Loss
Well, it starts in 45 minutes. How the hell are they going to top the emotional rollercoaster that was last night's PPV? Will they acknowledge it at all? As Meltzer has said, between the fallout from One Night Stand, Cena's first RAW match, the next draftee on RAW and Steve Austin's appearance, RAW should be pretty newsworthy tonight. Tonight, and over the next few months, we may get a feel for exactly what Vince thought of the show last night, because if he was terribly impressed by it, we'll see a few changes in the product. Only match announced thus far is Cena/Jericho v Christian/Tomko, which has potential to either further the Cena/Christian feud, or they may use this as a chance to complete Jericho's heel turn and set up a feud with Cena there. Lots of questions, RAW should provide at least a few answers.
Guest Some Guy
I think they need to go with Cena and Christian before moving Cena to Jericho. If last week is any indication then Cena and Christian's mic work against one another will be gold.
Guest Dazed
For everything I loved last night, there's something to hate tonight. For everything I hated last night, there's something to hate tonight. I have no faith in Raw any more. ECW had me interested, excited and genuinely with no idea what would happen. I have no faith in anything other than HHH / Batista and Stone Cold being strongly put over. Let's be honest, nothing is going to change. Tyson Tomko, who has no reason to be on TV at all (other than his comic timing) is main eventing, for god's sake! Lessons won't be learned from ECW, which include that the audience shouldn't be insulted or underestimated, and that the commentary makes a huge difference. The people who can make those changes are too deep in Vince's pockets. There's a few directions they can go, you are right, but will any of them ultimately matter? goodhelmet
I could be wrong but I just caught the tail end of the Jericho-Cena segment and that was the most passion I have seen exhibited by the fans in a long time. I wish this damn lottery was out of the way so we could actually know what direction this company is going in though.
Al
And this Jericho/Cena segment is great.
Mad Dog
Looks like Smackdown is going to be lucky to have a title let alone any main eventers by the way this is going.
Guest Dazed
Three times tonight, I sat down determined to watch Raw, and three times I got fed up and switched off. The first was the right decision; I saw Stone Cold come out, and managed to miss him putting himself over for ages and what I've heard (although I'm willing to be corrected, but really I don't give a shit) was a poor match for the IC. The second was a mistake; I missed the whole Jericho / Cena deal. I have no idea why Xian would accept the triple threat match, when he can lose without losing. Silly. Third was the Angle promo. It doesn't matter what he says because HHH is right: It is "[his] show". Other things... What's the point of booking Kane (who's in a huge storyline) against a jobber like one-of-La-Resistance (who's doing nothing). Who do you think will win? Ditto Vis, who's getting a push (albeit hilarious) going against Maven. I love how the Diva Search theme is something like "be who you want", when "who you want" actually means "another fake chested, flat stomached, long legged, shiny haired, white toothed woman who doesn't mind showing her body off." Also, didn't they learn ANYTHING from last year's search? Fucking really. Raw has way too many commercials. It makes the show too disjointed, and the 20 second segments really hurt things. Mad Dog
They didn't learn a year from last year's Diva Search. The fans totally rejected it but since Vince thinks it's a good idea you'll get one every year and every year it'll suck up lots of time because the federation is booked to entertain Vince McMahon and no one else. Guest teke184
Hrm... maybe Kane's jobber status means he's getting a trade to Smackdown. They already tried to shit all over Christian when they thought he was going to SD to feud with Cena, although they look fucking stupid now that Cena's coming to RAW. Guest Dazed
Oh yeah, two more things. Chris Masters. He comes out to no heat. He talks a bit of shit, then gets his ass kicked by someone-random-but-with-obviously-no-chance, and locks in the Masterlock. That was a 15 minute segment tonight, to put over a FULL FUCKING NELSON. People still aren't buying him or the move, and no amount of repetition is going to make a bit of difference. Hassan... nobody gives a fuck about his undefeated streak. Really. It's not like it's Goldbergian, where he's destroying everyone, or the HTM, where it's lucky as hell. It's just... happening. Much like the rest of Raw. Mad Dog
I noticed that Triple H and Viscera had zero heat when they came out tonight as well. I think I heard the collective eye roll from the audience when it was clear that Triple H was going to get involved with the new arrival. Chris Masters is just bad all around. The challenge was just a doomed concept. The first strike against it is he isn't offering near enough money to interest someone to come into the ring and get beaten up. It's straight out of the 70s and 80s when he was carrying around $1000 like it was some grand some of money. Add to that that he's nothing special build wise and he's off to a bad start. I won't even go into how a full nelson is almost always a surefire way to be a failure as a wrestler.
Guest WidowsPeak
That was a horrible Raw even with Kurt Angle.
Strummer
so Vengeance has HHH v Batista Kane v Edge Cena v Jericho v Christian HBK v Angle I would think they will add Benjamin v Hassan or something like that. I would think this show will do a pretty good number

