http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/wwf-meadowlands-101484/ The WWF presents another rather horrible series of matches with Brutus Beefcake, Mr. Fuji, Big John Studd, David Sammartino and Moondog Spot all taking part in dreadfully dull singles matches. The tag team scene carries the day as Andre the Giant teams with Sgt Slaughter to clash with the foreign fanatics consisting of the Iron Sheik and Nikolai Volkoff. The WWF tag champs Adonis and Murdoch put on a show to carry Afa and Sika to a fun outing and the Brisco Brothers make a rare WWF appearance in a squash match.

I only read obits myself, but I don't really care about the modern product, so most of his info is superfluous

Guys who made better action figures than wrestlers

Simmons could bust out the flying shoulder blocks/clotheslines. His mold never stopped me from giving him a push. The Hasbro Rick Rude actually came with a similar form. I broke his arm off trying to give the Ultimate Warrior a Rude Awakening. -
After Dave talked about the Ali/Liston gun angle, I had to find it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKLWAZhTFsQ It's pretty funny to see Ali being the obnoxious heel here. I have to assume the gun part was a staged stunt -cameras filming and all....

http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/mlg-92384/ Toronto fans are offered up a rather pitiful card, full of bad refereeing, poor announcing, lousy matches, and botches...all sort of saved by a double main event of Andre the Giant facing Kamala and Sgt. Slaughter brawling with the Iron Sheik....this was a rough one to get through....

I'd wager that Verne wanted to break the deal they had worked out and Hansen wanted to keep Baba happy, so rather than paint Verne in a poor light 30 years later, Hansen took the high road.

I found the rare-ish Carlos Colon Remco figure today at a rummage sale for 2 bucks. I am impressed the figure came with gig marks in the forehead. -

BruiserBrody replied to Bix's topic in Megathread archive

You can argue it was the most ambitious effort ever tried though. Bundy is really good in these.
