  1. Listing of mine and Parv's lists: http://placetobenation.com/parv-and-chads-top-100-matches-of-all-time/
  2. 90's All Japan stuff is fine but I think Takayama's best case for 90's work may be his early UWFI stuff as it has been incredibly entertaining to watch.
  3. Have you listened to the shows???? If not, stop posting in this thread! Brainfollower above spelled out a fair rebuttal AFTER listening. You may think that discussing Flair is unnecessary. Not everyone agrees with you, but yet those individuals are just randomly posting in the thread about how much something like this was needed.
  4. One thing I enjoyed with Part 2 was how that Flair switched up his generic promos selling the house shows. For instance, his one for MSG has him showing much more charisma and using more of his Slick Ric persona talking about limousines than the one he does in the more blue collared Boston area.
  5. Peachstate can't ever get on MY Schedule as I have seen two really good shows from them this year but the Wargames and July 4th show with the Rave vs. Dean Iron Man, i was unable to attend. The first Dean vs. Rave match was really, really good with Rave getting busting open and creating some great sympathy heat from him. P-Dawg has also been lighting it up as he gets huge heat when he comes out and does his rap gimmick. PWA has done a better job this year of bringing in select "name" guys, establishing a strong Heritage Champion in Rave, and letting the localish talent like Simon, Dusty Mac, Stupid excel in areas that better suit them.
  6. Interesting discussion in the Game of Thrones section. The Austin vs. Michaels against Sting vs. Vader discussion was especially interesting. I look forward to seeing how the brackets break out and to see how far historical significance, memorability, and big moment feel win out over superior overall matches.
  7. BUTCH!!! was awesome Holy shit was this show great. So much knowledge and it feels like we could have multiple versions on Chikky, Abdullah in Puerto Rico, TNT, etc. Boricua was a gold mine and a great podcast debut for him. One of the best pods I have heard this year.
  8. Captivating stuff here with Lawler again making sense and really drawing himself to the Memphis faithful in a believable way. This has been a tremendous feud so far.
  9. What a great heel promo from Vince. Everything you think of him in the 1998 role was using this as the starting off point. I love the dynamic of this feud currently.
  10. Clips of the Neighbors vs. Lawler match. Huge heat for Vince and he has Pat Patterson as back up. Vince tripping up Lawler was awesome and him taking forever to get his jacket off and deliver a good looking punch. The clips looked fun and Lawler giving a fireball to a stretchered Neighbors was a nice touch. Give me more McMemphis please.
  11. Jake slaps a woman to start things off. Lovely. DDP is at ringside. Good Gawd. This was honestly awful to me. I do like the character work of Jake of course but nothing here really connected and there was just a few snippets of something great like him slamming Sagrada. Overall, i guess I am lower on this show than everyone else that has went through these discs but this was really bad in my eyes. *1/2
  12. This was another one that left me really cold. Maybe it was the wrong time but this just felt like a bunch of schtick that I took as guys being lazy instead of innovative. Again, you have some all timers in there and instead we get some generic action and Love Machine really clowning it up. Something about the AAA style here doesn't really resonate me despite the loaded roster. **1/2
  13. This never got going for me. Estrada is someone I enjoy a good deal but I agree he was out of it here. The rey vs. Psic sequences were good of course but they didn't have anything else to really bring this thing to a good level. Tirantes finish doesn't help things. I expected a lot more given the talent in the ring. **3/4
  14. What a load of fun this match was. Great action all around and Expectrito and Mascarita show the makings of what will become an amazing rivalry for these two. Jerrito almost looks too tall to be a mini but he is scuzzy as his older protege. This was a great 1-2 punch behind Kong vs. Kansai. ****
  15. What an awesome match. This never gets ahead of itself but yet delivers a wonderful story overall. The strong spots and testing early really lead to the payoff in the end in a great way. Kansai is shown to be an equal to Kong which is a task in of itself and that really developed a sense of peril that you are unaccustomed to since Kong extinguished Nakano the year earlier. The Splash Mountain nearfall in particular is one of the best ones I can ever recall seeing. Joshi has been awesome in 1993 but a lot of it has been high octane joshi that still tells a compelling story. It was rewarding and refreshing to see a big time joshi slugfest deliver. ****3/4
  16. Really glad to at least see some focus from Eddie as we are nearing the end of his stay in ECW. Still think overall, this has been a pretty inauspicious start for the promotion as a whole.
  17. Good to see Shane's debut here but ECW really feels odd with Muraco and Snuka hanging around doing pretty much nothing of note.
  18. Weird studio and not as good as the July match but still a lot to like here for me as this had a long but really solid base to start things off and then escalated into a really fun ending sequence. I remain impressed at the restraint shown by the youngsters in these matches and the fact that almost everything is hit really smoothly. M-Pro continues to be one of my favorite things to watch throughout the year. ***1/2
  19. Everything about the presentation and crowd of that FWA show makes me cringe.
  20. This build up has been great with seeing the contrast the same two guys have in WWF land and Memphis. Looking forward to SummerSlam match even more.
  21. Lets climb a cage, rinse, repeat. A sad swan song for Money Inc. and they look really dated and out of place now on Raw. *3/4
  22. Great old man brawl. Stiff punches, dramatic pinfalls, Some Tirantes stuff that wasn't awful. This is a win in my book even besides the flaws. I think the hate and charisma of this match compared to the also flawed matches that preceded it show the minor differences that can make or break a match. ****
  23. This match was fine and really long which was refreshing. However, the main thing that I took away from this is that even though Sting vs. Flair isn't one of my favorite Flair feuds at all, the matches they have are all a good bit different. Starrcade 89, GAB 90, Clash 1, and this one all feel really different. I think the first portion of this match was really engaging and when they would flub things, they really covered it well. Interesting stuff to watch. ***1/4
  24. Finally some genuine emotion thrust back into this angle. Good to see Cactus vowing revenge and salvaging what he can of the Cleveland skits.
