The fact people are trying to find actual reasons to justify that it just COULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED DAMNIT, NOT TO BRAUN, NOT WITH KAREN FUCKING JARRETT !!! is making this funnier and funnier each day. What's so hard to understand ? Like Matt said, tons of much crazier shit happens regularly in pro-wrestling. What Alberto and Paige are doing these days ?

Ku Klux Klan I vs Ku Klux Klan II. WHO THE FUCK DO YOU CHEER FOR ??!!!
-
Because Braun being rude (apparently, extremely so) to a woman asking an autograph for her son is a big deal to begin with in term of image. And it makes Braun seem like a complete jerk too (seriously, who does he think he is ?). Braun basically being rude to the son of Kurt Angle (who cares about how long him and Karen are divorced ?), well… if you are drunken Braun, yeah, you should freak the fuck out a bit (hell, if only if you consider Angle being kind of a crazy mofo with myriads of public problems… but really because he's Angle, he's back, he's an HOF and a legend respected by everyone etc…) People just don't want to picture Braun begging Karen like a bitch after he acted like an asshole to a mother asking for an autograph. People are funny like that. Still real to them etc… (bis repetita)

For fuck's sake. Keep that stuff private, will you ?

EP 22 Not sure I'm a fan of the whole Cueto Cup. A giant tournament is not the most exciting idea in the LU context. Aerostar vs Drago was on the sloppy side too. Mack vs that Alice in Wonderland guy was fun though. On the other hand, that Mysterio vs Mundo hype video with some British sounding narrator was excellent. And I guess Cage is officially the Gregor Clegane of Lucha Underground now.

You just gave me an idea for that paper I have to write, which actually deals with stereotypes and stuff. Couldn't find the right way to begin, been searching for hours. "Everyone is a stereotype" will do quite well. Thanks for the help (even if it wasn't intended).

What Happened When with Tony Schiavone
El-P replied to flyonthewall2983's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Some people just aren't good at that. I totally understand. It used to piss me off (I'm always the one who picks up the phone and calls, or send e-mails/messages), but not that much anymore. I found this episode quite fascinating again and Tony very fair as usual. Gotta love the "Fingers" nickname Heenan gave to Tenay's wife. -
What's actually ridiculous is a bunch of people having *zero* knowledge of what actually happened claiming "Oh, it surely didn't happen that way" because evilMeltz™ reported a favourite of them got verbally bitchslapped by a woman (Karen Jarrett of all people) after he acted like a rude mofo with an attitude. I guess it's still real to you, damnit. But you know, it's not that hard to picture a green ass rookie in the business (which is what Braun is, essentially) shitting himself after realizing he just cussed out Kurt Angle's ex-wife, when Kurt Angle's back in the company and seen as a legend by everyone, including management. I guess you never witnessed a petite woman (yeah, Karen ain't petite, but whatever) put some big fucker in their right place before. I tend to mark out for these kind of stories, admitedly.

Tonight during a Carl Craig set. He mixed Also Sprach Zarathustra in the middle of old-school Detroit techno. So yeah, I couldn't help it. I woooed.

I dunno (well, WCCW I don't care much for anyway, but the point stands). Pro-wrestling is also an atmosphere as a whole to me. It's part of the deal. It's part of the memories too.

And this is why old bootlegged TV stuff >>> Network cleaned up stuff. (who wants to watch Hollywood Hogan coming out to some generic bullshit theme or ECW without all the music that was part of the fun and identity ? or, for old fuckers, Kerry von Erich without Tom Sawyer and Fantastics without Sharp Dressed Man ?)

I never sell shit in real life. Well, I had an ankle sprain one time, I did the Raven laugh-sell when it happened and I was sitting down in the street, then I did sell it for days to come.
-
This is more entertaining that whatever crap those 25 "writers" come up with every week. If Karen bitchslaps Abyss next week on iMPACT, I'll watch.
-
What would have Bill Watts done ? (seriously, no idea if there's any truth to it, but the visual of Braun on his knees begging Karen Angle while she's cutting a terrific babyface promo is just too damn fantastic)
-
They should book meta and have Braun squash Jason Jordan now.
-
This is absolutely glorious.

I'll definitely pass. On the bullshit department, Mike Graham was pretty fucking high too. He got the idea for the nWo and he's the one responsible for getting Hogan in WCW, you know.
-
Quite smart ! Yeah, Manny looks like those old-school dipshits. No, everything wasn't better in the "good ol' days".
-
My digital recorder didn't record the show last night. Not sure what the issue was. Judging by this thread though, it seems to me that I won the fucking poney !

Not sure I would call it the best KOTM match, but it sure was a great one, redeeming the very disappointing mess of the previous year. It's also probably the very point where they should have pulled the trigger on Samoa Joe before it was too late. Angle didn't need the title (he's a guy who doesn't need a title to be at the top). He wasn't the worst choice (AJ Styles needed to be rebuilt as a top guy and Christian already was there for most of the year) but even Chris Harris would have been better as far as creating a new legit main event star. I'm not overly familiar with the chronology of the events to follow, but I do think this highlights the point where it was obvious TNA would not create any new star and would only trust WWE names at the top. It was Samoa Joe's to win there. The post-match was kinda idiotic since this whole feud was already done to death by this point, and Angle's attitude was confusing, as it has never been clear if this guy should be considered a heel or a babyface. This match is also one of Christian's best performance.

Jeff Jarrett talking about his wife at Slammiversary 2007 was pretty rough to watch. It's crazy she was first diagnosed with cancer in 1996, then it came back in 2004. Can't imagine what Jarrett went through during all those years while trying to get TNA off the ground. Put things in perspective too.

I know it's the Network era, but these PPV's every two weeks don't mean anything anymore. The product is oversaturated as hell already. Orton vs Mahal AGAIN. I sure hope for them they crack that great Indian market... Wait, Cena vs Rusev ? Where did that come from ? What kind of redux is it ? It'll only show how low Rusev had dropped from the totem pole since that Mania tank introduction with the (then) glorious Lana. No interest in Nak facing Corbin at all. No real interest in AJ vs Owens although it'll probably be Owens best WWE match ever if AJ works at his usual level. Multi-women match again. Yeah, that's totally making them look important... Zayn vs Kanellis, I have no idea, I only saw Bennett in New Japan teaming with the other guy. I guess it's their version of Skip vs Barry Horowitz at this point (yeah, it's not that bad in term of push, but Zayn still is basically a JTTS right now) Usos vs New Day will probably be quite good. So yeah, looks like nothing on paper but could end up with a number of actually good fun matches (Cena vs Rusev / AJ vs Owens / Usos vs New Day / multi-women), but it's still a nothing happening product in term of characters.

Hogan *as part of the nWo*. And the nWo was all over the TV. The angle was the hottest ever. In a company that was hot and fresh top to bottom (mostly). Brock showing up every three months for a 10 minutes suplex wankery with Heyman showing up from time to time with no issue to talk about (remember the endless "My client retired the Undertaker" boring shit after that Mania ?) in a cold product isn't exactly comparable.

Crappy matches to boot. Lesnar can go for all I care. Maybe the top of the card won't be so much focused on "dream" matches and a champ that's never on TV.
