Interesting the only match #1 and #2 had against each other was in WCW, not WWF/E

Actually looks amazing. The dark matches are good for randomness, but rarely are better than decent. Also no commentary. Mixing it up with random TV matches looks great.

If this was the '80s, he would be in the Bret Hart or Shawn Michaels tag guy who eventually goes single star role and everything before he teamed with Sheamus wouldn't have happened. Actually, he'd probably be a Nikita Koloff type guy and it's unbelievable he's never had a run on top in the past 5-6 years he's been on the main roster.
-
I thought Overrated means "over pushed" in the WON Awards. So Sheamus would be a poor choice, while Reigns would (depending on the voter) be a good one.
-
I wonder if this is all they have from that era, or if they actually chose a bunch of random episodes mostly featuring familiar names like Hogan, Piper, & Andre.

I know the argument will just go round and round so I'll stop, but to me it almost seemed like a high school play. It was very much a "performance" or exhibition and it didn't seem like an actual competitive match. Not even saying the men's was better, but Michelle McCool finally interacting with Sasha Banks didn't do it for me. I just get so sick of the hyperbole thrown around. Nothing is allowed to be OK, everything is either the best or worst.

What was so great about the booking? I watched it. It was "surprise" appearances by every legend who appeared on Raw the week before and otherwise it was a normal Rumble.
-
Yes. What a world we live in where WWE's revisionist "Our women's division has always been a trendsetter in Sports Entertainment" bull is treated like gospel. Sorry, but the Molly Holly, Ivory, Jazz, Victoria 2003 era matches were a joke and the 2008 era Michelle McCool, Layla, Torrie Wilson, Kelly Kelly, Candace Michelle matches were as well. I'm not going to pretend that because that since the Rumble was a "history of the Diva's revolution", it makes up for sloppy work and super forced storytelling.
-
There were enough people on here even that preferred the men. Seems like some people bend over backward to praise the WWE women matches. Like the fricking women's Rumble was an all-time great match? The Women's Revolution thing has been force-fed and now it's like a shame if someone rates their matches as ** or *** rather than ****+

I think the HHH ranking is perfect. His accomplishments are many, but for some, he's immediate channel changing.

I agree with you. I also don’t fell that Punk belongs over them as well. Haven’t seen Owen Hart yet. I guess he made the final 24 as well. Interesting debate is does Owen deserve to be above the Bulldog? Both are kind of defined by their matches with Bret, but Davey has the British Bulldogs run too.

You're describing his booking, as he was booked to be in main event storylines leading up to WrestleMania each year. I believe the argument is he shouldn't have been booked to be in those spots in the first place. Each year there have been wrestlers the fans have organically gotten behind that have been pushed aside when WrestleMania season hits because Reigns HAS to be in a major match. I'll add that nothing he's done storyline-wise since 2015's Lesnar match has made me want to see them fight again. Let's not confuse a match that's been planned for over a year with one that has a well-thought-out story behind it. This is literally just, "We planned Roman-Brock 2 for this year so we're doing Roman-Brock 2". It's the tale of organic pushes versus forced pushes. It's amazing the Reigns saga has gone on for so many years already with the same thing happening over and over again. He's not going to magically be the "top dog" that people accept as the face of the company after he beats Brock and ends WrestleMania standing tall to a mixed reaction for the third year in a row.
-
I just don't understand how anyone can look at the WWE since that first match and feel the storytelling has been interesting/consistent enough to lead to a big WrestleMania rematch. Too many of you excuse months/years of crap anytime WWE has 2-3 weeks of quality TV.
-
WTF is even the story with Reigns-Brock 2? Brock didn't beat him in the first one, Rollins did. Reigns has won the title multiple times since, including in the main event of Wrestlemania!! This is a like a four year long deal now of Reigns being in the main event and people not giving a crap.

