Lol, for sure. Absolutely. I'll be fine as long as they do at least 1 match every week, but you are definitely correct.
-
Come on, have to remember when they were doing dumps of 20 it would be a mix of actual "hidden" gems and before they were stars TV matches. We get someone new each week, some of them will be not as exciting. For context, the new gem this week is Leviathan (Batista) vs. Kane from OVW Christmas Chaos 2001.

I'm probably wrong, but I also think it might have to do with Punk.
-
Considering the ratings have fallen each year, I wonder what happens when this continues for Fox and NBC? I'd have to think by year 3, they've come to terms with the fact they overpaid for a dwindling property.
-
I think last week they were revealed on Monday, but today being a holiday probably threw that off. The random dumpings in the past have always been revealed beforehand so fingers crossed we get a new list tomorrow or Wednesday. I don't know if they'll be dropping 20 a week though. That seems fairly extravagant.

Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard
Beast replied to Lust Hogan's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Not if people start to believe entertainment over the facts just because it's more entertaining. -
There is a Luger CWF debut on YouTube from September 1985 on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJ5nGlje9gs

Looks like the Legends Battle Royal is from a show that wasn't a taped live event so maybe this is the first time its been seen? Also is the first time the RVD/Jericho match is being released? I know it wasn't on the Big Apple Extreme Blast VHS at the time.

According to reports they have tried to spike their subscription numbers quite a lot offering similar deals. I never get why people unsubscribe I then sure if you hate modern day WWE they always have a ton of classic footage worth watching. Because you can find all of the footage for free elsewhere.

They must have 100-200 shirts by now, right? Seems like any "bit" get a shirt. Each week's show must inspire 3-5 new ones. -
I'm hosting a weekly podcast with Jerry Jarrett - help me out!

Why Bruce Prichard is full of it. -
Surprisingly good, I wasn't paying close attention for the first few minutes, but then I got drawn into it. Melina and Mickie did a great job using unique moves and submissions and better yet, didn't botch anything to the extent that the "renowned" women wrestlers do today. This may be a diamond in the rough, but based on this match I'd want to take a look at more women's matches from this period.

[2007-04-29-WWE-Backlash] Matt & Jeff Hardy vs Lance Cade & Trevor Murdoch
Beast replied to Kadaveri's topic in April 2007
Underwhelming from what I remember at the time. Cade & Murdoch look so green here, even the spots described above look off. Jeff is a boring FIP and Cade & Murdoch don't do much to keep things exciting. Very little chemistry and there's no real tale being told.- 2 replies

1000% that Anyone pretending Dave said something offensive there is playacting. The Twitter reactions are so weird.....How in any way can that be interpreted as something other than "segregation is bad, and holding another segregated show for the minority group won't cancel out that segregation is bad"? People are actually saying that it's racist?
-
I guess these complainers follow Dave in order to achieve a feeling of self-satisfaction each time something like this happens. John Lister made the comparison of if Pele died and reports were exaggerating how many World Cup Champion teams he played for. Not only was Dave a personal friend of Bruno, but he's generally regarded as a top source of wrestling info (including by the "mainstream media"). He sent out a bunch of tribute tweets, retweeted and favorited others, and threw in a correction to a misstated stat that was popping up. It was in no way inappropriate, untimely, or in poor taste. Look at the context and consider there's literally a 0% chance Dave was sitting behind his computer, pushing his glasses up and chortling as he got excited to correct the record. We live in a time where many see facts as less important than feelings. Bruno MSG sellouts or Andre's height being clarified should not cause so much frustration and name calling.

[2018-04-08-WWE-Wrestlemania XXXIV] Brock Lesnar vs Roman Reigns
Beast replied to cactus's topic in April 2018
15-minute match made up of F5's, suplexes, spears, and Superman punches. If they don't put a wrestler out after 1, let alone 2 attempts, maybe it's time to come up with a better finisher. Same deal with Owens & Zayn hitting everything on Shane in a handicap situation and unable to put him away. Are they terrible? Or is Shane superhuman because of his dad's incredible genes? -
[1990-03-10-WWF-Superstars] Hulk Hogan and Ultimate Warrior promos
Beast replied to Loss's topic in March 1990
Warrior's promo lends itself to the fantasy booking of "What if the Ultimate Warrior went into WMVI as a full-fledged monster heel looking to destroy Hulkamania?" In the annals of WWF/E history, Warrior could have been the Hogan monster that actually defeated Hulkamania, held the title as the first long-term heel champ since Billy Graham and dropped it back a WMVII, turning back face in the process.- 12 replies

Possibly, but it is also almost exactly halfway through the full run (146 episodes)

Don't understand why that would even come up on a wrestling board. Go play around in "The Military Industrial Suplex" part of the board if you want to write a treatise on why Doug Williams is your favorite wrestler.

I've been curious, why are all your posts formatted that way, lowercase and weird spacing?
-
Usos are strong now, but in general are quantity over quality. Who would even guess they've been the longest-running tag team in WWF/E history? Their run has been mostly unmemorable prior to their recent heel turn. Even then, I'd never place their series with the New Day at the top of a match/feud list because the matches don't mean anything and feel like they've been going on forever. They are very good matches though, I agree. I have a feeling the Usos are going to be the Cena of the PTBN Tag list where they'll finish top 20, maybe even top 10 or 5 and people will complain that they're under-ranked.

Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard
Beast replied to Lust Hogan's topic in Publications and Podcasts
Problem with the "two faces at WM" argument is it doesn't explain why Booker couldn't have beaten HHH at a future PPV. Instead, HHH won the feud and didn't get any comeuppance for being racist. And if the feud had to end at WM, don't book something where the heel gets everything over on the face leading up to the big match and then still goes over. Also of note is that from 2004 to 2007, both title matches at Wrestlemania each year were won by faces. -
Raw sucks. It sucks. What are people praising about it? Good matches in a vacuum? Inconsistent and repetitive storylines? Ever since going to 3-hours it's been a chore. And it looks like the majority of voters agreed. Seriously, it's not like 2004 or 2007 where there were a bunch of scattered gems over 3-4 month periods. If you want to argue it's not the worst wrestling show I have no issue with that. But in no way, shape or form is it in contention for best show. And since the voting covers a year, it doesn't even matter if you think it's better than Smackdown at the moment. Smackdown started off pretty hot last year (continuing from 2016's brand split) before falling off a cliff near the end.

Whoa, that's rough for a casual fan. This year's class feels very weird and the Kid Rock addition doesn't help.
