Daisuke Ikeda & Mohammed Yone & Gran Naniwa vs Yuki Ishikawa & Ikuto Hidaka & Carl Greco (BattlARTS 05/10/98)

- This could drop off

I'm the opposite, this would be in my must have pile, thought it was a great match

Katsumi Usuda vs Ryuji Yamakawa (BattlARTS 08/29/98)

Easily say cut this. It wasn't bad but nowhear near yearbook worthy

Hisakatsu Oya vs Greg Valentine (BattlARTS B-Cup 10/05/98)

Bob Backlund vs Daisuke Ikeda (BattlARTS B-Cup 10/05/98)

I'd borderline say cut on these too. They're both good solid/fun matches that I like a lot but there's nothing outstanding about either beyond having the "hey neat Backlund & Greg Valentine in Battlarts" curiosity factor and for Backlund he has much better matches thear worthy of inclusion.

Great Sasuke vs Victor Krueger (BattlARTS B-Cup 10/23/98)

Possibly the worst Battlarts match i've ever seen

Bob Backlund vs Great Sasuke (BattlARTS B-Cup 11/23/98)

Another that falls under the catagory of decent match with not really much going for it besides "wow, how weird these 2 wrestled each other"

I'm not sure I've ever actually seen Yamakawa vs Usuda but it feels like something that should be on here based solely on how interesting it is conceptually as the climax of a shoot style vs death match feud. With barbed wire kick pads!

as the climax of a shoot style vs death match feud

It's not even the climax, Matsunaga vs Battlarts is which is on my list of greatest pro wrestling ever.

With barbed wire kick pads!

A nice moment but it sounds cooler on paper then it actually was.

A couple of the matches aired on Asahi. I've only seen the commercial clipped version of Wagner/Ohtani, which is fun but nothing essential. The Samurai TV show wasn't that much longer than an episode of World Pro Wrestling, but it may have fuller versions of the matches. That Sendai tag, for example, only 2:40 aired on WPW. You'd have to think more of it aired on Samurai TV.

Here is all the 1998 US indy stuff that was on the DVDVR list or made a Schneider comp. Is this everything that should be considered? I'm guessing all of this won't go on, but I want to make sure we have a good starting point.

Pretty much all the OMEGA i'd include

Robert Thompson vs Erin O'Grady (APW 07/98)

Never seen but knowing those 2 I don't doubt it was atleast very good. Thompson is high on the list of lost great workers from the late 90's/early 2000's. The story goes that Heyman offered to bring him in to ECW be a part of the Gangstas but Thompson didn't want to move his family/be away from them (I forget). He never had the look to be on WWF & WCWs radar either and he was starting to wind down just as the post ROH super indy boom hit so he never was able to get the fame he deserved outside of the west coast and those that followed the sceen back then.

Christopher Daniels vs Suicide Kid (APW 08/07/98)

Real good match but i'd cut it because there's better stuff out thear.

From APW i'd include this one for sure

9/12/1998 Christopher Daniels & Micael Modest vs Erin O Grady & Suicde Kid

This is famous for being the match they aired parts of during Beyond the Mat but even without that it was a great match that i'd reccomend.

2/14/1998 Reckless Youth vs Devon Storm

Just a great great match & a perfect representation of the indy style at the time. No clue what fed it's from other then it was an NWA show so I dunno if that'll be much help when it comes to finding a copy but if you can i'd include it for sure.

Hisakatsu Oya vs Jado (Fuyuki-Gun Tokyo 02/19/98) - Cut, solid match, nothing special, only 6 mins airs.

Yukihiro Kanemura & Mr. Gannosuke vs Koji Nakagawa & Tetsuhiro Kuroda (Fuyuki-Gun Tokyo 02/19/98) - Finish for sure, although it's short so i'd try to keep the whole thing. The important part is the big angle at the end with Go-Ito.

Hayabusa vs Ricky Fuyuki (Fuyuki-Gun Tokyo 02/19/98) - Lumberjack match, really good, keep if there's room.

Masato Tanaka & Hisakatsu Oya vs Hayabusa & Ricky Fuyuki (ZEN Chiba 02/13/98) - Really good match but something i'd reccomend more for the additional viewing thread then the yearbook proper.

Atsushi Onita, Koji Nakagawa & Tetsuhiro Kuroda vs Yukihiro Kanemura, Gado & Mr. Gannosuke (ZEN Chiba 02/13/98) - Good match and the angle at the end with Go-Ito here sets up the payoff on the 2/19 show. Keep.

