Meltzer: Both sides are very happy. Raw did a 4.4 and UFC did a 1.6. Ultimate Fighter did a 1.3.

Benoit/Eddy/Rey/JBL/Christian/Batista added to RAW

Judging by Vince's line about someone getting fired, the ending angle and the news from this week's Observer, I would assume there will be a RAW v SD Survivor Series match with both GM's job on the line (if SD wins, Bischoff fired, if Raw wins, Long fired) -

it was done to build to a match at Survivor Series -
I was watching the Best of the 80s DVD just yesterday and thinking the same thing. The WWF had tons of fat guys in the 80s and early 90s but pretty much none of them could work and none of them really bumped for anybody. Vince was always a mark for bodybuilders but he also liked the big fat guys. Wonder what happened?

Thought I would post this. Just a great post by Meltzer at WC about the politics and ego that led to the demise of Flair as a top draw in 91/92 WWF.

Got caught up in his jacket?!?! What booking.... Like I mentioned above it was furthering the dissention angle between Benoit and Woman. The idea was that Woman was loyal to Ric and Arn and didn't believe Benoit was a "real" Horseman at that point. Around this time they were doing promos on Saturday Night bickering back and forth about trust and loyalty and the like. The angle was completely forgotten about as the NWO became the focal point of shows. In fact when it started up again, Benoit and Nancy were all of a sudden in love and it was heavily applied that they were doing each other ( ie a drunken Benoit and Woman going up to their hotel room in Europe making threats at Kevin Sullivan)

The match was done to get the Giant's heat back after doing a humiliating job to Hogan at Hog Wild (where he had to sell being Ko'D for 10-15 minutes after a simple belt shot) and to further the Woman/Benoit dissention storyline that was developing at the time (and went no where in the end)

Yeah, I liked Raw tonight. Even though they had rehashed angles they were set up nicely and well executed. Also the announcing was much better than usual. And they also seem to be experimenting with new camera angles/shots which is a welcome change. Also, it's pretty clear that CCC and Masters have moved passed Edge on the heel depth chart. I don't know if this program is doing Hardy OR Edge any good whatsoever. It has put Edge right back in the midcard after they had him dangling in the Main event scene for a while at the beginning of the year. Some people have been saying that Masters is just cannon fodder to give Shawn his heat back after the Hogan program, but I think it is the start of a monster Orton-like push. Like others have said I see Masters and CCC joining HHH and Flair to reform Evolution. as an aside, did anyone notice how ridiculously skinny Torrie Wilson has gotten? She must be scared to death of all the new women coming in.

I saw them wrestle at the House Show I went to a couple weeks ago. They went over Mike Mizanin/Chris Cage. They played the stereotypical southern cowboy heels. They were hinting at a gay type angle last night, but there was no sign of that at the house show. As for their work, really basic stuff.

I was thinking the same exact thing at the House Show I went to in Albany last Saturday. There was a guy, probably in his early to mid 20s, going around with a belt posturing and doing cliched heel promos to total strangers. He stood up the ENTIRE show and would taunt the wrestlers with his belt when they came out. As if it was supposed to make them jealous or something that he had a replica belt. During intermission, he went around carrying the belt over his head chanting "ECW Motherfuckers!!! ECW!! ECW!!"
-
I would guess because of what they feel are a lack of mic skills. He's clearly been buried the past 2 or 3 months. And suprise suprise, when he came out at the House Show I went to on Saturday, he got very little reaction.

It was from the show where Angle, Jindrak, and Reigns cut Big Show's hair after the tranquilizer deal.

from Keller, so take it with a grain of salt: So I guess it's Taker v Batista at Summerslam. Have to think that program won't do Dave any favors.

I always had suspicions, but I realized that wrestling was a work when on an episode of Prime Time in 1988, JYD was wrestling Demolition Ax and JYD did a clothesline that missed by so much that it wasn't even funny and Ax still sold it. I kept rewinding to make sure what I saw was true and after pausing and slow motion, it was clear that JYD did not come close to touching him. I kept suspending disbelief for basically the next 10 years, but deep down I knew it was fake. Finally, I came on the net in the Spring of 1997 as I was just graduating High School (right in the middle of the Austin/Hart Foundation angle) and was just blown away. I loved it. All the news and spoilers made me more of a fan. I visited all the NEWZ boards and just couldn't get enough of it. It wasn't until I discovered Herb Kunze's site and came across the "feud" he was having with Sean Shannon, did I realize the big deal about "knowing how to work" and "good wrestling" I never really thought of "good' wrestling or "bad" wrestling, it was all the same to me. I was a big time fan of Scott Keith when I discovered his reviews in 1999, but by 2001 I was basically done with him. After years of lurking I started posting at Mark boards in early 2003 and in the fall of 03 I joined Kayfabe memories and then finally joined TSM in July 04.

According to several people at other boards, this was NOT in the current edition of the Observer. It was more about Meltzer putting things together and projecting than a set card.
-
do they do Edge/Matt at SS or wait till later so it won't be overshadowed by HBK/Hogan, Cena/Jericho, Batista/Hassan, etc.? I really don't think they will have these two headline a PPV, maybe a Raw, but not a PPV.

Johnny Ace, Fit Finley and SKINNER with the beatdown on Matt!!!!!! This is awesome!

PWI: "It didn't do Dawn Marie any favors that she happens to be 33 years old and aging with each passing year and WWE seems to be looking for hot 20-something's nowadays" ^ this coming from a company that employed Terri Runnels for 10 years.
