In my fantasy booking mind, i would of had Cena cost Undertaker the streak against Lesnar. Then you could of had a year to build to the "biggest" Match in mania history.

The problem with any suggestions, is they proven they a tired out of touch company. They not going to change anything until Vince is dead, if even then. Lets take the Charlotte, Reid angle for a start. Forget how out of taste it is for a moment, I'm not defending it. But in there heads they thought this was a good idea, a week out from a ppv and rushed though it with no thought for long term. Any normal person or booker (wouldn't of done it I know) would have waited and laid out a long term plan for it. You inform the audience about Reid and have Charlotte do a throw away line about how this win is for her brother Reid. Then Cole in a low voice just lays out the fact that he passed and part of the reason Charlotte here is for Reid memory. In other words you build for the line "he did not have much fight in him" This is over a 6 week period not one night. I don't want to lay out the whole angle as its in poor taste. But my point is they forgotten how to do basic booking. Same with the build to Undertaker and Brock at the first Wrestlemaina match. Which is why it was dead with the crowd, as they did such a piss poor job with booking it. That's going back to a year earlier to where HHH beat Brock at wrestlemania. Or even Brock losing to Cena in his first match back with the company. I do agree with everything you said, but even normal suggesting's, aren't going to be taking on board. As a company/Vince can't change there mentally when it comes to booking. They are too busy trying not to be a wrestling company, that they forgotten that's what they do.

I thought the whole point of this thread is fantasy booking.

Simple you book different than raw, do training video's of the top girls, you need to book them as athletes. Go to the home town of your top face or heel and talk to people about her. There's lots of filler they could do, hell copy Ajpw from the 80's, if you have a girl who can sing have her do her own entrance. Anything to make them different than the men. You could grab 5 to 7 girls from Japan, make a tag division as well. With ad breaks its about 45 mins of TV, you don't need 40 or 50 girls to book around. It's not hard to do, its just the WWE at the moment seems to have forget how to book a wrestling show.

One idea would be to help Raw and the diva division, is to split the three hour Raw show. Make hour one the woman show, run it from a smaller hall like the Manhattan centre to give it is own vibe. Then Raw's back to being a two hour show and USA gets its three hours of wrestling. Also you can keep acts like Lana and the Bella's on raw, away from the real woman's wrestling. Stephanie has to be kept on raw and away from the division, as an on screen talent as she can't help but undermine the girls.

Yes, with all the deaths in wrestling your be a fool not to think wrestling should be banned. Not even thinking off the wrestlers who have died, but the family's left behind. I also know it was morally wrong, when Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin was marketed to kids. But I still watch it, as I'm an adult with no kids and I put my enjoyment of wrestling above what I know to be morally right. As I've been told, my morals aren't the best lol But in the above post, I was pointing out that Bob Backlund was right in his belief not to watch MMA. Because of the brain damage it can cause in its fighters. I watch MMA by the way, so I'm saying that Bob's a better man than me for not watching it.

He's not wrong on the sugar, its got so bad in the UK because of strain it puts on the NHS. With obesity and diabetes now appearing in kids much earlier, as well as adults, there's talk of putting a tax on sugar. Its not just in soda, its put into most foods as well, so its a real problem. As for punching in MMA, it would kill the sport but he's 100% right not to watch for moral reasons. As we all know by now, the long term damage repeated blows to head causes.

Just came across this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwdDu4vn_iU May be from this "Casse-tĂȘte chinois pour le judoka" Made in 1967 Thought it would be of interest.

Is this the famous 5-star Tsuruta-Tenryu match?

Kids now miss out on the fun of ordering a tape and waiting four weeks for it to turn up. Then watching a match that's has a crowd in black and white and two wrestlers so out of sync and blurred that if it wasn't written on the listing your have no idea who they were. God I miss those days, it was like Christmas every time a tape showed up. Then you would see if at the end of the tape, if there was an unlisted Gem. Now with wrestling so easy to watch, I think its lost some of the fun. -
Liked the main event but dam Bayley needs to work on her ring presence. Before the first lock up, she just looked like she didn't belong in the ring. Big difference between her and Asuka. Needs to focus on her opponent and not the floor, its a small thing but just made the match not feel like a main event.

This one of my favourite matches ever due to the crowd reaction. I can't find the full version at the moment, which also has a fan being thrown to the floor before the match starts and a much longer celebration after the match as well. âBut to me this is a five star match and um yes it has big daddy in it.

If they going with Undertater Vs Brock at wrestlemania they need to have Brock going over really strong. I would have him go over in about 6 min's, with the undertaker getting in one desperation tombstone. Brock then sits up like he did against Cena last year and laughs, f5's him and pins him clean. Then you do a Ufc style build for Wrestlemaina, have training videos with Undertaker being trained by Ronda Rousey. You could also use people like Cain Velasquez and Randy Couture in the camp. Done right it could be the biggest match in history, Just a shame they have destroyed there ppv business with the network.

