  1. I don't really get a chance to watch as much wrestling as most of you, but these are the dudes I've been trying to fit in when I do get time... 1. Nick Bockwinkel. I've been very slowly working my way through the AWA set. I've mostly looked forward to Bock's stuff. Interesting to see him work with a variety of people over the course of the decade. I watch him and miss a heel who could make the face look like a legit threat, yet still make himself seem dangerous. 2. Fit Finlay. Just watched the documentary on his family. I haven't seen a lot of his indy run from the last couple of years. Made me get out my motyc sets and watch some stuff. Don't not like anything he does. 3. Big Show. I just realized a few weeks ago, that his segments are one of the few times I stop fast-forwarding through WWE programming. I just like the way he wrestles as a guy his size should. He really should have been just ruined and washed up years ago. The fact that he's a champion and still delivering in the ring, let alone even still wrestling, is pretty impressive. 4. Sgt. Slaughter. I'm looking forward to his stuff on the AWA set. Recently watched the first (I think) Shieky brawl online. Always loved the character as a kid, just getting into him as a wrestler. 5. Antonio Cesaro. One of the other few reasons I stop fast-forwarding. It sounds really lame, but I've just gotten back into working out heavily and he's kind of an inspiration. I'm a lanky guy, so I'll never be a Cena or anything, but I think I can get close to Cesaro. I like his "feats of strength" spots. He also wrestles like his character should. Roughhouse with some good execution on the side. Glad to see him doing pretty well in WWE.
  2. I think this can probably be cleared up for me by some of the guys that put together the AWA set, but... I don't like how much Jerry Blackwell gives his opponents. Here's this huge dude, and (granted, I'm only 3 discs in) I've yet to see him look like a real threat. My theory is that I'm seeing a lot of blow-off matches. Stuff where the point of the match is for the face to finally get their hands on Blackwell, so they're giving the crowd what they paid to see. I'm guessing that he was built up as a threat via tv squashes and attacks on dudes earlier, etc. Is this right? I mean, the dude is in six of my current top ten matches. But this thread is about things you don't like by guys you like, so...
  3. Well technically ALL of them could be questioned, but there is no one on that list I could see anyone convincing me was a worse brawler than Brody. Duggan absolutely decimates Brody. Mid-South run is great and even if you want to argue that his WWF run should drag him down, comparing worst to worst I don't see anyway Brody could possibly win. Yeah, Duggan vs. Buzz on the Mid South set blows away any Brody brawl I've seen. That was one of the most exciting things I've ever watched in wrestling.
  4. You can get a good look at a bull by sticking your head up a butcher's ass. Wait... That's not right. It's gotta be your bull.

I agree, but so far the thing that sets Ambrose apart from Edge (for me) is that he comes off as genuinely dangerous. Edge just always looked goofy and wrestled kinda goofy. When Ambrose jumps on someone, I can buy him being an ass-kicker.
  7. Sign of the night on Raw: "I Mizzed in my pants".
  8. Monday Night Football is using the Raw theme (whatever that shitty song is) for bumps tonight. Keeps confusing me.
  9. See. Kane is awesome. Close that other thread.
  10. I really want to make a push to get "Best Cowboy" added to the ballot.
  11. God, I hope he dictated it to someone and it's written exactly as he talks.
  12. I was glad to see the Chiefs avoided a Benoit-tribute-like situation by not mentioning Belcher at their game Sunday. They also aren't planning on putting anything on their uniform or anything like that (rightfully so).
  13. How valid are the Von Erichs' claims that they were some huge ratings-draw in the Middle East? I've heard that claim on the WWE doc and Heroes of World Class, but always wondered if it was valid. No clue if it's even anything that could be checked or whatever. If true, it seems like it'd bolster Kerry's case even more.
  14. I thought his teammates tweeting that he was a great guy and great teammate was totally inappropriate given he is a murderer who left a small child orphaned.
  15. Don't want to derail this thread, but who do you think is?
  16. Wrestlemania VIII. I know, but I'm talking modern-day, huge spectacle, Wrestlemania. Lucas Oil Stadium is perfect. The set designers could come up with something awesome for the big window.
  17. I'm hoping they do Indianapolis sometime. I thought a Super Bowl there wouldn't work, but people raved about how great it was. Vince seems to dig using Super Bowl venues, so maybe it can happen.
  18. They are true according to the lawyer that represented Jerry. To be fair, though, the dude's a nut. Good lawyer, but nuts.

  20. There is some poor video editor that was very, very happy the day that settlement was reached. It had to be a giant bitch blurring those logos on video with so much movement and so many cuts. I always felt for the poor bastard that got stuck with that job.
  21. I moved to Louisville in '05 when OVW was still WWE's developmental. The Tolands (The Dicks), Daniel Pruder, Kevin Thorn and one of Duece and Domino (I think it was Compton) lived in my apartment complex. I was pumping gas next to CM Punk one time and saw him eating out a couple times. It was cool seeing those guys around town and then seeing them pop up on Raw or Smackdown a couple of weeks later. I miss them being developmental. Current OVW is still pretty good. The deal with TNA doesn't seem to make a ton of difference. It's at least got a few of their guys a shot on tv.
  22. Your last sentence there is interesting, Dylan. Sting was probably a bigger draw not wrestling and not talking than when he was.
  23. If a Vince Senate victory somehow leads to a Vince/Mitch McConnell match at Wrestlemania, then I'm all for it!
  24. Paul was also riding the Tea Party wave which was very strong in '10. His opponent also self-destructed in a debate. He kept bringing up some fraternity prank that Paul participated in in college and trying to pass it off like Paul was some kind of "devil-worshipper" or something. I was at that debate. It was entertaining.
  25. Didn't the PPV cut off before the finish or something here? In some markets. I watched it live and I caught the entire PPV. Even then, that isn't a booking issue with the match. Yeah, not booking. I just thought it kind of encapsulates the problems with WCW. They finally get a finish to a ppv right, and a good chunk of their audience can't see it.
