  1. Das wunderkid is back. Gene looking annoyed at wright never gets old. Security escorts him out.
  2. They are booking these main events just enough over the top to make them fun. Sad to see weird goldust be done but at least they pulled the plug before it got played out. The match was bordering on good and greatly enhanced by Vince and brisco. Austin keeps surviving against the odds to come out ahead. (**3/4)
  3. Val is getting some road head. This character looks really bad now to me and I'm ready for him to debut.
  4. This was short but sweet with dude miffed at goldust getting the spot and Vince getting caught off guard. More good attention to detail stuff.
  5. Really good promo by Vince and the #1 heel in the company. Brisco as a stooge is wonderful and we get a good main event with brisco as the referee tonight
  6. Agree that Dude feels off here in this role. The love shack itself overall is kind of weird with two flat crowd reaction segments in a row now. Dude says that the feud with Austin is far from over.
  7. Did feel way bigger when it happened as some of the jokes feel lame and dated now but this was a cool moment DX becoming hip babyfaces invading the dastardly WCW in a funny way. WCW wouldn't look as cool from here on out in their shots against the WWF.
  8. I agree that Bret wasn't dogging it here, just not in a win situation. He is in the forefront of the convoluted NWO mess but there is no rhyme or reason for what he did and they are playing up the explanation as some great unknown. Bret seems frustrated and their is many other ways they could have interjected Bret into the picture. This made me long for the Flair feud and i didn't think that was the right way to introduce him to WCW either.
  9. Speaking of dwindling highlights in WCW, this is one of them. Jericho does a funny promo asking the cardboard cutout questions and saying that Dean is being more talkative than usual. I cant wait for Malenko to put him in his place.
  10. Short promo from Juvy telling us the genesis of the Aztec Warrior name given to him by his father.
  11. We get a survey from Nash and it still unsure whether he is face/heel/ or what at this point. He announces the Wolfpack is expanding and we get Savage officially joining as well as K-Dawg. I really hate K-Dawg and he cuts a promo here that did nothing to change that. Nash feels so muddled with all these feuds interspersed. WCW is in a pretty big rut with only a few highlights now. A far departure from a few months before where they only had a few lowlights in the show.
  12. Oh, i actually really loved Ross and Lawler's interplay in this match. I do think it is risky of Ross being so adament about questioning Vince but I can see Vince sort of enjoying that type of asshole gimmick and playing it up. Austin was on offense for a bit too much in this match and Dude's offense was surprisingly poor and uninspired. Still, Dude does some great bumps including the hiptoss off the band stage and suplex onto the steps. The finish was good with the callback to abdominal stretch spot and the crackling chair shot to Vince which is kind of ambiguous where Austin was aiming. The aftermath of Dude being announced the winner by DQ and Vince being stretchered showed that this feud had a ton of legs. (***1/2)
  13. I liked all the action we got here as it looked more cohesive and impressive than the Mania clips. I do think the Inferno gimmick hampered the finish as it was anticlimactic but the dive from Taker and drum set being busted on Paul Bearer were great spots. Kane is looking pretty bad in this feud so far.
  14. Stacey was hanging out in some of the 1997 USWA stuff. Sad to see Austin flaked out as I thought his gimmick had legs. Anyway, Memphis is usually good at ad-libbing some stuff and Lawler and Dundee are two of the best leading a good brawl around the studio. Stuff feels kind of business as usual in Memphis.
  15. Up there with some of the Dawna segments in the WTF dept of the 90's. Kid Wikkid tells the world what he is all about with the beats blasting in the background. After the promo, we learn does he really believe this bullshit. The answer is still unclear but it feels like Wikkid is so diluted that he does believe this nonsense.
  16. My #2 match of the year and one of the best lucha trios of the decade. I loved the escalation and variety of styles that transpired throughout this match. You had some great wrestling between Panther vs. Atlantis and the Santo vs. Casas feud still feels fresh as ever and an heated event. The third caida breaks down into more of a brawl and I do want to give credit to Niebla and Black Warrior as even though they were my least favorite competitors in this, they still held up their own and had a really good sequence where they faked each other out leading to a dive. Speaking of dives, Santo delivers a beautiful one here. Finish is a mask rip which could feel pretty cheap but fit the storyline here. I loved this break in the yearbook of lucha. (****1/2)
  17. Man this was great. Greco wrestling and reversals were so slick and ishikawa matches him with some nasty strikes. Everything here served a purpose and was a struggle. The finishing octopus submission looked especially great with ish calf stiffly on Grecos cheek. One if the best matches of the year so far. (****1/4)
  18. I thought this was one if those hidden gem matches someone had dug up until the finish happened and I remembered that this fit the time line. The Luger vs buff sequences were well done and actually made me think a ppv match of them two wouldn't be that bad. The injury was unfortunate and everyone handled it as well as could be expected. (**1/2)
  19. Here is a desperate plea to make taz like Austin that failed terribly. The stuff vs Shane wasn't even that bad but when it becomes a shoot with him threatening Joey, I checked out.
  20. Gertner is straight and you are not. The way he weaves sandman's injury with the dreamer vs raven feud of 1995 is kind of odd but works. This has probably been the best booked match for the PPV but it hasn't been flawless by any means
  21. Fuck the editing. Again, the action is really hot with Liger going face to face with the dick trio and Delphin showing a lot of fire. Finish is a feather in the cap for the trios on the rise.
  22. Me and Loss aren't seeing eye to eye on FMW as this was my favorite match sans the January Gannosuke one. Gannosuke takes control early and dies a disgusting power bomb through the table. Shinzaki is really on the defensive which makes his come back that much better. The finishing stretch certainly featured big moves but it had more time to breathe than the hayabusa match from march. It feels like an event when Jinsei wins. (***3/4)
  23. Yeah, this was shit and really desperate. Bret helps Hogan win the title without any rhyme or reason. Sad enough, the pieces are still there for this all to work out and Hogan vs. Nash without all the shenanigans would be a hot program. Savage now looks like a crazy lame duck guy and I will be interested to see when he rehabilitates.
  24. Goldberg matches so far have been mostly fun squashes and the match vs. Saturn showed what him in the main event picture could look like. This match should have cemented it as it was great and perfectly worked. Goldberg steamrolls through the entire Flock after taking some great damage. Raven tries to bail and in an awesome moment gets thrown back in by the fans. The two spears receive a thunderous reaction and Goldberg wins the US title after a Jackhammer. Incredible moment and reaction. (***1/2)
  25. Jericho has a mural of that little trooper Dean Malenko. It is a good news/bad news situation as Dean will never wrestle again but he has a promising job interview tomorrow. The crowd chants Jericho Sucks throughout this and Tony is still great on commentary being annoyed at Jericho.
