I liked his match vs. Kawada from June 2004.

Eddy has enlisted Silver King to inflict some disciple to family member Rey for misbehaving. They speak some Spanish lines. I am not optimistic about the month that lies ahead so far.

I hated this. They treat it like Hogan died and say no matter what, we love the Hulkster at the end. What? This dude has been a complete asshole to the fans for over two years now.

Vince is jovial in England. These last short segments feel like the extras tacked onto this disc in a weird way.- 3 replies

[1998-12-06-WWF-Sunday Night Heat] Bone Crunchin' Buddies

Much like the figures now pale in comparison to the golden age of Hasbro, these are a far cry from the Wrestling Buddies I grew up with. -
[1998-12-06-WWF-Super Astros] Negro Casas vs Dick Togo
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in December 1998
Yeah, this is a fine 4 minute match but mostly here because it is these two guys wrestling in a WWE setting of all things. Negro seems to have some beef with Kaeintai. They certainly could have filled out Raw cards with this stuff. (*3/4)- 3 replies

Hales vs. Lawler has now turned into Baxter vs. Hales and the spark is just not there from what we have seen. I guess Falk is playing the Memphis version of the stooges here. I do love Dave and Cory's sign off for the show as they seem like they really enjoyed themselves and cant wait for next week.

[1998-12-05-MPPW-TV] Bill Dundee vs Brian Christopher
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in December 1998
Dundee needs to let go of those trunks at this point in his life. His punches look good and the action is ok but I always get a sense of Christopher trying too hard. The finish was a mess. The referee takes a great bump and we get a teaser with Stasiak coming in but then Dundee rolls Christopher up and the referee botches the count. Christopher paste him with a chair because of that and the match gets thrown out finally. (*1/4)- 4 replies

This match kind of blew me away. How much of the 98 RWTL is available because with these two teams, Taue/Kawada and Misawa/Ogawa, that is a good core base. I thought the way that Vader and Hansen were just complete bullies was amazing. They really built to this grand finish. My favorite spot was right before the finish when Akiyama tries to get into the ring to make a save and Hansen just casually kicks him right in the face. Vader and Hansen were using great potato shots that were a nice mixture from the forearms, chops and elbow smashes. The finish was grand with Burning getting off that one sequence they need and Kobashi's lariat being presented as ultimate death again. Fantastic end to 1998 AJPW. (****1/2)

Agree that they crafted a good match mixing in high octane spots around a traditional southern formula. The crowd was bizarre and the announcing live forced me to turn the volume down. A couple of spots I really liked was the miss dive by Helms followed by the missed elbow drop and Jeff's senton to the outside was nasty. This wasn't great to me either but very good and very promising to the future for all four guys. (***1/2)

This was like the B-team Pulp Fiction with all sorts of underlings and midcarders talking ineffectively. Tommy Rogers promo may honestly be one of the worst in wrestling history before he is mercifully attacked by the Dudley's.

[1998-11-30-WWF-Raw] Steve Austin, Kane and Paul Bearer
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in November 1998
Not as bad as last week but still dreadful with Austin and Kane suddenly allies now and Paul getting dumped into a sewer. -
[1998-11-30-WWF-Raw] Mankind vs Big Bossman (Ladder)
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in November 1998
Shawn dispatches of the JOB squad and then has some tough critiques on the spots in the match. Oh, Boss Man gets a 10! This was pretty fun and the bump Rock gives Foley off the ladder is nasty with Foley's leg looking like it could of got caught. I also thought Rock looked weird here with tennis shoes and his trunks. The beatdown of him, Bossman and Shawn at the end is a weird trio in wrestling history. (*3/4) -
I was happy to see Chyna come around to Mark and legit laughed both at Mark presenting D-Lo with the hat and Chyna recognizing him. The part with the guys getting beat up was contrived but overall this has actually been a grade above most of the "real life" stuff we have seen lately and I enjoyed it.

Another good brawl between this two that climaxes with Goldberg spearing Bigelow in the grass to a huge pop.

[1998-11-30-WCW-Nitro] Contract Signing: Goldberg vs Kevin Nash
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in November 1998
God, I hated Nash doing the Wolf ears here. He basically is clowning Goldberg and is justified in what happens at Starrcade. I am still firmly in the Bigelow vs. GOldberg camp at this point.- 5 replies

[1998-11-30-WCW-Nitro] Eric Bischoff and Dean Malenko

Dusty's appearances this year have been nothing short of random. I can't decide if they could have used him more or just enough. Bischoff is taking out his frustrations on the Horseman members now.- 4 replies

Another great, emotionally charged Flair promo with him admitting his advanced age but still saying he still has some fight left in him. Im shocked this angle still feels this fresh two months in with as little physical interaction as they have done.

Jericho had more confidence and intuitativeness here than he has in ring at any point in the year. This was shockingly good as Charles said and Konnan was made to look effective. Jericho toned down his playing to the crowd spots and worked on getting his opponent over and being a ring general. Cool payback finish with the belt shot. Seeing Luger and Nash come out to celebrate made me realize how depleted the Wolfpac is with Sting and Macho out. (**3/4)
