Lets guess, Randy Orton driving the limo

Has any other top star had such a lackluster career like Orton?
ragemaster replied to rzombie1988's topic in Pro Wrestling
The problem is he's just so damn lazy, when he started wrestling early in career he would work his long headlock spots like a 70's wrestler. It's what made him stand out, as no one else was doing it anymore, now he just sits in them boring everyone to sleep. He should be trying to work like a young Barry Windham, not a old Barry Darsow. -
Was it just me, or did the king look like he was having trouble holding it together, when he did the induction for Beth phoenix?

Greatest WWF/E IC Championship Match of All Time?
ragemaster replied to awesomemiz's topic in Pro Wrestling
In a shoot interview Steamboat talked about a match he had with savage, that went for about 50 minutes. Said afterwards they were both blue, because of the pace of the match. They had to keep wrestling because the main event was late to the building. Sure he said it was in Toronto, is this just a case of a wrestler exaggerating or did it actually happen. I guess even if it did happen, it probably never made it onto tape. But we can live in hope. -
From memory it was because people were comparing Daniel Bryan to top draws like Cena and Austin because of the reaction he got from the crowds. Dave was pointing out that his Merchandise and rating painted a different reality and it was more the crowds was into doing the yes chant. If Seth got the same reaction as Daniel did at shows, there be more in-depth analyst of his drawing power. But from Seth crowd reactions, its obvious he's not that over.

Most matches last about the 20 to 30 mins mark for a main event at the dome, it was over 20 mins into this match before the crowd really invested ito it. I get its not 1993 AJPW where the fans are going crazy from the bell for Misawa. Or 1980's going crazy for Hogan vs Bossman. But they should be investing before the 10 min mark or why wrestle for so long if people aren't into it. If you can't get the people up before then what you doing is just filler, its not like they did leg work for 20 min's which added to the drama at the end. Just for a comparison, when Cena vs Styles happens at the rumble. Even if it not there best match or as good as this one, the crowd going ape shit from the start is going to make it feel like a bigger and a better match. Why do you think so many on the board are re watching 70's and 80's wrestling. Yes the story telling and believability in the matches, but I argue its the crowds reactions which add so much to them.

This thread gone off track, maybe someone wants to split the talk about the shield into its own thread. I've only watched the omega vs Okada match so far, as there's been so much talk about it. I think the big issue I have with it, is the crowd take so long to invest into it. Until they turn the crazy level up, they just sat on there hands. Also Okada seems to have no charisma, hard to invest in any match when the wrestlers are just going from spot from spot. I need to feel the wrestlers are trying to win a match, not just set up spots. I think this is why people like savage are look back on so fondly, you believe they trying to win a fight. Did get caught up in it, like the crowd from the spring board to the floor Moonsault and the backdrop though the table when it went up to another level. Not sure its any crazier than Styles 450 springboard though a table, but wouldn't surprise me if Styles try's the back drop at the Rumble. Not the greatest match I've seen this year, let alone the best match ever.

Isn't this a redundant question, as the matches' are being laid out by the agents in the back. Its been reported that the reason the woman matches in NXT were so good, is because they had time to practice them. It would be interesting to be in the room when the matches are being put together and see how much impact the girls have in laying them out. The question should be, who portrays a wrestler better, this is aimed at most of the roster. It's not a dig at the woman, but on how the WWE micromanages everything.

The match felt like a bit of a prick tease, they climbed up the cage at the beginning, only to climb down for the power bomb spot. They over played the stretcher tease, especially after they stopped the best of 7 series the month before to "protect" the wrestlers. I think it hurt the match, Sasha jumping off the stretcher and fighting to get back into the cage. She should of started to fight as soon as they attempted to put her on to the stretcher. With the hate they showed, its a shame they didn't allow them blood. As without a big bump at the end, it felt anticlimactic. If Sasha was covered in blood and if Charlotte had chucked her a couple more times onto the table. Then she had put her finisher on her, it would have made for a more dramatic end.

When did the wrestlers turn into the marks, James Dudley is in it for fuck sake, a limo driver. Bret always was the biggest mark, Vince will put in who he wants if he thinks he can make money of them. Or in the case of James Dudley, probably a nice thing to do for a friend/good employee of his. Are the wrestlers the only ones thinking this is legit?

Wasn't impressed at all with the match, Not on the same level as the final conflict cage match. Don't get me wrong its a good match, but not to the level of hype it received. I hadn't seen the Bret vs Austin match from south Africa before. So I put it on afterwards, thought this blew the last battle away. Surprised I've not heard more hype for it, better than there match at the In your house ppv.

He still remembers "This will be Your Wrestlemaina moment" landing on his head doing a shooting star press. So I doubt he's going to destroy his body, doing the type of match Dean wanted him to do.
-
Maybe Brock knew he wanted to fight in UFC and didn't want to injure himself in a hard match. Or Dean at that point had been buried so much by the company, it made no sense to give him a competitive match and Brock was just protecting his gimmick.

