (planting the seeds for a face turn for Bray) At this point the Balor club attack the ring and knocks everyone out. AJ then throws out everyone on his own to ends to show. On Raw the next night Vince comes out says, even though AJ wasn't in the Rumble last night. He's under contract to the Wwe and Vince likes his cahones and he grabbed the brass ring. So he's the new champ. This leads to a split between Vince and HHH with Steph stuck in the middle. Wrestlemania main event Team Roman (ok i know it be called HHH) HHH, Brock, Roman, Bryan and Bray vs Team Balor (Team Vince) (samoa joe is number 5) in a war games match.
  18. In the power of pain shoot interview, Barbarian says Haku just took a dislike to the guy and bit his nose off. In other interviews it was because the guy asked "if you are with those fake wrestlers" and that's why he did it. What ever the reason, it seems like an overreaction to a situation.
  19. Yeah probably, with my skills lol
  20. The problem i always have with wrestlers in bar fight story's, is who it is they beating up. I could walk into a bar or club, walk up to a guy and knock him out or take out his eye and say I'm a bad ass. But if that guy is 12 beers to the wind or 130 pounds wet, 5.4 inch's tall, what does that say about me. No, I'm not saying I could take on a Haku or even the Miz, as I'm not a fighter or in even in shape. But most wrestlers are over 6 ft tall and 200 pound's, in shape with some sort of self defence training. whether it's amateur wrestling or basic shoot training when they started wrestling. (maybe not so much now) Marty Jannetty tells a story about Scott Hall punching him in the face when he was sleeping at a I think AWA show back stage. Because the night before someone ran up a bar tap to his room and he thought it was him. Think it was Curt Hennig who was behind this. Does that make Hall a tough street fighter or a coward? Or a smart fighter? Do I think in a fight Marty could beat Hall, not for one second. But Hall wasn't looking for a fair fight, he just wanted to hurt the guy. But it makes hall more dangerous, as he's the type of guy who would tap you on the shoulder in a bar and then put a glass in your face when you turned around. When Bill watts tells a story about how he maimed someone, I just think he's a bully and was picking on someone he could beat up. Even in his book when Danny Hodge asked him to get in the ring for a friendly wrestle to test him, he refused because he knew he couldn't take him. From what I know about the Haku nose biting story, he was drunk, saw a guy he didn't like the look of, walked up to him and just bit his nose off. I think the guy was sitting down at the time. Not saying Haku not tough, or an animal in a fight, but the guy he took on I'm guessing wasn't a street fighter or a big tough looking dude, just a guy in the wrong place at the wrong time. But this story helped to give Haku a rep as someone not to mess with. I just be more impressed if he had tried it on with an Orndoff type of guy, Not saying he wouldn't if he and Orndoff had got into a fight. Just saying you should take bar fight story's with a pinch of salt.
  21. Hulk, Dibiase, Jake the snake are all amazing with there performances. I wouldn't call one of those, the greatest wrestler ever ether. Savage has had only about 7 matches that I would say are great matches. this is over his whole career. For the greatest wrestler ever, I would think you need a in ring body of work with a higher output of classic matches.
  22. Book that Taker goes into the rumble to win, so he can headline Wrestlemaina, Cena eliminates him. Cena wins the Rumble, but Undertaker wants him at Wrestlemaina. Cena only agrees if he's giving up his title shot, then Undertaker must put his career on the line.
  23. Makin a Case for Randy Savage as the Greatest Wrestler Ever Um we not talking about the most matches ever, but when you read the heading of this thread. You need a body of work that Savage just doesn't have.
  24. Savage is one of my favorites of all time, but im struggling if I can name more than 7 great matches of his on tape. Still don't see a case as the greatest wrestler, personality yes but not wrestler.