Seth beats Cena, then Sheamus cashes in and thinks he's won the world title. But Hunter then comes out and rules it was for the US belt and not the world title.

Would also add who's worse Shawn for being a dick, and not losing a fake title. Or Bret for calling him out for being a bad role model and his bad behaviour. When he was just as bad cheating on his wife in a real marriage. My point is there's lots of shits in wrestling, from Bill watts being a sadistic guy who got pleasure beating up people in real fights and maiming them. To Andre the giant being a racist, in the case of Shawn the only person you can blame is Vince. Vince is the boss and let him get away with it, just like he agreed with Bret that his title loss to the Mountie wouldn't be shown on tv to protect Bret's ego.

It's volontarily taking the shittiest bump for Diesel's powerbomb at Mania 11 to make him look bad. Yeah. Even to his best pal he was an asshole at points. Lol Shawn didn't take it wrong Diesel threw him down wrong. If you ever been in the ring and takin a powerbomb, your only really in control of jumping up to take the move. Once your up, its up to your opponent and gravity to control how you take it. Diesel did it in one motion and stepped to the side. If he had stopped and controlled him better he would of landed flat on his back.

This is a horrible thing to point out and I think he had already passed away. But the way he was moved of the ropes could of easily done more damage to his neck. Any movement to a broken neck, is the difference between life death and being paralysed for the rest of your life. Just want people to be aware that if they come across someone with a neck injury, don't move them. Obviously at the time Konnan didn't know it was a neck injury, so its not a go at him. -
Think they missed a trick with the finish to the Zayn vs Owens match. Should have been a ref stoppage when Owens was hitting him in the ropes and Zayn wasn't defending due to the concussion. Much more realistic than the power bombs stoppage which felt stupid, that the ref let him hit so many before he stepped in and then stopped it.

The truth is if Bryan loses at fast lane, they will need to give him a main event level match at Mania. The only two men I can see the fans accepting Bryan wrestle at Mania are Batista playing of last year match, or Shawn Michael's who if he was coming back would be more likely to be in tag match, with HHH against sting/Rock. As Shawn and Rock have both said Sting is the one guy they would both like to work with. If Bryan loses due to interference from a big name it might just appease the fans, as it would set up a big match at mania. If the plan is for Bryan to wrestle Kane, Ziggler, Sheamus or the big show, it would just piss off the fans, as they not a main event level match.
-
If they are going to book Bryan vs. Sheamus at Wrestlemania, why they didn't let Bryan enter and eliminate Sheamus in/under 18 seconds. Then Sheamus re-enters hits him with a chair throws him out, then they brawl into the crowd for the next 5 minutes . If they do a hot enough brawl it would distract the crowd that he was gone, put heat on Sheamus and set up the Wrestlemania match. 18 sec vs. 18 sec feud,

I don't think this is any great fault of Meltzer's. There's nothing that says the proper way to watch and rate a match is multiple viewings with an analytical eye. Judging a match by what you thought when you watched it live is a perfectly valid way to do it. Plus Dave as we all know is really big on judging things solely in context and not trying to re-watch or re-rate matches after the fact. I agree, I was just pointing out how a match at the time could get such a high rating.
-
The match I think should be up for discussion is Bret Hart Vs. Steve Austin at Wrestlemania. Personally I prefer the Survivor Series match, don't get me wrong I like the match. But a large part of the match is where they take a pedestrian walk around the arena and then the back to the ring. For the double turn and it's place in history for making Austin, I can see why people like it. But as a wrestling match, I find it overrated and the brawling is just so boring. I will say the ending is one of my favourite ending to any match, just wish it was on the Survivor series match instead.
-
The main reason I think Bret and Owen was overrated at the time is because I doubt Meltzer re watched it after his first viewing. When i first saw the match, I was caught up in the drama of who was going to win. I used to watch wrestling like a sport and get emotionally caught up in the action. i was buzzing when it ended thinking it was the best match I've ever seen. Mainly because they built a bout with some great escape attempts which were believable and I didn't know who was going to win. The next day I couldn't wait to watch the match again, as like I said I love it. God was that a mistake, it was the biggest disappointment I can remember. Slow plodding and poor use of the cage, totally different experience than my first viewing. This is the only match I can think of, where knowing who wins changes the viewing experience so much. I believe Meltzer saw it once like me, did his write up and never watched it again.

John Lister wrote a very good four page article about Jackie Pallo in Fighting Spirit Magazine recently that would make a good foundation for the sort of more in depth piece you're looking for ragemaster. Thanks for the info, i try and track down a copy
