  1. This is a territory where Buddy f'n Rose, the most incendiary guy imaginable, didn't draw. Why didn't he draw? Because he had too good matches with jobbers. Watching a good match on TV bewildered the NYC crowd and they didn't think he was a threat. He worked TOO hard.
  2. I actually think Johnny Rodz probably meant more to the MSG crowd in 1983 than Billy Robinson did. And that's just as Rodz. Medico 2 would be way more over with the PR crowd in 83 than guys like Ole and Robinson would be with the MSG crowd in 83. And I say that as a huge Robinson fan.
  3. Playing catch up. I think I liked this match more than the last, but if you merged the two of them you'd get something really great. I'd love to have seen a match with this opening session, up to Cena's five knuckle shuffle, the heat segment of the first match, and maybe a shorter version of the wild finishing stretch of the first one. Here, everything felt more deliberate and spaced out more which was better in some ways and worse in others. I would have liked more counters to the finishers instead of the kickouts, but I think moving forward, Cena's frustration in not being able to put Owens away was as giving as anything he did in the first match. I laughed out loud giddily at the kick during the handshake. I'm a horrible person.
  4. Loser has to take on Bulldog Bob Brown.
  5. To be fair, he can sell a lot of popcorn during that match. The NYC crowd wants to see John Studd vs Ivan Putski.
  6. I thought Studd should go around here. I actually thought he'd be a great pick for Parv's next. I could see him worrying about stinking up cards, but he's a perfect Andre opponent. I think he'll work well in World Class though.
  7. Joe Blanchard surrounds himself with craven madmen.
  8. Adonis probably went later than he should have for 83. EDIT: Ah, that's why.
  9. It'll make a hell of a six man tag team too.
  10. Darsow is a perfect poor man's Kernoodle.
  11. I can't imagine Fritz and Bad News getting along. He sure as hell isn't going to like putting over the Von Erichs and giving them offense all the time.
  12. Have you guy all seen this? It's only a few minutes of action but it's well worth watching. I think this is different than the other andre vs bock footage that's been on youtube for years.
  13. I don't think Koko was a bad pick by any means. There are some guys I think are more valuable, even to Kris, right now, but Koko just has huge upside.
  14. Are you more willing to job Saito than Tully?
  15. I think despite his call for "Value", Parv is leaning towards his own personal favorites and rationalizing them after the fact.
  16. There is a private message chat going on with every Canadian promotion to do a lot of joint things. Info coming soon. That one makes perfect sense, since we area all; socialist pigs. Keith Hart is the key to breaking western Canada. Which is the first time Keith Hart had ever been the key to anything.
  17. Blanchard obviously has a bone to pick suddenly with Fritz. Tearing his family apart.
  18. I call that the Brody Principle.
  19. I'd say that I'd take over the Florida territory after RocketCrypt dies in 1985 but I don't even want to pretend to be Mike Graham
  20. I would suggest you look at things not just as a game, but also as a shared storytelling/writing device, not as a competition so much as just an ability to create and enjoy yourself with like-minded individuals. In that regard, while somewhat morbid, it'd be amusing to see how people deal with death and injuries and what not (there's so much distance here and we've looked at fantasy booking scenarios and what ifs and what not for so long...). The knowledge can be built into a plus and the way that people deal with it relative to how it was dealt with real life could be interesting. It doesn't need to be about "winning" so much as creating a fun, crazy shared experience, no? I think there's plenty of room for competitiveness in there too.
  21. I am completely against great match theory. Shawn had way more great matches, I will admit that. By "Great Match Theory' Shawn is better, but I am anti-Great Match Theory, just like Matt D. A very very dysfunctional school of philosophy.
  22. My keen advice has been shut out completely due to a pick that was made from a guy I don't even know. I understand the notion though, but I'm feeling like Fall 96 Sting here. I'm being confused for Jeff Farmer.
  23. Is any version of Kimchee active in 1983? I know one is in 84.
  24. Wahoo is another one of those great "1983" picks.
