  2. I wanted Steph to get some comeuppance too, which is why I figured HHH/Steph vs Punk/AJ would work, but HHH/Steph vs Bryan/Brie has a level of Wrestlemania spectacle to it too. Ultimately, this is all pretty moot. Things I now also want: Sheamus as part of the Wyatt family.
  3. Charles, If Shawn was up to it, would you want HHH/Michaels vs Punk/Bryan instead? If not, maybe HHH/Sheamus (which has some backstage connotations to it) vs Punk/Bryan?
  4. I kind of excited for heel Sheamus and frankly Cena vs Wyatt is a lot weirder and potentially enjoyable than Cena vs Orton again. Part of me really wants to do a shadow campaign for AJ/Punk vs HHH/Steph since that's more interesting to me than Punk/HHH II. Taker vs Lesnar sort of bores the crap out of me. I still hope we get Hogan/Real Americans interaction. Hogan and Zeb interaction would kind of make the show.

  6. There's a second match and also a tag in between the fluke win and the 2/3 falls match.

  8. You went into Cesaro/Zayn blind? If you think it's mind-blowing, then you should go back and watch the 2-3 matches beforehand because so much of the match is built off spots in the previous matches.

I feel like Memphis always did a pretty good job with it, especially later on into the 80s/early 90s. It was never as easy as "You're a babyface now. I'm going to trust you." They'd often bring up old grudges and how guys were teaming reluctantly.

The only thing that was an indication at all was the mention that he had stayed with his dad at the hospital or what not.
  11. I actually really like the vignette of Piper in the movie trailer. It was kind of cutting edge for WWF, more like something you'd see in ECW. They kept jumping ahead a few days or what not, with Piper saying he wasn't going to come back and then a few seconds later, wavering a bit but staying the same, and finally cut ahead again to when Lawler made it about sick kids and how he'd do it for them.
  12. The Meltzerian mindset leading into the show was that the show would draw the worst WWF PPV number ever if Piper vs Lawler wasn't there to save it.
  13. In 94 there was a North Georgia promotion that had TV on Channel 14 in Atlanta. Was that Peach State Wrestling (which had the Armstrongs as heels) or something else?
  14. You should look at the Austin/Rocker Dropper lawsuit next.
  15. As humble as ever, but some of his comments here were definitely against the usual company line.
  16. I don't know. I kind of loved this, just for Lawler laughing at all of Dibiase's jokes. I haven't seen a lot of 94-95 so maybe they end up interacting a lot but there's something novel about the two of them heeling it up together.
  17. Apparently, the two awards I cared about the most went the way I wanted. NXT and Regal.

I thought Cody looked especially good this week on Raw. Usually there's this barely controlled awkwardness to his stuff, that I think he generally uses as a plus since it adds this veneer of believability to his offense. Here, though, he was smoother than usual and I thought it made him look all the better. I liked the finishing segment too.
  19. How much better would have this been if it ended with Paul Bearer managing Michaels for a night.
  20. I think almost all of us are in the same boat, though most of us realize why they're doing what they're doing. I applaud your directness on this matter though.
  21. I don't think it is an issue at all, but something to examine and really look at, in part because we do have so much weekly tv so we can see how it was utilized and handled on a week to week basis.
  22. Perfect's face offense in 93 is a lot better than his heel offense in 89-91. You can see it in the Doink series really well. He was probably the most over guy on the roster in January 1993, so it's a bit of a shame they didn't run with him more.
  23. I do think there's a lot to say about the 2/3 fall structure in Portland because it's this crazy combo of them using it and them having to pull it out almost weekly in front of the same crowds, so they had to switch up structures and stories and finishes and format. This is true in both tags and singles.
  24. At some point Cena has to get his win back from Bryan, right? I'm just saying.
  25. Of course, 92. I am all over this place this week.
