Wrestling's most shameless, most glorious exaggerations
BruiserBrody replied to MoS's topic in Pro Wrestling
Garvin also KO'd Andre with his Hands of Stone punch. -
http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/souledout97/ Looking back at one of the worst PPVs of all time.... Crooked refs, bad announcing, large women dancing, nWo B-team guys in half the matches, a dead crowd, Hogan vs The Giant part 25, X-Pac errrrrr Syxx in the best match, Oh the humanity! --- Watching this week in RAW/Nitro from 97. Raw crowd is dead early on and this is the night after Mania. Steve Austin turning face seems a bit odd as he hit his stride over the past 5 months or so as a no nonsense shit talking heel and had lots of hay to make off that yet. I realize I'm saying this about the biggest drawing babyface in wrestling history. Nitro was headlined by Prince Iaukea vs Macho Man. I'm sure they killed RAW anyway.

[1997-03-10-WWF-Raw] Ken Shamrock, Steve Austin and Bret Hart
BruiserBrody replied to Loss's topic in March 1997
In my head in 1997, this was a huge deal. If Connor McGregor got wrapped up with the Mania build it may give me similar tickles down the leg -

http://culturecrossfire.com/wrestling/greg-gagne-shoot/#.Vqtq0fkrLIU One of my favorite shoots to date sees Greg Gagne tell the story of the AWA, he and his father's careers, plus a great deal of exaggerated and outright made up stories about Hulk Hogan becoming part owner of the AWA, how Gagne invented the nWo, his workrate outshining the NWA stars', how Verne nearly invented the UFC, his downfall as a WCW agent, his time spent working in the WWE, sexually harassing divas, slight burials of Nick Bockwinkel and Ricky Steamboat and much much more! A must read IMO!!

The WON says Malenko got a stiff shot to the spine around the five minute mark and worked the last 8 mins not being able to feel his legs. Ironically, the injury was around the same time that the match took off to the next level.

I wish they hadn't done the exact same match the night before on Nitro. The chair shot that finished things was pretty weak too. At least they brought Jackie in to add a new twist to the angle the following Monday.

Piper Goes Into Business For Himself, Havoc 1996
BruiserBrody replied to The Following Contest's topic in Pro Wrestling
Wrestlingdata had no evidence of it happening, plus TA was still a jabroni so I doubt the paranoid Piper would make a call like that. -

Piper Goes Into Business For Himself, Havoc 1996
BruiserBrody replied to The Following Contest's topic in Pro Wrestling
That's why I had to laugh when Magnum TA went on JR's podcast after Piper died and told a story about Roddy doing a one shot in Florida or something and was suppose to beat TA, but called an audible and had TA beat him clean instead. -
[1996-11-24-WCW-World War III] 60-man battle royal
BruiserBrody replied to Loss's topic in November 1996
Ditto the above comment. The first 22 mins or so of the match is hard to watch as the camera work ignores the first part of the bout as the Dungeon and Horsemen brawl. Then we get an annoying 3 screens that make things hard to see and focus with. No real notable spots after that until we get to the finish. I read somewhere Scott Steiner was announced in the match, never showed and then the announcers pretended he got tossed. Is that true?- 12 replies
