  1. PWI:
  2. This happens because WWE wrestlers train to be bodybuilders. Vince doesn't care about flexibility or cardio. Bob Backlund started doing a lot of cardio training in the early 80s and was promptly buried
  3. BTW, I can't see Edge holding the title to WM. I say he loses it at the Rumble back to Cena
  4. it's funny, but what just happened was almost exactly what HTQ did for fantasy booking the WWE title, except I think Hunter was involved
  5. Edge wins the title. Also, they must love Carlito. He goes over Shawn clean!! Yes clean!!! and then is the last eliminated. WOW
  6. I've always seen a "smark" as someone who separates wrestler from character. Smarks look at it from both perspectives. "Marks" look at wrestling from a one dimensional perspective. "Marks" look at Carlito and say "that guy is a jerk, I hope he gets beat up" "Smarks" separate the two. "He's has a pretty good character, but he sucks in the ring". It's about looking deeper and not accepting things on the surface.
  7. The moment that stands out for me was when one of my favorites at the time, Mr. Perfect, lost his first match to Brutus Beefcake of all people.
  8. Yeah, keep in mind that the creative dept. is currently run by a woman... a woman who told Molly Holly, one of the few skilled workers the Fed had, that she was too fat. She said the same thing to Nidia also. However they didn't make a storyline out of it, they just buried Nidia and Noble.
  9. yeah that's my point. Money heals all wounds. Playing politics is playing politics. Being selfish is being selfish. From an idealistic standpoint, it shouldn't matter how business is doing, but it does. It's not some sort of altruistic campaign, it's about making money. In the end when the people getting burned get in power they will just repeat the cycle.
  10. Funny how it always seems when business is doing great, the lockeroom is close and when business is tanking, everyone is at each other's throat. You didn't hear a peep about Hogan in the 80s because he was making people millions. As soon as business started to slip in the early 90s, all of a sudden all the stories of Hogan's politicking came out. Same with Hunter for the most part.
  11. see, I'm not saying I agree with this stuff, but it is very common in sports and in any kind of fraternity or group. Several sports teams have kangaroo courts. Rookies are made to dress up as women and carry barbie back packs through airports or to the bullpen. It's a very insular idea that people on the outside just don't understand. The wrestlers repsect the hell out of Long and in their minds he was disrespected. I just don't think people on the periphery can understand

  15. Yep, that's why Dusty Rhodes would always win "Most Popular Wrestler" when Hogan was ions more over. Even at age 8 I knew something was up. As far as them being smarkish, I remember some issues in 96 that mentioned the "The Clique" having backstage power in WWF. That's how I originally found out that Hall, Nash, Hunter, Kid, and Shawn were all friends. There was also an article back in 95 that ripped the WWF for using Bret Hart so poorly during the year. As a mark and due to the fact I was not a big Bret fan at all I remember sort off being pissed at the author. They also talked about the Beverly Brothers being scheduled for a tag title run in the early 90s but plans were changed. They also referred to Shawn Michaels as Mike Hickenbottom on several occasions
