Loss Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 From Meltzer: -- It appears Juventud Guerrera has signed his WWE contract. He is telling friends he won't be doing jobs on his way out of Mexico because that would look bad for a WWE superstar. WWE is working on finishing his paperwork for his visa. I haven't seen Juvi in some time. How was he in TNA? Where has he been wrestling in Mexico, and has he been any good there? If he can even become 60% of what he was at his peak, he'll do fine in WWE, but if he's still got the bad attitude he was famous for a while back, and it looks like he might, then he's going to be in for a rough time. Juvi is a shining example of what can go wrong big success comes to a wrestler at a young age.
sek69 Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 I wonder if they'll have Rock come back to bury him in a promo again.
Loss Posted May 19, 2005 Author Report Posted May 19, 2005 Juvi would have gotten a fluke pin on Rock in 2000 at some point had he jumped around that time. Now, I'm not sure.
Mad Dog Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 He'll be gone by September. He'll do something stupid and get fired.
Guest Some Guy Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 I hope they keep him away from Australia. Last I saw Juvi was on a WWA PPV and he didn't look all that great.
Tim Cooke Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 He hasn't looked good at all. Still flashes of greatness but I have much more faith in Nicho/Psicosis in the WWE. But who knows what could happen if his head is on straight? But from the sounds of Mexico (he says he won't job on the way out and wants to be turned babyface because it was requested by the WWE which is false), it doesn't appear that way. Tim
Coffey Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 I miss Jamie Knoble. I don't understand why WWE keep hiring these high-flying cruisers, yet they let Knoble go. Knoble worked the "WWE style" better and didn't botch as many spots because he stays on the ground for the most part. Knoble & Nidia were the best part of wrestling for a long time and WWE fired them both.
Loss Posted May 19, 2005 Author Report Posted May 19, 2005 They had to let Knoble go, because he filed an insurance claim on an infection from a steroid shot. The door is open to bring him back in the future, but that was just to sidestep a potential PR nightmare.
Coffey Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 Yeah, it makes a lot more sense now. So what about Nidia? She moved to Raw for no reason, didn't do anything, then got fired. She wasn't a great wrestler but it's not like the women's division is really about wrestling anyway. She was a great character. So, why'd they drop her? Just cutting some costs? I think it makes Tough Enough look even worse. They still have Jackie Gayda and she's worse than Nidia was.
Loss Posted May 19, 2005 Author Report Posted May 19, 2005 Nidia was a little more ridiculous. Get this -- Stephanie McMahon had her taken off TV because she thought she was too fat. Yes. And then a little while later, they brought her to RAW and ribbed her constantly by putting her in the most unattractive outfits they could find before finally releasing her.
Guest Some Guy Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 From what I remember Stephanie hated her. She told her at one point that Nidia needed to lose weight. Appartenly Steph wanted to be the only pudgy, fake breasted, woman who facially can't compare to any of the other divas on SD!
Coffey Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 They why'd they bother to have her win Tough Enough? It doesn't make any sense.
Guest Some Guy Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 I think they thought that she was going to be a better worker than she ended up becoming. Did she win with Maven? Tough Enough so far has proven to be a total failure when it comes to producing talent. Jackie Gayda has big boobs, Maven sucks as a worker, Linda Miles got fired, Chris Harvard got injured, the little kid who does annoucing sucks. I suppose they are pretty high on Matt Morgan, though.
Guest Dorian Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 Tough Enough was simply so they could cash in on reality TV. I mean, the only TE winner who still has a job on the roster is Maven. That says enough about TE.
Guest Dorian Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 Oh yeah. Johnny Nitro's back on TV again, isn't he? Hopefully he'll stick around.
Mad Dog Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 Nothing really matters with Nidia. Steph decided that she didn't like her and that was it for her WWF career. Noble's too if you consider he got buried with her. Still flashes of greatness but I have much more faith in Nicho/Psicosis in the WWE. I wouldn't have much faith in Psicosis either. It's been really downhill for the guy since his last appearances in WCW. Though I will admit his weak looking offense won't be as exposed in the WWF as it was during the TNA X Division stuff.
Al Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 As far as Tough Enough goes, Maven looks worse because he is just a few years out of wrestling school. Very few wrestlers are on the big stage at that point in their careers. Chris Nowinski got injured, but that is hardly a knock on the show.
Mad Dog Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 Josh Matthews and Chris Nowinski are the only wrestlers worth a damn that Tough Enough produced. Josh was probably the best so of course they used him in a non-wrestling role. I've seen the TE3 guys on OVW stuff a few times and neither are that impressive. Then again no one in OVW is really that impressive.
Guest Some Guy Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 As far as Tough Enough goes, Maven looks worse because he is just a few years out of wrestling school. Very few wrestlers are on the big stage at that point in their careers. Chris Nowinski got injured, but that is hardly a knock on the show. Maven has done very little to improve and they stopped protecting him as soon as the second TE season ended and they had new toys to play with. Maven seems to have concentrated on learning new and inovative ways to stick a needle in his ass rather than learning to work. I realize that he is still green, but he is now 4 years into the business and has had the oppurtunity to work with some very good wrestlers. Eventually you have to fish or cut bait and I think it's about time to cut bait with Maven. Kurt Angle, Randy Orton, Brock Lesnar, Shelton Benjiman, and several others were light years ahead of Maven with equal or less experience. Maven reminds me of John Cena, minus all the charisma.
Resident Evil Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 Nidia was a little more ridiculous. Get this -- Stephanie McMahon had her taken off TV because she thought she was too fat. Yes. And then a little while later, they brought her to RAW and ribbed her constantly by putting her in the most unattractive outfits they could find before finally releasing her. So that's really true? I saw Nidia live managing Noble and she was the furthest thing away from fat that you can imagine.
Coffey Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 I actually like Maven. He seems to try hard. That counts for a lot. Not only that but now he has a gimmick and a finisher. He's still young and green but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he turned into something. To be honest, he's usually one of the bright points for me on Raw. I like watching him develop.
The Thread Killer Posted May 19, 2005 Report Posted May 19, 2005 Maven seems to have concentrated on learning new and inovative ways to stick a needle in his ass rather than learning to work. Excellent, that actually made me laugh out loud. I saw Juvi in the Super X Cup tournament in TNA last year, and some of his work in NOAH. He looked okay, but not as good as he was in WCW. I think he has tried to "bulk up" as well and that has reduced his speed and mobility in my opinion.