I think Masters has become example #200 of how to fuck up a prospect from OVW by not having an idea BEFORE calling them up. Coffey
That was a very bad episode of Raw. I'm glad that Angle is on Raw again, I suppose, but that was a very lackluster way to end the show. Triple H seemed to be shoved down our throats more than usual this week. It was ridiculous. Glad to see WWE capitalizing on that Victoria heel turn and storyline. Did WWE just up and abort Jericho's not-giving-a-shit angle? Suddenly he wants to impress Bischoff and get a title shot? *snuh?*
Loss
I could be wrong but I just caught the tail end of the Jericho-Cena segment and that was the most passion I have seen exhibited by the fans in a long time. The difference in Jericho's output when he's in a top angle and when he's going nowhere in the midcard has always been pretty substantial. He was feeling it last night, despite the fact that his turn came out of nowhere, it totally contradicted the direction they were going with him, it weakened the Cena/Christian issue and the portrayal of the whole thing on the show in the big picture only served to make Cena look like a guy who wastes his time feuding with midcarders while the real stars are HHH, Batista, Angle and Michaels. goodhelmet
It also happened to be the only segment I saw since I was in between tape recording at that time. Maybe I missed the big picture because I was genuinely hyped for that segment. With that said, the company is such a jumbled mess, I am more interested in what they are going to do match-wise than any absurd angle they are running. Loss
But yeah, Jericho/Cena had more heat than anything on the show, and the crowd bought into Jericho's heel turn immediately. Chris was on a roll last night, and he needs to wet his hair like that every week, because it makes it less obvious that he has such a stupid haircut. sek69
Well it's standard WWE policy that all blond male canadian heels have to wet their hair.
Loss
Also, what really sucks about Lita (make the obvious jokes) is that when Trish returns, she'll either be the #2 heel or she'll have to abort the character she's worked so hard on getting over and turn face again. Marty
But yeah, Jericho/Cena had more heat than anything on the show I thought the staredown with Helmsley was the only thing that got anything along the lines of "noticeable heat". I mean, it wasn't along the lines of Jericho/Cena, but it's nice to see the fans remembering history and all. It'd almost be a nice way to headline another WrestleMania were it not for the fact that we'd know who'd go over. The crowd did suck last night, albeit between two big man squashes, an average tag match that led to a much-needed heel turn, an overly long main event promo, among other things, they were fed too much. Still, they did contend quite nicely with the WrestleMania 21 Los Angeles crowd.

Loss
I think that comes down to people just wanting Jericho to be more involved in the show, and they'll take it however they can get it. There was a time when I would have said turning him heel was a mistake, but that was when I thought there was a chance he'd become the champ and top babyface. They're never going to let him reach his full potential, so better to put him in the role in which he's far more natural and entertaining.

I think it's possible that Lita is hated enough that anyone who opposes her will be a babyface. Like it or not, she was the missing ingredient Edge needed. sek69
Angle impressed me how he went from heel (his entrance) to face (bringing up Stephanie) to heel again (bashing Batista) in one promo without missing a beat. Say what you will about his workrate, but that was some Rock-like crowd manipulation last night.
