[1990-02-10-USWA-Championship Sports] Chris Adams Training Video commercial
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
Enjoyed how one of the selling points was increasing your income and we heard about physical appearance while showing a clip of pudgy bill dundee in pink tights. Not bad to get both this and the calendar for around $50.- 13 replies

[1990-02-10-NWA-World Championship Wrestling] Interview: Four Horsemen

Agree with Loss that whats done has been done so you have to clean the slate. Flair does give a great invigorated promo. -
[1990-02-10-NWA-Worldwide] Midnight Express vs Rock & Roll Express
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
Aw the Cobb County Civic Center. Nostalgia is already flaring up. Fun introductory match to this portion of their feud and Bobby Eaton has looked amazing so far in 1990. -
[1990-02-10-NJPW vs AJPW] Big Van Vader vs Stan Hansen
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
I swear every time they show that first closeup of Vader's eye it makes me cringe and rub my eye instinctively. Really lively match from two bulls. The short little elbows and shots early on were especially vicious. I have never seen the rematch before so I eagerly look forward to that match on the set. This match ended a run of 4 real good matches on this dome show.- 24 replies

Oh man I loved this. Tenryu/Choshu have some of their best interactions against each other up tot his point and both Tiger and Takano did a good job of filling time and being the underneath wrestlers. Everybody was flying and bumping all over the place. Great heated match.

In todays update: --Coveh Solaimani is looking for a Ric Flair ring worn robe and is willing to pay $15,000 for the right robe. He can be reached at [email protected] or at 804-316-8177 Does Ric himself not have any robes he could give up. 15k for him seems like a nice pay day.

thats a different show? I just assumed the portion with Dave/Dylan was the same as on talk shoe... If that is the case I may have to resub to Observer this month for that, HOF issue, and Dave/Dylan debating on the Board.
-
2 episodes in one week????.... awesome guys I just finished the HOF show and enjoyed the discussion. I think a Patera type analysis for someone like Tanahashi would be interesting to see if their is real sustained evidence of attendances being up with him on top.

Lawler is flabbergasted at the idea of Dundee having a wrestling school and Dundee gives a promo towards Rockin Randy who I have no idea who that is.

[1990-02-10-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Robert Fuller & Brian Lee

Stark contrast to the last Fuller segment but he delivers a great fired up promo mixing in some comedy with seriousness.- 12 replies

[1990-02-10-WWF-Superstars] Brother Love: Rick Martel
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
I definitely see Martel's wrestling ability getting wasted by this gimmick but I do have a soft spot for his model character as he was one of my least favorites growing up and it was great to see the debut of Arrogance. I again love Vince inserting his little comments in the pauses of the interview.- 13 replies

[1990-02-10-WWF-Superstars] Wrestlemania VI Report w/Gene Okerlund
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
Agreed that it seems ridiculous that they drew out which title it would be for, but nonetheless the main event for WM is set. -
Interesting match that was also a lot of fun. The only thing I have ever really heard hyped up from the 2/10/90 show was the Vader/Hansen match but two matches in and having watched the Hansen/Vader match recently and knowing I liked it a good deal, I am willing to say this may actually be one of the most consistent dome shows ran. This match had a "greatest hits" atmoshphere to it but I loved the crowd really reacting to Jumbo and Kido getting him in the armbar was an insane reaction. Very fun match.

[1990-02-06-NWA-Clash of the Champions X] Steve Williams entrance

That makes sense I guess. Why did Dr. Death never utilize the heart punch is one of the great what ifs in wrestling history in my mind.- 15 replies

The Wrestlemania 29 Early Spring NY Weather Disaster Prediction Thread
soup23 replied to Bix's topic in Pro Wrestling
2) Not sure what the ticket prices are for each section here but for WM 27, we would have been in the the equivalent of about Section 125, halfway up and that was a good view of the ring and the tickets with fees and all were around $100. I would say anything in the 300 section will pretty much have you staring at the titantron. -
[1990-02-10-NJPW vs AJPW] Larry Zbyszko vs Masa Saito
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
Fun match with both guys really knowing how to rile up the crowd and get them invested. Zbysko's timing of the low blow was magically done and Saito getting the crowd behind him was really fun. I have not seen the Saito AWA stuff yet but of what I have seen of him this was my favorite match of his.- 24 replies

A very solemn JR tells us about Sting's injury. I was hoping for some grainy video footage but it was not meant to be.

[1990-02-09-NWA-Power Hour] Funk's Grill: Jim Cornette

Sad to see Funk go as I enjoyed his segments. The switchover for Cornette was very effective and funny.- 13 replies

[1990-02-10-USWA-Championship Sports] Kerry Von Erich and Gorky Park
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
Never heard of Gorky Park but more kerry off the rails cant be a bad thing. Kerry talks about how in favor he is of peace, anti drugs, and family. Gorky is ready to kick tail in the USA. Gorky at least looked energetic and not totally annoyed to be there.- 14 replies

[1990-02-09-UWF-with '90 2nd] Akira Maeda vs Yoshiaki Fujiwara
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
Really mat based match but everything was applied tightly and Fujiwara added in a lot of nice touches. Finish was really brutal with Fuji locking in the ankle lock but him being too attached to the hold and that being is downfall as he gets choked out from Maeda. This seems like a match that has more of a lasting positive effect than an emotional roller coaster while the match is taking place.- 14 replies

A lot of stuff going on here. Buzz bumps like a madmen and Muta gets a tremendous face reaction. The crowd does hate the Horseman and frantically chant for sting. We get the schmozz at the end and Sting is legit injured. I got two questions out of all of this. 1. What was Stings actual injury and how did he hurt it? I couldn't see definitively. 2. What were the original plans for this angle? Was Sting going to be the champ at Wrestlewar.

[1990-02-06-NWA-Clash of the Champions X] Least Shocking Unmasking Ever
soup23 replied to Loss's topic in February 1990
Action looked pretty fun and I might need to check out the match in full sometime. Unmasking was predictably anticlimactic and is probably why it was thrown away in the middle of a clash show.
