  1. It's pretty clear now they never had any intention of turning Cena heel I'd imagine he'll return around Royal Rumble time
  2. so Matt Hardy and Shane Helms did a drunken "shoot" last night and one of them claimed to have had sex with either Linda or Stephanie (a vague "The Boss") or if I read it wrong Vince had sex with one of the divas Matt was dating
  3. man Lindsay looks like Michelle Pfeiffer in Married to the Mob in those pics a Jaundice, emaciated 2010 Michelle Pfeiffer mind you
  4. a quick search would put Petey as http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calum_Best or not. Lindsay has probably dated more than one international male supermodel edit: wrong I guess. It was probably this guy: http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/2009/12/..._adam_senn.html
  5. Starrcade 97 is probably the worst booked big PPV card in the history of the big 2. you have Savage inserted into the six man on the promise that he goes over clean and it can't be Ray Traylor because Savage considered him to be a jobber so he had to pin a Steiner brother clean they throw Saturn in their against Benoit which didn't get much complaining at the time on the net because they were getting a Benoit match on a major PPV but that always pissed me off. That match had zero heat. Bischoff/Larry Z was booked horribly with them trying to have it be a real match instead of Larry just squashing Eric ala Austin at No Way Out 2003. Bischoff's "selling" in this match is much much worse than any McMahon or announcer/referee/whatever non worker match I've ever seen. and the main event. There's just no defending Hogan in this one even if you're feeling nostalgic and love the guy. He squashes Sting, doesn't give him anything, talks trash without a moment selling fear (remember he had acted scared for over a year and the day of the match he's strutting down the ring playing air guitar on the belt without a single worry) Then he cons Nick Patrick into making a regular count instead of a slow one. The big win is rendered meaningless with Tony and co. acting like idiots screaming when Sting had been made to look like a fluke champ who only won because Bret helped him. Then the title is held up anyway in the aftermath that was it for me with WCW. Never bought another one of their PPVs
  6. 1988 saw a bunch of the featured midcarders from the boom period leave town off the top of my head Muracco, Steele, JYD, Bulldogs, Bam Bam Bigelow, Bundy, Steamboat, Billy Jack Haynes, Billy Graham, Killer Bees, Iron Sheik (well he was barely there anyway), Sika, Butch Reed there's probably more but it was clearly a transition year for the company. And yes the second half of 1989 is about as pedestrian as a company could get. Unfortunately it continued into 1990 where the WWF probably hit the creative low point of Vince's reign
  7. another guy that just can't quit the business
  8. Lawler insulting the Hart family was great but I think Heenan might have been better. Survivor Series 93 (paraphrased) Vince: "Watch out Bobby Stu might come after you" Heenan: "Yeah but by the time he gets here I'll be back in the hotel!" (Stu wearing a Boston Bruins jacket with picture of a bear on back) Heenan: "Hey look he's got a picture of Helen on the back!" Summerslam 91 Gorilla. "There's Stu and Helen with looks of concern" Heenan: "Yeah you know why they snuck in!They're looking out for the usher!"
  9. Woman and Liz looked so incredibly hot for most of 96. Woman flirting with Mean Gene during Flair's promos was great the McMichael/Greene/Horsemen angle was booked perfectly and was a legit suprise at the time. It was also the only angle where they kinda put over Bobby Heenan's credentials does anyone else remember a promo airing on Nitro in summer of 96 showcasing Teddy Long's brigade of Jobbers (Jim Powers, Joe Gomez, and I can't remember the rest) running shirtless on the beach with softcore skinemax music in the background? I also remember this is the time where Madusa's implants started to get out of control and she was getting a lot of airtime including an angle on one of the syndies where she was claiming the (married) men of WCW were all hitting on her (this was weird because it was never mentioned again and was completely dropped but I remember it airing) It's kind of awesome how important the secondary shows were in 96 before they became filler in 97/98. Regal beat Luger in Sept. 96 on Saturday Night after a rare appearance by Hall and Nash on that program You can make the case that WCW was doing the stunt/suprise booking before Vicne Russo. Russo just took it to the next level
  10. ah hell on a Muta kick: awesome
  11. am I the only one who LOVES Muta's 4th WCW theme? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ONOgnAGR3g0...feature=related and he always had trouble getting over but I'll be damned if this doesn't make him seem like a complete badass. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kD89ACzMr3s...feature=related
  12. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mCtjsaZ3Y4...feature=related
  13. 99/2000 ECW had great wrestling but I just couldn't get into it because the booking was so stale (and flat out boring) and Paul (through his own admission) was running on his last creative fumes
  14. Paul Bearer HEEL TURN!!
  15. BTW I've always found it kind of funny and ironic where in a business where everyone seems to find God its most prolific figure (Vince McMahon) absolutely loathes organized religion
  16. with Undertaker "getting his powers back" this was pretty much a necessity to sell the angle. It just shouldn't have been Punk. Although I did like his bug eyed selling of Taker's strength
  17. seeing the Cap' blade right on camera on one of the first Coliseum video releases freaked me out as a kid. I kept rewinding it and the crazy bastard just keeps slicing himself right in front of everyone
  18. great write up Bix Show is great at working house shows
  19. I can't remember where it was reported but I recall there being news about Stephanie loving to do those little segments with Jericho and encouraging the writers to come up with more of them they did a ton of them in summer/fall 2001
  20. so Chris Jericho is leaving WWE again. For the most part I would call the last 3 years a success where he cut some of the best promos of his career and had some intriguing personal feuds I think he'll be back but I have no idea what's left for him to do
  21. I did feel kind of bad for Austin during that time though. The sheriff gimmick was actually his idea and he was excited about it and thought it would get over huge. I remember it being reported at the time that he thought it was such a good idea that he didn't want anyone beyond the creative team to know about it because it would be such a great suprise/reveal. Maybe the first sign that times had passed him by.
  22. I agree but I still found that funny and I agree with Sek when Hunter wants to be he can be real funny
  23. Scott Keith was complaining about this on his blog so I guess Meltz says the tentative WM main events are Sheamus v Undertaker to unify the belts John Cena v Miz it's way too early to believe those will last
  24. Completely agree. DVR is a fun board because they actually seem to like wrestling and don't just pattern Meltzer's and general IWC's talking points. And the guys that do go against the grain go out of their way to *explain* why they feel that way and aren't just posting things to gets people riled up
  25. I'm pretty sure this has been posted before but it's just so awesome who cares http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dpjHeGOM6dY...feature=related howling with laughter
