I wonder how much of that promo Jon Stewart came up with himself. It almost seemed to have too much continuity and thought put into it for it to have come from their normal writing crew. But I'm happy for Jon, he is obviously a long time fan and I'm sure that was awesome for him.

If they did script that promo it is kind of sad they waited until a celebrity to show up to put some actual solid angle booking and history in it. some of the things Stewart mentioned the WWE has been trying to get people to forget for months

Never mind the fact that he has one of the more convincing nut shots in years. Hell at first I thought he actually kick him in the balls :P

Never thought I would be uncomfortable watching a Luke Harper vs Daniel Bryan match but boy that was it. Luke was dropping him on his neck and shoulder way too much in that match. If he is going to be that reckless with his body then a ladder match with guys like Ambrose, Ziggler, and Harper is not a good idea

I don't understand Triple H constantly taking shots at "internet fans." I mean, the entirety of RAW has a hashtag in the top left hand corner. WWE shills WWE.com & the WWE app the entirety of the show. Every wrestler that comes out has a Twitter handle. You need the internet to watch the WWE Network.

It's just so stupid.

Like, does he think "the internet" is still something that only a handful of people have? Their entire viewing audience is on the internet. Everyone with a cell phone has the internet.

When they say "internet fans", they obviously mean the small percent of fans who are on message boards, subscribe to the Observer, do podcasts, you know...us.

That whole segment with Booker was amazing in an armchair psychology sort of way. After the last few weeks of fan reaction capped off by his wife getting owned on Twitter, that was pretty much Hunter verbally swinging his dick in everyone's face.

this company seems like an absolute mess right now. I have no idea why Rollins is being pushed as the biggest star in the promotion while Reigns is an afterthought yet is supposed to be the guy. I'm not complaining about that it's just strange. This show was entertaining but mania seems like such non issue right now. Does anymore really care about the card?

That was all Vince's words though just with Trips as the mouthpiece since Vince personally writes his and Steph's promos now. He does a great job of conveying Vince's feelings.

It is kind of funny how on the same show that HHH is going off about internet fans, Jon Stewart comes out and cuts probably the best promo on the show and he's nothing but a hardcore fan. Yes, obviously he is an entertainer but the meat of his promo comes from him being a long time fan that remembers the details and the backstory. Something the own company can't be bothered with and actively wants to avoid.

Funny isn't it how both details and backstory can make a promo flow effortlessly. Shocking I tell you...

Honestly a lot of the show came off as them not 100% certain Brock will be at WM now after the blowup, and seem to be intentionally leaving themselves an opening to change the main event if they need to.

Brock isn't going to breach his contract this close to being done. That said, I wouldn't put it past Vince to jump the gun and change the main event just because...

Perhaps they are shrewdly trying the old "Brock Lesnar is going to leave without jobbing the belt!" work to get people to cheer Roman at Mania. Convince people that Brock isn't going to lose the belt at Mania and people will pop for the title change. I already have the perfect match finish for that scenario but they'll have to pay me first :)

do people really think Jon Stewart writes his own shit? He probably had his Daily Show writing team help him out with the promo. I see people praising guys like Stewart, Colbert and Oliver all the time for their great monologues and completely ignoring the fact that they have whole teams of writers.

yeah it's totally beyond the realm of imagination that paid interns could look up information about WWE wrestlers and storylines on wikipedia and youtube. Or that the company that is paying him to do this segment might have given him some backstory to work with.

He's clearly a wrestling fan, as evidenced by him trying to talk about The Shield breakup on the Daily Show after it happened and no one else giving a shit. I don't know why he would need to rely on an intern who doesn't care looking up things on youtube for him when he already watched this stuff on TV the first time.

Regardless of who wrote it, point seems to be more that is was delivered really well, and in its content/intent was completely different from modern WWE promos. If the whole thing was written by Vince and/or his writers, then kudos to them. Makes you wonder why they don't write that well all the time. Ditto "Daily Show interns."

Either way it begs the question: why doesn't WWE like to acknowledge recent storyline continuity/history in its promos, yet is still obsessed with WCW, Montreal, Bischoff, Turner, Hogan and other horseshit that no one under 30 cares about? Because they are the shadows that Vince can't stop boxing. The constant message is that wrestling was better and more interesting/important 18 years ago that it is today. Which happens to be true, as a self-fulfilling prophecy. Because they can't let it go, and they don't love their new boyfriend the way they loved Stone Cold.

Such a weird segment when you have arguably the most hated heel on the roster threatening to leave the company ace off the biggest show of the year, and then playing to the fans when they agree with her.

If nothing else, that segment should remove any lingering doubts over whether Stephanie is stroking her ego by playing the cool heel.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if there were Daily Show writers with legit wrestling knowledge. The Colbert Report, which draws from the same pool of writers, referenced El Hijo del Santo and Los Gringos Locos a few years ago.
