  1. Don"t feed the troll. He's not even good at it nor consistent with his own gimmick. At least shodate was mildly entertaining for a while.
  2. AEW's got its own subfolder on PWO ! Shit's really on.
  3. So it seems MLW is doing the most to grab my interest, as this week was about as good a show MLW can put out. The vignette with Salina in full bruja mode summoning la Bestia 666 was exactly what I needed. Hammerstone looked the best he ever did against DBS in a good hoss match. Smith's sister doing the interview backstage was out of nowhere and came off odd, especially since you could see she was trying really hard not to bust out laughing at Dynasty's promo. The main event was kind of a mess, in the coolest way possible. The ref had no idea how to work with these guys either (for the double pin spot which is classic lucha, Wagner Jr. had to literally stop him from counting the first guy down). That assisted Code Red on the opponent by the Parks was one hell of a cool move. Still in awe of LA Park's explosiveness on those plancha and the DDT bump. They should really get a whole lot more reaction shots from Salina though, here's she ringside with that awesome La Catrina (pun intended) style outfit and you barely shoot her ? That's a miss. Still, if every MLW Fusion episode was like this one, I would look forward to it very much each week.
  4. One hour show a week : WWF Superstars. And Saturday Nights Main Event every other time, I don't remember how regular it was. (I do remember however than Canal + was programming its monthly porn (Canal was an encrypted channel you had to subscribe to) just after, at midnight, so when I started to watch pro-wrestling as a young teenager I had to tape that show as it was too late to watch it live and I was always hoping the tape would roll a little late and I could catch a little bit of porn that I could watch in hiding...) First PPV showed was Survivor Series 90, so from that point on we got the big 4, until 1995 when we got the big 5.
  5. Back on topic, this week's BTE had some good shit (pun intended). I can see they are trying to make the Dark Order more serious with straight promos from the two guys and a better looking mask. Rick Knox, referee IRL is quite a funny gag. If nothing else, Micheal Nakazawa made sure everyone knows he's an undercard act, basically, so people not finding him funny can be reassured he won't be a focus.
  6. He kinda looks like a dwarf on that pic. I dunno, the giant belt maybe...
  7. And by ricochet (see what I just did), it won't help Becky, because after the last mixed-tag angle, she's seen as Seth's partner. So that makes her uncool. Hell, much better be Maria Kanellis at this point.
  8. Cool. More panic attack in the weeks to come and more likely even more brillant "reboot" ideas. That company is broken. It's the blessing of all blessing they got the Fox deal thanks to Rousey and the Saudi deal thanks to a criminal leader of state who wants PR, because if they had to make their money out of the reality of how their product is perceived, they would be in huge trouble.
  9. Yeah, because you know it has to become a meme on social media now. A few weeks after he very stupidly attacked Will Ospreay... (edit : and now Mox, apparently) Karma is a bitch. This also shows you how far it'll take you to play good little drone soldier on social media. Yeah, no, fuck him.
  10. I've just catched up on the G1. Ishii vs Mox and Okada vs Ospreay were out of this world great. Ibushi vs Ospreay was also amazing. Still not sold on KENTA, the Archer match was complete cruising to me, while he was really good against EVIL. Really cool booking thus far, the best part being Jay White being bitched out by the CHAOS crew. He's been terrific, too. Also, Taichi needs a lot more love, the guy is actually really good (and much more fun than, say, EVIL or Goto).
  11. Best in the world, right there... If a picture says a thousand words, that's it.
  12. What a killjoy you make.
  13. What did we say about "Smells like 90's Spirit" again ? It will without a doubt get super ratings. And make their current roster look like not-over jabronies. Clap clap clap.
