Loss
Relatively short, fast-paced match (less than half as long as Hayabusa/Oya), which works best for Gladiator's highspot style. Hayabusa shows his versatility on this yearbook in facing three opponents who work pretty differently from each other -- Onita, Oya and Gladiator -- and having solid, very different matches with each of them. This was heavyweight high-flying done really well. Hayabusa's neck position on that shooting star press looked really nasty. Awesome finishes with a top rope Liger bomb, which was quite the spot. Fun.
FLIK
Yeah, Hayabusa was always Awesome's best opponent. I actually think the 3rd of the 3 matches they had in 95 was their best ever whear they went about 25 mins or so. It wasn't his go to type of match by far but when the occasion called for it Awesome could go on the mat and build a slower paced more dramatic style match quite well. Hayabusa's neck position on that shooting star press looked really nasty Cracked vetebrae & a busted lip He didn't do the SSP too much after that and eventually droped it all together. If you're refering to the final of the tournament, I agree it was their best. But Hayabusa & Gradiator always clicked.
Tim Evans
This was alright but I'm still not convinced about Hayabusa. That Awesome bomb from the top rope was nasty. I thought Awesome's best opponent was Tanaka?
FLIK
I thought Awesome's best opponent was Tanaka? I prefer the Hayabusa series since it was more well rounded, you got all the big action & giant bumps like you did in the Tanaka matches but you also got better build & story telling in their bigger matches. Do love the Awesome/Tanaka series tho but yeah, they weren't either's best opponent imo.
PeteF3
Sort of junk food for the wrestling mind. There's not much of a story, but there are a lot of "wow" spots and until that unpleasantness with the SSP, they all hit. Even routine moves like Awesome's running splash are done with some oomph. I'm not sold that Hayabusa has put it together enough to be the ace of a promotion at this point, but he was also thrown into a tough spot.