The hills some of you choose to die on astound me. Dave handled the Elgin story clumsily, but guess what? So did everyone else. The parties involved are all treating it like a black and white story and the truth is likely somewhere in between. And he's stayed away from it for the most part since. Dave compared the n-word to the word "mark" in the context of the wrestling business. A little tone-deaf, especially in 2018? Yep. Do I think Dave is racist? Nope, because I've read his writing and heard him talk wrestling for the past decade-plus so I know what he was trying to get at. Ridiculous.
-
The McMahon ranking is baffling. 97/98 vs. Austin is more than worthy, but I'd think a decade-plus of repetitive (though sometimes entertaining) evil authority bullcrap would cancel that out. Top 100, let alone top 50 WWF/E wrestler of all time? Nah. Bossman, Orndorff, & Rude are low, especially compared to MIZ~! and ROMAN~! Roman is the most unimpressive "great match wrestler" of all time. OF ALL TIME. His booking has made sure that I can never muster up any interest in his matches, even while acknowledging that yes, they are generally well wrestled.

Booker T hates Corey Graves now? Is this a real thing?
Beast replied to The Thread Killer's topic in WWE
But this is: Booker T - I hate Corey Graves "Marks" - OK Corey Graves - This is totally real guys "Marks" - OK, that's fine. Booker T & Corey Graves - Hahahaha, just kidding. "Marks" - Weird, OK -
I'll be taking a break too. I'm behind, but will get my match reviews up.

CapitalTTruth, you have WWE Network so I'm picking 1-2-3 Kid vs. Blake Beverly from the 7/5/93 Raw. It's surprisingly good for the time given and time period in WWE. Let me know if you've seen it and I'll pull something out. I'll catch up on my match from last week and this one soon.

Some of these high votes are absolutely ridiculous. I'd love for those voters' thoughts to have been included because having Hornswoggle at 35, R-Truth at 32, Hercules at 37, Carlito at 31, Lance Storm at 39, Al Snow at 20, Wade Barrett at 21, Dean Malenko at 26, or Barry Windham at 28 is virtually indefensible. Sorry to bring the negativity but how does Dean Malenko's 18-month run make him a top 30 WWF wrestler? Or Windham's tag with Rotundo, the Stalker, Blackjacks, and NWA champion? Al Snow is a top 20 WWF wrestler of all time? I can get stuffing your favorites in the bottom 30 or whatever, but I'm sorry, I'd love for some rationale behind these votes.

Great use of some of the guys not on this card. Loved the Jimmy Snuka cameo.

I agree that this should have led to a Tito-Perfect match at Summerslam due to all the visual pins Tito kept getting. Maybe either have this match as the IC Title final (with Heenan debuting as Perfect's manager in an earlier tournament match) or have Santana win that Superstars match, Perfect win this rematch for the belt (with Heenan debuting here), and then Perfect winning a 2/3 falls match at Summerslam (instead of Demolition/Harts) having that stipulation. I know Beefcake was involved until 7/4, but in my world Perfect would have gone over Beefcake in the semifinals while Santana beats Martel to set up the finals.

This isn't anything special, but is another example of a decent 80's/90's tag match that people would be freaking out over if The Revival aped spots from today. Not to totally knock them, but it's a shame we don't see as many of these types of matches anymore.

Hard to give Warrior guff for not drawing when he's going over his next challenger in the lead up to their big grudge match. It's really too bad when you consider the history of these two. Rude beats Warrior for the IC belt thanks to Heenan's interference. Warrior wins it back thanks to Piper. So we've never actually seen them have a fight with no one impacting the finish. Rude finishes with Piper and then goes away to regroup after Warrior moves up to the World belt. He comes back with those training videos and yeah they played for a LONG time, but he and Warrior should not have met up until the third match in the cage at Summerslam. This was a useless match with a terrible finish. Sure, Rude looked talented making Warrior look capable, but if I'm a fan I'm not paying to see Warrior beat a guy he beat by countout. Rude was out on the floor and Warrior was beating up Heenan. What am I looking forward to?
