  1. Looking forward to TV. Gotta love JYD learning from experience in those special ref matches.
  2. I will say that I've decided to check out a lot more Sgt. Slaughter after hearing him praised so much here.
  3. Just like the Backlund one, I held off on listening to this one for awhile because I wasn't that interested in the subject and yet again I was blown away. Love this podcast.
  4. I got excited about Jerry Brown because of the Hollywood Blondes with Buddy Roberts, but then I realized how old he was.
  5. Should have been in Greenville Monday night, Gordy-Darsow almost went 18.

  7. What if the 7-7 bombings don't happen in England or if they happen, but WWE doesn't air the Hussan-Undertaker angle? What if AOL and Time Warner don't merge?
  8. This was great. I listen to these marathon shows on marathon late night walks and I felt completely immersed in the time period. I love the format of news item, in-depth background on figures in the news item, repeat. I'll request September 8-September 14 1985 because that's my birthday week (30 years!), but no worries if that's not what you have planned.

  10. Gotta love the comments for the Link/Thundercloud classic. Really enjoying this, even more than your TEW booking. Your writing style with the announcer quotes really adds to the legitimate feel of '83 WWF.
  11. Butcher and Sheik for 12/25 in JCP please.
  12. Aww, I was hoping we'd see Ivan Putski intermingling with your authentic Southeastern roster.
  13. MACW continues to be the place to be for fake Native American gimmicks as we draft Chief Jay Strongbow. KrisZ is up.
  14. I'll give Flyin' Brian until the end of the day before I skip him.
  15. Agreed with all of the above. Stop and start storylines/lack of long-term planning. - Makes it meaningless to commit to watching. Also, because of so many PPV's and TV to fill, storylines are fill of filler. 3-Hour Raws - I'm never going to rematch any raw from the past 3 years on the Network because every 3-Hour Raw is full of dead spots and is a chore, no matter how good one match or the main event angle may be. Raw/PPV Arena Setup - The product has never looked so homogenized. Remember when PPV's each had their own theme or style? Cool things set up in the entrance way? WCW was especially good at this. Lack of evolving - Raw 5 years ago would be remarkably similar to Raw today if you rewatch. Kofi Kingston, Wade Barrett, Dolph Ziggler, etc have all been in WWE without leaving for longer than guys like Big Bossman, Jake Roberts, Rick Rude, etc... and yet they don't come off as major players IMO. The announcing, camera angles, guys on top rarely change. Can't choose another 5 year period in WWE history (post-National Expansion) where there was such little change in everything. Announcers - Suck and I'll never take Michael Cole seriously. HHH/Steph as characters - There's never an extended period where they get their comeuppance or "show ass". Vince used to lose battles all the time on Raw. HHH and Steph rarely do and if they do they usually don't completely lose or at least get their heat back for the next 3-4 weeks afterwards. They also talk down to other performers on the show more than Vince ever did without retribution. Steph's den mother act with the divas makes them look lame. Seth Rollins (or any champ) should continually have their balls cut off by the authority, no matter what their "character" is suppose to be.
  16. Was a close call between picking Hayes/Gordy or Jake Roberts with my first pick in the main draft and although I'd still go with the 2 for 1, seeing how you use Jake is causing some constant second guessing. Looking forward to seeing where Adonis will fit in with what's going on so far. I'd definitely watch this show if a DVD set of the 1983 season was being traded today.
  17. Thanks, LowBlow put the pieces in place, but I think business is about to pick up.
  18. Tuesday August 2nd 1983 MACW Live from Township Auditorium in Columbia, South Carolina Joe Lightfoot & Billy Two Eagles defeated Doug Vines & Tony Zane in 8:45 when Billy Two Eagles hit Tony Zane with a top rope missile dropkick. Michael Hayes defeated Bob Bradley in 9:10 with a DDT. Tonga Kid defeated NWA World Tag Team Champion Chris Markoff by DQ in 9:20 when Barry Darsow pushed Tonga Kid off the top rope as he attempted a flying crossbody press. Markoff did not acknowledge Darsow at all. Hector Guerrero & Terry Taylor defeated Mad Dog & Butcher Vachon by DQ in 8:44 when Butcher Vachon threw Hector Guerrero over the top rope. NWA TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP Terry Gordy © defeated Scott Casey in 8:02 with a powerbomb. NWA UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP Dr. D Dave Schultz © defeated Barry Darsow in 10:55 with a piledriver. MAIN EVENT Ric Flair defeated Nikolai Volkoff in 12:02 after reversing an inside cradle.
  19. No Lord Littlebrook?
  20. He knows about the draft, but hasn't had a chance to be on lately. Up to you guys if you want to wait or skip
  21. Monday August 1st 1983 MACW Live from Memorial Auditorium in Greenville, South Carolina Brad Rheingans defeated Doug Vines in 8:45 with a bridging cradle suplex. Mad Dog & Butcher Vachon defeated Joe Lightfoot & Billy Two Eagles in 13:44 when Mad Dog Vachon pinned Joe Lightfoot with a piledriver. Scott Casey defeated Tonga Kid by DQ in 8:04 when Tonga Kid finally retaliated to Scott Casey's blatant cheating with a throw over the top rope, which was unfortunately caught by the referee. One of Scott Casey's first matches in the Mid-Atlantic area, he was showing much more of an edge than in the past. Michael Hayes defeated NWA World Tag Team Champion Chris Markoff in 10:54 with a DDT. NWA TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP Terry Gordy © defeated Barry Darsow by count-out in 17:32 when Darsow rolled out of the ring and never returned following a Gordy powerbomb. NWA UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP Dr. D Dave Schultz © defeated NWA World Tag Team Champion Nikolai Volkoff in 7:54 with a diving forearm smash. MAIN EVENT Ric Flair defeated The Iron Sheik in 15:51 with an inside cradle off an attempted Sheik scoop slam.
  22. Moondogs in 1983 at this point should be Rex and Spot.
  23. What a team. Would have loved to see evil David in 83.
