  1. Totally. I remember the way they pushed Bryan/HHH at Mania seemed so bizarre since HHH was positioned as the favourite even though Bryan had beaten everyone in his path for an entire year. It’s almost like wrestlers winning matches all the time is a good way for people to get behind them.
  2. It’s a shame that Santana and Ortiz are with Jericho because putting them back with Kingston would be great. I’m happy he’s signed but the roster is real big right now. Working on Dark every week is one thing but they could do with that second tv show. Also, I've seen people complaining that Darby is getting the shot but that absolutely has to play into the MJF story, surely?
  3. Oh, I wasn’t mad about it. It just genuinely shocked me, is all. I know they’re throwing shit at the wall with the women but what a deep cut.
  4. Also, was that Cameron of WWE fame in the segment with Nyla? Pretty brave of them to just assume everyone would have any idea who she was unless I’m missing a run she had somewhere
  5. I thought this was a pretty weak show from an in-ring standpoint but this is still an easy watch because the promos are so good and there's now enough good progression in angles week on week that it feels like it's going somewhere which is something they struggled with during the months between big shows originally. MJFs promo was fantastic and a pretty great way to kickstart a title feud and Cardona debuting is fine by me since I'd rather see him in Cody's group than Spears. From everything I've gathered, he's got a great mind for wrestling too so it's yet another creative body in there. Warhorse though, whoof. If Kingston was a home run, that was a total swing and a miss. I'd much rather see Cody work a 10 minute defense against one of the numbered Dark Order guys than whatever Warhorse was meant to be.
  6. Shit, you're right. Edited that. I like long-term booking but waiting that long to crown a champ is preposterous.
  7. The Living Legend Takes The Reins of GCW In a statement released earlier today, new pro-wrestling start-up, Gold Coast Wrestling announced that veteran superstar, Larry Zybysko, dubbed "The Living Legend" will be working for the company as their Commissioner. While not in sole charge of the wrestling aspects of the company, he will wield significant power and be the on-screen voice of the decision making committee moving forward. "As far as I'm concerned, there's only one man that can keep the peace amongst these behemoths in GCW and that man is The Living Legend" said Zybysko as he also detailed further plans for their championship scene, heading into the television debut. As GCW tape multiple shows in one night, there will be an 8-man tournament, running across multiple shows, leading to a huge main event at GCW Glory Days in September where the winner will become the inaugural GCW World Champion. While Larry was tight-lipped about specific participants, he was glad to confirm that Bill Goldberg would be one of the entrants. Goldberg was, as per, tight-lipped, simply being quoted as asking "Who's next?" in his quest for wrestling dominance. Amongst the gathered stars, young and old, are high-flying sensations like Rob Van Dam, Psicosis and Juventud Guerrera; powerful, wrestling machines like The Big Show, Scott Norton and Taz and long-time veterans such as The Villanos, Dutch Mantell and Japanese legend, Atsushi Onita. Zybysko has promised a "diverse and exciting" line-up, reflecting the "new direction for professional wrestling into the new millennium" "GCW Revolution" will come to the air soon, emanating from various cities across California but the company are "hopeful" for progression across the US, as well as strong working relationships with international promotions. "Onita is a new import for us but we're hoping that he isn't an outlier. Wrestling is more international and wide-reaching than ever and we want to represent that as best we can" Gold Coast Wrestling: Pro Wrestling with a Hollywood Smile
  8. It took me until about 4 years ago to piece together Bret Hart calls it the “Sharpshooter” because he’s “The Hitman” I felt profoundly stupid
  9. Putting Bryan and Edge on the writing team is a decent start to just letting the wrestlers come up with their own shit to drag them out of this mess. There are so many creative wrestling minds in that company, they need to loosen the straps and let them show it.
  10. I’ve only seen Kingston/Cody but I genuinely think it’s my favourite Dynamite match yet. Kingston is a total master; every wrestler on Earth needs to watch how he sold the leg early and sold it with more and more gusto as the damage built up. Cody was right there with him and fair play for taking the powerbomb spot to get the guy over. Give me Kingston going after Moxley or even the Kingston/Homicide team of violent, old, angry veteran bastards. Book it, Tony.