  14. This is where we need some smart quotes from Bourdieu and Adorno about the society of entertainment and the Kulturindustrie, but I'm way too lazy to do it now. Just a way to point out that this is a pretty great post. Warhol and the whole pop-art stuff could be pretty criticized though, and honestly by the time Warhol pimped Mania 1, he was pretty much an irrelevant socialite. Kinda like the old, former cool guy who know says embarrassing stuff and exposes himself as a goof. The glory days of the Factory days were long gone I believe. Anyway, I'm probably overthinking this. Funny though, from someone who posted "Pro-wrestling isn't an art form." in this very thread two years ago, I was thinking while I was in awe of Ishii's brillance during his match with Mox that, if anything else, pro-wrestling as an amazing production of signs. And thought I should really dive into Saussure at some point. Yeah. It's not even that I mean to go all intellectual and shit, it's more that I'm probably a bit fucked up in the head. But anyway, pro-wrestling isn't an art-form, but maybe it is. It certainly is unique, whatever it is, you can't really compare it to anything else, really.
  15. Wow. Especially considering what JR had to say about it on his podcast. Maybe that's how Conrad is gonna do, counter-program his own podcasts. Anyway, I've been done with Brucie's show a while ago and stuff like this totally makes me not regret my decision.
  16. But nooooo, you know Dave is full of shit, as Uncle Eric will probably tell it on his podcast. BTW, is anyone still following that one since he made the jump ?
  17. That is all well and good... But no. I'd rather have Tony work the occasional AEW match and be a production adviser for them.
  18. WWE will never hire Tony to put him on commentary, come one now...
  19. "Creative has nothing for you now. We see you as a B+ player, at best. YOU have to grab that brass ring." Yep. About Tony, who would be the Tony guys right now in WWE ? Jarrett getting hired was shocking, but then again a bunch of the old TNA office was hired just before. Tony, I have no idea. Plus Arn and Dean are gone...
  20. The more I read about court Bauer (this, Callihan supposedly "destroying" stuff in a match but that was edited out, the twitter post David Starr made about his shitty contracts), the more he comes off like a carny douchebag.
  21. This is such a dated opinion, honestly. I have seen Dionne (which I guess is Evil Uno) exactly *once*, wearing a shitty mask, and he struck me as very charismatic. As far as Angelico & Evans, the fluo attire look cool and totally fit their style, and as far as "they only know how to flip", well, Corny lowering himself to "lol movez" level of understanding the workers is pretty sad. That actually shows how far off he is, because Fight for the Fallen was pretty much received as the lesser of the three shows, and although I loved Omega & CIMA and think it was a great match, the show overall was nowhere close to Double or Nothing or even Fyter Fest, which did not had any "great" matches but the average level was higher and more consistent than this one. The Road to All Out ep1 was tremendous. The way they have built the characters and issues for the big matches with these very short Youtube shows is very encouraging when you think about their futur TV product, because it's obvious this is the direction they are going (BTE being its own thing).
  22. Pipe Bomb 2 anyone ? I know Punk is not the most popular guy on this board (or anywhere, really, but then again, who cares), but you gotta admit that who light a fire under AEW's ass for buzz only.
  23. That would be Flying Wolf or Aero Wolf or whatever the fuck his name his. Terrible 5th rate luchador cosplayer with zero basics and zilch charisma and a shitty looking mask. Corny calling this guy's match while trashing AEW's undercard guy is quite the irony. This show could be 30 mn now. This week's show had the best MLW match in forever (certainly of the year) with Dynasty vs Hart Foundation in a ladder match. Cool spectacle with tons of great spots. Although, the idea that MJF is so afraid of heights that he can barely take one step is beyond ridiculous and silly, so again Corny, whatever you say about shitty comedy spots on AEW shows. Of course MJF is still great, and that led to some work by Aria Blake, which is cool. Richard Holliday is definitely growing on me. The Salina angle was interesting, especially the part where she watches her guy get attacked on via her smartphone, cool use of current technology. I must say though, the dynamic of a disgusting redneck chasing a 22 years old hot mexican girl to "punish" her is kinda.... rapy ? I mean, the way the angle ended (or did not ended on camera actually) could be very easily seen as quite uncomfortable. I hope the resolution next week is not gonna be as bad taste as the Contra shit with Lawlor...
  24. Nothing screams "stuck in the 90's" more than Shawn Micheals doing color commentary, something he always sucked at, BTW.