The easiest thing to do because the depth of both divisions is weak, would have been have the women on smackdown and the tags on Raw. Also should have overhauled the whole set, give them a ramp like wcw/Noah. Change the barriers and give the commentators different tables. Get ride of the blue lighting and the video walls. But all of this is superficial, until they address the issue of how they are scripting the shows. The whole run of shows, up to the split has been boring and uninspired. Sack the whole writing team and spend some money on quality writers rather than just having quantity. I would hire two per show and one other person who understands how wrestling works to keep them on track/logic of how wrestling works. Then as Vince has paid for them to do a job, Vince should give them the direction he wants them to go in. Once he's done this, they should be left to write the shows as that's what he's paying them for. But the biggest issue is they need to change how they push stars, 50/50 booking needs to end. Its crazy Ambrose is champion after the way he's been booked. Apart from Cena and Lesnar, nobody has credibility of a world champion on ether brand. If Ambrose lost next week to Del Rio or even the Miz who would be surprised. If the Wwe were booking for the future, they should start rebuilding Ambrose now to beat Lesner at Summerslam. Have Lesnar come out at next week's smackdown and destroy Orton, then have him demand to face Ambrose at Summerslam. Ambrose could then ask Undertaker to train him (to help with his credibility) and then show training videos with them leading up the match.

If Bischoff coming in, they should off on Monday had Vince come out and swerve both Steph and Shane. Vince should have done a speech about competition and when it was at it strongest it was when he was at war with WCW. Then drop the Bombshell that Smackdown is dead and Nitro is back and Bischoff Running it.

UFC 200: Because Lesnar is a Pro Wrestler
ragemaster replied to Ricky Jackson's topic in Pro Wrestling
I don't know why you don't make Brock the champ of both brands rather than having two belts. Have him make the title mean something and only defend it four times a year like a UFC or boxing belt. Make the Ic and us titles the focus of each show for the monthly ppv and then when the world title is defended, it will mean more on the big shows. Also have the woman's belt on one show and the tag belts on the other show. -
If i was Vince i would fine Owens and Sami there pay for that bump, to pay for whatever sugery owens is going to need down the line. I would also sack the agent backstage who gave the ok for it, as well.

Why do the contract thing on Raw if it means nothing, AJ lost his last 3 big matches. If you cant have Cena losing clean, do a more subtle cheat ending. One of the many things the Wwe do wrong, is not live up to it's advertising of it's stips,

this Aj Styles, Cena match, is everything wrong with WWE booking

When i say business model, I mean there business model on how they book the shows. They need to get over there inferiority complex and get rid of 90% of the writers. I think because other TV shows have writers, they feel they need them too. So they can clam they are in the entertainment business and not the wrestling business. They need to stop being scared of heels getting heat and cut down on the stupid comedy. I think if they booked like a wrestling promotion, instead of a two and a half men knock off. They might find there's a rise in there TV shows viewership.

It just shows how much of a failure this brand split is going to be if they dont think they have the talent now to carry it. The problem is always the same, they incapable of making new stars. Or I should say they don't want new stars, they only interested in pushing the brand. The treatment of how Daniel Bryan was pushed, how the woman's division being booked. How Dean Ambrose been made to look in all his feuds, until he losses any momentum that he had. How they cant see Roman Reigns needed to be turned a heel months ago and Seth Rollins should have of come back as a face. The company been out of touch for years, this split may just be the thing which losses them there tv business altogether. Until they revaluate there whole business model, nothing going to change.

Yeah, but they didn't. Yes I must be imagining the quietness between the spots. Dude re watch the match, the proof doesn't lie. -

Guess we're working with completely different definitions of "heat" and "wrestling match" then if it's just a coincidence that a number of those spots ended on notes that were about them going neck and neck together and the crowd was only eating up because it was so stiff (when it wasn't actually "brutal" in any sense of the word). I'm just saying for me it came across as an exhibition of skills rather than a match, and the crowd backed this up. If anything for the style they were trying to wrestle, if I was them. I give up on rest spots and the attempts of selling and just do spot after spot until the finish. That's what the crowd wanted to see, so why not give it to them. As for how brutal it was or not, with all the concussion knowledge we have now. Some of those shots looked way too hard and dangerous. -

I'm not saying the crowd doesn't make noise, but its not heat in any real sense of the word. After each big spot they are waiting to be wowed by the next big spot. I have no issue with the spots, the "flippy posing sequence in the beginning" is just a updated sequence that been done for 20/30 years. Not saying I didn't appreciate all the athleticism involved in the match, but the crowd wasn't involved in the match as a wrestling match. They loved the high spots and that's all they were clapping for, or the stiff looking flying knee to head or brutal looking head kicks. Not once were they invested in who would win the match, just what crazy thing they would see next. -

If the guys did anything wrong, it was resting between spots, they should just have continued to throw in as many crazy ass spots as they could, and forgot about any attempt's at selling. If you listen to the crowd, they only reacted to the spots and then sat on there hands until the next one. It wasn't a match that engaged the crowd and got them caught up in the magic of the match or even any sense of real competition. The crowd was only interested in the next crazy high spot and wasn't reacting to the match with any emotional investment. I was sad when after every spot the crowd shut up and said what you going to show us next. I guess at the end of the day if wrestling ever entered the Olympics, this would be the end result.