  11. Cody’s challenger is a “top independent wrestler” apparently so let the speculation run wild. I hope it’s La Parka
  12. I will say that a game with TEWs persistent world and EWRs interface would be a dream because everything surrounding the part where you have to actually play the game is fantastic in TEW. It’s just the slog of booking shows has barely been alleviated, even if you can change it to be slightly more EWR, it still doesn’t absolve the ridiculous UI that he won’t switch from.
  13. The ratings bounced back in a big way this week. Is it fair to say Moxley is the draw for AEW? Or was the two week drop based on everyone wanting to see Keith Lee get the title?
  14. I love Darby and Moxley’s weird respect for each other. They don’t beat you over the head with it but it’s there and it pretty much makes perfect sense that those two would get along with each other.
  15. Really looking forward to Sonny Kiss vs Cody. Sonny Kiss has looked really good in the empty(ish) arena shows and I’m sure Cody will work hard to make him look strong in defeat. I also sort of hope that Cage/Moxley heads backstage as a brawl. Not to mirror Moxley’s other defences but some of the highlights of the past few months of AEW have been the brawls through the arena’s bowels.
  16. Especially on the N64 which had some famously disastrous audio issues in some games.
  17. I loved the main event and was sort of hoping that they'd give Cassidy the win but he couldn't have really looked any better in defeat. Nyla and Vickie sounds fantastic but it's a shame we can't get Vickie Guerrero: Heat Machine in front of live crowds. But yikes, that opener was rough. Private Party have their match and everyone has to wrestle it. It works when the Luchas Bros do it but PP are certainly not the Lucha Bros yet. I'd be tempted to throw Hardy in and use them as a solely 6-man team to see if he can calm them down a bit. I wonder if they go with another mystery debut for Cody next week as it seems like Matt Cordona's no-compete will be up and he seems AEW-bound.
  18. Brian Pillman Jr is debuting on Dark this Tuesday.

  20. Fun two hours, even if I didn’t really think any match was particularly great. As said though, everyone on the show felt like a big deal and each champion was going up against a well-built, credible challenger which is all you can really ask for and nothing stood out as bad booking or a wasted segment. As for Taz, I actually like him in the role; he has good delivery and Cage needed a mouthpiece anyway. It seems like next week is a show where they have to get the booking decisions right. Do they give Cassidy the big win without the crowd? Do they pull the trigger on Cabana joining the Dark Order? Do they deliver on Nyla’s surprise? A few more variables that could pay off big if they get it right.
  21. I had no idea that they did a Britt Baker photo shoot and it’s hilarious.
  22. Luchasaurus needs to drop the contrived and awkward strike combos and work like a big man. Doing the moonsaults and shooting stars is fine but hitting weak spin kicks and bad, slow-mo punch combos subtracts from his matches and gimmick so much.
  23. Re-testing people with positive COVID results because they “don’t like” that result is beyond insane to me. I think that’s the biggest sign, amongst so many others, that this company has managed to cut itself off from reality in a legitimately damaging way. This is a good example of, despite craving that mainstream attention, them being so much better off on the fringe sectors of popularity because if this was anything else, they’d be getting slaughtered.
  24. Just want to throw out some love for Janela/Kiss as a team. Sonny Kiss has had a great year on Dark so I’m glad he’s getting to shine on Dynamite. The pair have good chemistry and Janela is way more palatable as a fired-up, hot tag babyface. SCU and Butcher and Blade are the two best opponents for FTR to lead in with and I’d be up for them getting a long match with QT and Dustin when QT recovers. That’d be so great. Fyter Fest looks like a pair of good shows but I do wonder if they have anything planned for Cage after this shot. Both Brodie and Archer felt and still feel directionless following their title shots so I wonder if they reignite the Darby Allin/Taz stuff.
  25. How much do we think the Hollywood trend of going with remakes and reboots ties into WWEs use of nostalgia acts through the mid/late-2010s?
