  1. I would suggest you look at things not just as a game, but also as a shared storytelling/writing device, not as a competition so much as just an ability to create and enjoy yourself with like-minded individuals. In that regard, while somewhat morbid, it'd be amusing to see how people deal with death and injuries and what not (there's so much distance here and we've looked at fantasy booking scenarios and what ifs and what not for so long...). The knowledge can be built into a plus and the way that people deal with it relative to how it was dealt with real life could be interesting. It doesn't need to be about "winning" so much as creating a fun, crazy shared experience, no? I think there's plenty of room for competitiveness in there too.
  2. I am completely against great match theory. Shawn had way more great matches, I will admit that. By "Great Match Theory' Shawn is better, but I am anti-Great Match Theory, just like Matt D. A very very dysfunctional school of philosophy.
  3. My keen advice has been shut out completely due to a pick that was made from a guy I don't even know. I understand the notion though, but I'm feeling like Fall 96 Sting here. I'm being confused for Jeff Farmer.
  4. Is any version of Kimchee active in 1983? I know one is in 84.
  5. Wahoo is another one of those great "1983" picks.
  6. I feel like Tully is a little like Rose in that he can also be the leader of a heel group instead of a manager.
  7. I'm not convinced that Michaels' 92-93 is all that better than Austin's 91-92 to be honest. I think it is better. I just don't think it was all that better. The ten minute TV title match format helped Austin and I think he had a lot more featured matches on TV because of it.
  8. I'm very curious who will get Jimmy Valiant. I think his value in 83-84 is such that he probably should have gone already.
  9. VJM now missing ear. News at 11.
  10. Poorly edited rumblings abound over what might happen if someone other than WWF drafted one or both of the Wild Samoans and they refused to drop the belts on the way out.
  11. I was kind of hoping that Kamala was going to end up somewhere weird.
  12. I could see heel dynamite as part of a tag team in Florida.
  13. This is frankly more than any non-ohioan should ever know about Ohio, let alone a non-american.
  14. Akron, OH - Physical Education Building is the Hokkaido of 1983.
  15. Was in an all day retreat. Saw this at lunch time (heard from a friend). Haven't had time to process yet.
  16. Instead of the USSR headband, he can have a goalie helmet.
  17. Is there even a Reagan-tastic anti-communist fervor in Canada? Maybe he can be a face with the shared experience of cold winters to get him over with the populace.
  18. Parv's strategy of using Andre to bring in talent meant that he had the leeway to go for a manager early.
  19. I could post some more Fidel Sierra gifs. He's a fake Destroyer, a fake Assassin, and a more than passable Cuban.

    Mocho Cota

Watched it again more closely this time and I think I underrated it. It's a little bit tricky actually. I underrated it because I was so into it. I was really into Casas' selling and Cota's dickishness, and I really wanted Casas to unload on him more. I wanted him to get a chance to beat the crap out of Cota, like we saw in, let's say MS1 vs Sangre Chicana. I wanted him to hit that massive punch and just viscerally get back at him for what he did to him the whole match. And that doesn't happen. I wanted a different story than what they ultimately gave me, but the story that they did give me was good. Every little bit of offense that Casas gets in the back half of the match (really the whole match) is desperate and earned. Cota spends the whole match cutting him off, to the point that the idea of Casas really hitting a move is built up to the extent that when he does, that's it. I think if they went a little bit further towards what I thought I wanted, it wouldn't have been enough, but since they didn't go that way at all, it actually works. My head really enjoyed it but it wasn't what my heart ultimately wanted very much because the way they built the first 90% of the match.
  21. it's weird to think that because every territory had to have a #1 and #2 babyface basically. I know some were saved but there haven't really been any major surprises yet, guys who have a lot more value in 1983 then they do looking back in 2015.
  22. To me Barry is basically an upgrade on Hennig who was there at the time, but with a wider range of possibilities because of his size. Sullivan goes on and on about how Barry was the best possible babyface to build a company around in 1984. This is close enough.
  23. As a second round pick, he should get the Galaxians for free (not the wrestlers, just the gimmick.)
