So, in a few years can we look forward to Kurt Angle saying he's going to ass-rape one of Beer Money in a shoot interview?
-
Is it odd that I find the things RE's written on Davey Richards creepier than all of this stuff?

Just to bring this back to Hardy... I don't think he's a main-eventer by any stretch, but dude is certainly over. A few months ago, Smackdown was taped here in Louisville. They sent over Hardy to be on the morning show for the tv station I work for. Now, we don't have a studio audience or anything like that for this show. We didn't even promote that people would be able to meet Hardy or anything. Still, just with us saying a couple of days before that Matt was going to be on the show, people lined up around the block from our place. Mind you, this was at 6 in the morning. I was pretty shocked to hear that. Cena or Batista (or even HHH) I could see. I was surprised at the turnout for Hardy, though.

Doesn't Mitch Hedburg have a bit about why it's a bad idea to get high in the woods? I think it involves bears. Be careful, John.

I did like heel Cole. I think it makes for an interesting dynamic on the show. Josh is kinda "the viewer/fan", while Cole is kinda McMahon's puppet, as Josh called him. I just don't get how they'll reconcile that Cole with the white-bread douche from Monday nights. Cole's been wierd lately. He comes off as almost hostile toward Striker a lot of times, as does Lawler. Striker's schtick has worn thin to me, but the hostility is still odd. It's just not right hearing Cole be the grizzled vet of the announcers. It makes me picture a "commentators court" like the wrestler's court and Cole in The Undertaker's role.

He was even worse on NXT. Although I'm kinda thinking he was being bad on purpose for that show. Like he's going to be its heel announcer or something. Either way, his new schtick of burying everyone is getting old fast.

I don't get why "Hollywood writers" were contacted for a reality show.

Fun fact: Gene Rayburn is from my tiny hometown of Christopher, IL.

Anyone stuck Shawn in the 'ol Gordy test thingy?

Exactly. It's called promotion. What's funny, is that people criticize the WWE for this stuff, but it's common practice in any media. News stations consistently call themselves, the "most-watched", "most-accurate", "first on the scene", etc. Many times, they're manipulating numbers to make these claims true, or outright fabricating these claims. It's the same as the disdain for the use of "WWE Universe". It's branding. ESPN has Sports Nation. There's Red Sox Nation, blah, blah, blah. It's the same thing. I think people need to get used to the fact that WWE is a company. They're going to do things that companies who want to promote themselves and make money do. It's not going to fit with what a lot of people see as "wrestling" promotion. But it's good promotion for a business, which is what they are.

You know, I honestly can't answer any of these questions other than when (85). People have asked me before how I got into wrestling, and I haven't a clue.

Is this the one where Jake was cheered heavily?
-
Jake Roberts vs. Randy Savage from SNME comes to mind. This would've been in 87 or so? They start heel vs. heel, but the crowd basically turns Jake during this match. It's a pretty damn good match too.

The way I see it, I wouldn't write off Jericho yet. If he can exact some kind of revenge, he can come out of this looking pretty good. I mean, he's an obnoxious heel who's been getting his as of late, much to the delight of the fans (it seems). Of course, in reality, he'll probably just be moved back to Smackdown and onto something else.
-
I do agree that it's a little odd to see him lose that many loser-leaves matches. His feud with DX has been the main program really on Raw for a while now, though. I mean, you could kind of consider him in the main event mix during that time.

Since it's kind of related, and I've been curious...what is the difference between Coliseum Video and WWF Home Video? Was Coliseum an actual separate company, or just the name WWF used for it's video releases?

As an old NWA fan, I never knew I wasn't supposed to be a WWE fan as well. And "Heady" days of the cable wars? The only thing "heady" was getting your head ready with weed to watch a lot of wrestling, especially the "History" of the Paul Heyman days. Seriously, what does that even mean? "I RESPECT the glory days of EC dub!" What? Bix, you read a book of this guy's "sophisticated" ramblings? Jesus, I'd be like Brando at the end of Apocolypse Now,..."the horror..." That quote is great. Yes, it's those idiots that sit there and entertain themselves with constant chanting that are the true "old school" fans. I mean, when I watched this week's TNA, the thing that stood out was the believability. I thought Angle/Styles may have been a shoot for the first few minutes. Do these idiots get paid for writing this crap?
-
Just one little thing to add... I don't think we should sleep on the hilarity of TNA's first match in this new "era" taking place inside a cage that you can't see through.

So, is Bruno Vince's last holdout? Warrior?

Lawler doing his fake laugh at Miller's shit made it even worse. I mean, there's crickets in the crowd, and Lawler was losing his shit on some of that. That was definitely one of the oddest Raw's I've seen. Not bad, not really good, just interesting.

Her lawyer makes a delicious tea.
-
Wow. I'd really like to see that match. Also, on Murdoch, his brainbuster should've totally been called "Miller Time".

I was surprised to hear him say he was shocked no kid was dressed as Mistico, I know he lives in Southern Cali, but were kids there really dressing up as Mistico? I was waiting for him to get giddy saying kids were dressed as Kimbo Slice and Randy Couture, but alas.... Surprisingly, I saw a John Cena at the Monsters of Folk concert here in Louisville this Halloween. I also saw 2 Hulk Hogans at a bar later that night. One Hogan was a girl.