The big feud at the time was FMW home team vs Atsushi Onita's ZEN group vs The recently formed Team No Respect so that's how these offshoot shows came about (or atleast ZEN's, Fuyuki was occasionally running his own side stuff anyways)

2/25/1998 Mima Shimoda & Etsuko Mita vs Kyoko Inoue & Genki Misae

AJW

Momoe Nakanishi vs Kumiko Maekawa (AJW 03/01/98)

Shinobu Kandori vs Yumiko Hotta (AJW 03/21/98) (Finish only)

Manami Toyota vs Shinobu Kandori (AJW 08/23/98)

Spot on with these.

JWP

Devil Masami & Hikari Fukuoka vs Manami Toyota & Kaoru Ito (JWP 01/23/98)

Hikari Fukuoka & Tomoko Kuzumi vs Devil Masami & Cutie Suzuki (JWP 06/14/98)

Mayumi Ozaki & Reiko Amano vs Dynamite Kansai & Tomoko Miyaguchi (JWP 07/31/98)

Don't like the first one at all. Haven't seen the other two. I don't know if you've watched them? Just looked at Punq's list and he rated them both badly. I would recommend the following 3 matches instead:

1/11/1998 Chikayo Nagashima & Mayumi Ozaki vs Dynamite Kansai & Cuty Suzuki

2/11/1998 Manami Toyota & Kaoru Ito vs Hikari Fukuoka & Tomoko Kuzumi

3/6/1998 Hikari Fukuoka vs Tomoko Kuzumi

ARSION

Yumi Fukawa vs Candy Okutsu (ARSION Grand Opening 02/18/98)

Aja Kong vs Michiko Omukai (ARSION Grand Opening 02/18/98)

Yumi Fukawa vs Michiko Omukai (ARSION Starlet 04/11/98)

Candy Okutsu vs Michiko Futagami (ARSION Starlet 04/17/98)

Mariko Yoshida vs Mikiko Futagami (ARSION 05/05/98)

Aja Kong vs Mariko Yoshida (ARSION 06/21/98)

Rie Tamada & Hiromi Yagi vs Michiko Omukai & Yumi Fukawa (ARSION 12/18/98)

Mariko Yoshida vs Candy Okutsu (ARSION 12/18/98)

Not stuff I've watched for ages. Looks fine.

JD'

Lioness Asuka vs Jaguar Yokota (Jd' 01/11/98)

Jaguar Yokota & Yoko Kosugi vs Lioness Asuka & The Bloody (Jd' 02/02/98)

Lioness Asuka vs Kyoko Inoue (Jd' 04/26/98)

Jaguar Yokota & Yuko Kosugi vs Lioness Asuka & The Bloody (Jd' 07/05/98)

Didn't like the 1st match here. There are a couple of strong secondary matches on the other shows here:

2/2 Megumi Yabushita & Sumie Sakai vs Momoe Nakanishi & Nanae Takahashi

7/5 Sumie Sakai vs Hiromi Yagi

NEO

1/9/1998 Mima Shimoda, Etsuko Mita & Saya Endo vs Kyoko Inoue, Chapparita Asari & Yoshiko Tamura

2/15/1998 Hikari Fukuoka vs Kyoko Inoue

2/25/1998 Mima Shimoda & Etsuko Mita vs Kyoko Inoue & Genki Misae

I wouldn't touch either of these LCO matches. They have an 8 woman elimination match on the 2/15 show which is better than both, though not must see. Plus go with the 5/6 match Flik recommended.

LLPW

2/15/1998 Shinobu Kandori, Rumi Kazama & Yasha Kurenai vs Eagle Sawai, Michiko Nagashima & Sayori Okino

Yep this is good.

AJW

12/26/1998 Mima Shimoda, Etsuko Mita & Kyoko Inoue vs Manami Toyota, Yumiko Hotta & Takako Inoue

From the Jaguar Yokota retirement show rather than AJW. Decent though not essential.

We've done a lot of the work on the '98 set in parallel to '97. While this is still at least a few months away, I want to turn my attention here, so if anyone has anything else to add, please do so. The sooner, the better would be great so I can at least finalize a listing. :)

I Would definitely second the Willow the Wisp vs Kid Dynamo match that was on Music City Wrestling that one night. I remember, vividly, watching MCW every Tuesday on some shitbird station in Mt. Carmel, Illinois and just being BLOWN AWAY by this one.
