  6. I'd like to expand on this. Edge comes off as *so* un-natural on the mic. I never get the impression he believes what he is saying. It's not necessarily what he's saying, it's how he says it. His words seem so forced and he has this *wink wink* *nudge nudge* "I'm cutting a wrestling promo" look on his face. And it's not like he's not getting good material to work with. The whole "screwed" storyline last year, MITB, the Hardy feud, being allowed to shoot on Flair are all angles that should lead to some great promo work. I don't think I've enjoyed one interview he has given.
  7. Danergous A, any news from Meltzer about a Shawn/Vince match at Mania?
  8. I could actually see him getting (somewhat) over as anyone who has seen the movie knows he has a weird sort of charisma. Just keep him out of the ring. Use him as a bodyguard/enforcer type.
  9. According to PWI. Hell, I was just watching The Longest Yard and wondering why Vince hadn't signed him yet
  10. Alvarez's Sunday Update Same deal as the 04 Rumble with Holly and Lesnar. A jobber for Batista to feud with so they don't have to waste somebody "important" to do a big PPV job.
  11. They signed Palumbo simply because of the good press they received from mentioning his brother was a war hero. Haas was probably signed to keep him away from TNA Aguilera- he's big and can talk. He's going to get a second chance. The only reason he was fired the first time was because of his neck injury.
  12. Taken from several boards (TSM, DVD,etc) Juvi has a lot of heat on him. So much so that Crazy and Psychosis are begging to be split from him. He wanted his girlfriend to be his valet but it was nixed because she doesn't speak english. He asked why Booker gets to have a valet and management said because Sharmell is his wife, is under contract and speaks English. Johnny Ace wants to sign Samoa Joe to be the monster heel that Rikishi couldn't pull off in 2000. Joe invited Brian Gewirtz to a ROH show to send a message to TNA that he is willing to negotiate with WWE. The Tim White angle was Gewirtz's idea and Stephanie insisted on it happening despite practically everyone else being against it. The Juvi/Kash match was put on after the White angle on purpose. The thought being the crowd would shit on the match no matter how hard they tried. Despite this, Juvi and kash still worked hard but the crowd didn't care. Jeff Hardy no showed the TNA PPV because he wasn't in a main event angle. Hardy is on time and dedicated if he is involved in top angles. If he is in a midcard program, no one can get in touch with him. Charlie Haas, Chuck Palumbo and Aaron Aguilera are all headed back to WWE. Palumbo is being brought back because the company received good press for mentioning his brother was a war hero Christy Hemme was sent to OVW to try and get her to quit. When it didn't work, they just fired her. Eugene is out of rehab
  13. I believe you're thinking of the Jim Brown case.
  14. it didn't help that Rock returned a few weeks later with no bruises or scratches and sold nothing at all from the beatdown.
  15. Jerry Lawler/RVD/Sabu beating down pretty much every star in ECW following the Raven/Dreamer blowoff at the ECW Arena in June of 97 (Raven's last ECW show for 2 and a half years) That post match beatdown went on forever and it was the last ECW angle that I cared about before Paul ran out of ideas.
  16. from personal experiences, I knew several people growing up who absolutely loved wrestling and when they found out it was worked it just killed it for them and they stopped watching. I've found out that there are several fans who still want to think wrestling is real no matter what. I think every smart fan still knows these kind of people. And no I won't go for an easy "It's still real to me man!" joke. I know several people in their 20's who despite my constant smart talk still hold on to the belief when deep down they know it's a work. My passion for wrestling skyrocketed when I came on the net in 97. I don't really ever want to be a mark again. I like knowing inside terms and having backstage knowledge.
  17. WWF from 1986-1989. The wrestling wasn't hot, but at no time in any promotion did I feel a closer personal connection to the wrestlers and the storylines. They made you care so much about the workers and the results of the matches that it hooked you in permanently
  18. from wwe.com RAW Preview "Additionally, Mr. McMahon will give a review of Bret Hart's new DVD. Tune in to RAW (on USA at 9/8 CT) to find out how the WWE Chairman feels about the Hit Man's DVD." Note: Shawn Michaels was originally listed as appearing in the segment also, but that has since been taken down
  19. The Royal Rumble, Wrestlemania, and Summerslam will all do huge numbers while the rest of the business indicators remain stagnant (although the secondary shows have showed slight increase due more PPV outlets all over the world) IE the same story as the last 5 years
  20. Taken from various boards and sites.: Matt Hardy was supposed to be chokeslammed by Undertaker at the end of Survivor Series. Hardy bailed on the fly because he thought it would "hurt his momentum" (what momentum?) Taker chewed him out in public in front of the boys, called him a mark and that he should respect the veteran wrestlers more. Apparently the squash at the PPV was his punishment. Big suprise, Hogan is upset at his Summerslam payoff. The New RAW GM should be Dusty Rhodes. Vince is not allowing Benoit and Rey to work an Eddy memorial show in Mexico Hogan wants to work Cena, Angle or Big Show if Austin won't do the WM match. Rey accidently hit a fan with a cake at a recent house show. Tony Chimmel was the target. Orlando Jordan slapped a fan who called him a racial slur at a recent house show. WWE is about to sign Sonny Siaki
  21. Undertaker goes over in the main event. This booking is maddening. I still think they will push Orton towards the title at Mania anyway with the idea that he took Taker to the limit or something of that nature. Why did Undertaker need to go over? Is he working Batista at the Rumble?
  22. damn, Rey jobbed clean to Kane in the tag match. Well RAW had to get their "heat back" after last month
  23. Oh, and these two things go hand in hand. A good product will draw money. Just a thought, when you say "good product" do you mean "good wrestling" ? I don't think a promotion needs to have a lot of great matches up and down the card to draw money. The WWF from 1984-1989 and from 97-99 prove that you don't need a lot of great in ring work to draw money. Would you consider the product "good" in those years? I think this goes back to the "presentation" vs "content" argument. The WWF's presentation of their product in those years is what drew, not the content.
