  1. going back to previous posts Dave and Bryan seem to have unrealistic expectations for Sin Cara. Did they really believe that he was going to be allowed to work like Juventud Guerrera or Rey Mysterio circa 1998/1999? Not flashy enough? I'm sure he'll work maybe a slightly accelerated version of WWE style where he'll be allowed to do maybe a bit more but will mostly be grounded.
  2. Apparently Miss USA will be bring HLA to the set of Tough Enough later in the season (I guess this is a prerequisite in reality shows) well she just landed herself a job
  3. if you saw the Weakest Link you know Hunter knows nothing about sports. Stephanie for sure knows more
  4. ballsy move to do a one year build. I like it though. Hopefully they stick with it. re: Trish she still looks great but she obviously is not clicking with the audience right now. I'm sure it has something to do with her just becoming "another wrestler" but she had no real heat as soon as she came back. I think a large portion of the fans are so young they don't recognize her. Plus she doesn't seem to fit in in a PG environment (at least not yet). And yes she does at times look freakishly skinny. The lack of implants (or smaller set) could be a big reason though
  5. what I learned from the reviewer guy at Scooty Keith's blog: If you thought HHH/Undertaker was a good match you're a retard who knows nothing about wrestling
  6. I'll add on to the majority saying the production values on the show were fantastic and might have been the most smoothly innovative show the company has ever produced Miz video package was tremendous
  7. Hunter was taking some nasty flat back bumps in that match. Almost painful to watch (that is in a physical way, not aesthetically)
  8. what a strange show it did not have the feel of a "modern" mania it felt like something out of the "federation" years with all the faces going over and a bunch of short matches in the undercard I knew as soon as JR said Cena had never lost a 1 on 1 match at Mania that Miz was going to win. Kind of thought he would win anyway with all the faces going over throughout the show
  9. I also have a pretty funny WM 8 story. I was in the 7th grade but had a friend that was a senior (he lived up the street from me). Well he was having a party at his cousin's house and I went with my brother and father. He had a cousin that had some sort of disability as she was in a wheelchair and had one of those breathing tube type things. Well she was a huge fan and would yell and swear at the wrestlers all night. Off the top of my head: Piper/Bret; "Hit him with the fucking bell Roddy!" UT/Jake: "This shit is fake if Undertaker can't beat Jake the Snake" plus some cracks about Ray Combs. anyway when Warrior returned my friend was in his room with his girlfriend and when he heard Warrior's theme through the door he came bursting out screaming. It doesn't sound funny in print but it was an awesome moment. Great times
  10. and have to admit the one with Shawn waiting in line to get Hunter's autograph made me laugh
  11. the one with Shawn and Vince crying is surreal almost like they were father and son
  12. if I'm not mistaken the female "fan" at 5:35 is Wendi Richter
  13. I always thought Afa and Sika were fantastic bumpers especially for their size and yes has George Steele ever had a good match? I don't remember any vs Savage during their year and a half run. were any of the ones with Bruno any good? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PltUw1EvVqo any good?
  14. Monday's free show certainly was surreal. Dave and Bryan throwing a fit over Kane playing an air trombone and spending about 5-7 minutes on it. The whole Shawn Hunter bit with the "You're right" ending and the capper with Bryan scolding Dave for not knowing that Daniel Larusso was Raplh Macchio's character in Karate Kid oh yeah and the Columbine reference by Dave where he chuckled (and then admonished himself)
  15. The atypical booking can be traced back to late 91/almost all of 92. The WWF was trying new things and going more towards a traditional wrestling product. Of course there were ridiculous gimmicks and angles but there was a definite shift. It didn't work in terms of turning business around but still have to give Vince some credit for trying a style he obviously loathes
  16. Sometime last year I watched a bunch of Flair for the Gold segments on you tube and I liked some of them but it just came off as something WCW couldn't quite pull off. Flair and Arn just didn't seem comfortable and the production crew was something out of a Canadian public access show. The Blondes one is great though. The one with Dusty and the Assassin is beyond terrible
  17. This is rather funny to me because in the last couple days I was pondering starting a thread about Meltzer stopping his coverage of wrestling in 84/85. The hatred towards WWF and Vince used to make me angry, especially when I was first online, and in a sense it still does but the other side won't budge.
  18. as an aside didn't Dusty briefly get the book around this time? I kind of figured this because Meng all of a sudden got a push again. I think he booked Road Wild 98 if I'm not mistaken (the Barbarian-Meng match might be a give away!)
  19. Bryan's ranting against the Miz has officially become tiresome. He even acknowledged this last night on the WOL free show. I get his point but they have let him lay out Cena 4 weeks in a row. Bryan will cite the loss of viewers in the overrun from last week as a sign it isn't working but still he must have a smidge more credibility from the last month of booking
  20. the career stip was dropped
  21. Summer of 98 WCW is terrible and was when I really gave up on the product. I still watched Nitro and Thunder most weeks but there was no emotional investment. Didn't order one PPV that year. Starrcade 97 was the last WCW PPV I bought
  22. Alvarez says they are going on last
  23. Wrong. Terry Funk's AJPW theme music is the best - Midnight Express is two. I might accept Choshu as third though. Muta's 89 theme is the best I've ever heard filling out my top 5 2. Midnights 3. 2nd Vader theme 4. Muta's 4th theme 5. Jake Roberts 1st WWF theme
