Short, but action-packed TV match sees Pritchard win the Southern title. Because the match was impromptu, Christopher protests the decision since there was no contract signed for the match. After whining enough, Christopher finally gets his way, then attacks Pritchard, and Eddie Marlin bumps for him to boot!

Pritchard wins the Southern title in a quick, fun match. Too short for greatness but what we got was a very good tv match. Afterwards Christopher claims it wasn't a title match and eventually retains because no contract was signed. He then lays out Pritchard with the belt. Fun angle.

Prichard shows off a nasty cut as a result of the Moondogs attack earlier. Christopher eventually answers Prichard's insults with an impromptu challenge. Christopher focuses on the cuts but eats a backslide for the pin. Prichard celebrates with the belts to Christopher's protestations. Eddie Marlin disagrees at first, but eventually another USWA suit gets him to change his mind. Christopher gets his Southern title back and promptly takes advantage of having the belt back to clobber Prichard with it. He shoves Eddie Marlin to the floor to boot.

Naturally this sets up a title rematch at the MSC. Fun, effective set-up for the arena card.

Mike called this a bait-and-switch, but I actually thought this was fairly realistic. As obnoxious as he is, Brian had a point; he didn't sign to defend the belt twice in one day, so the second match should be non-title. Of course, Eddie Marlin could have ruled that this should have been a continuation of the original match that was stopped when the Dogs interfered, but then what would they have done for a Southern title match at the MSC?

It shows how much they thought of Brian that he's allowed to be in the promotion's number two feud (such as it is) at such a young age, and he's shown in what we've seen that he's ready for it. He even gets to push Eddie around, which not even his dad did very often. It's a shame that Dr. Tom would be full-time in SMW within a few weeks, as he would have been a perfect opponent for Brian to learn from during a long-term program.

I thought Dr. Tom's promo was a bit too heelish, although I understand that he was supposed to be upset by the Dogs' attack and contemptuous of Brian as an opponent. Maybe he got carried away a bit and forgot which side of Tennessee he was on.

Good fired up (and yes, slightly heelish) promo from Pritchard.  Predictable that we get the ending we did.  If I were a bookie I'd be putting pretty long odds on Pritchard winning that title at MSC.
