Stiva Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 Enjoyed that much more than the two Taker/HHH matches and Punk being King Dick of the universe helped a lot. Heyman on the outside was incredible, Punk's facials as he couldn't keep Taker down were awesome, as well as his shit-eating grin after hitting old-school. Crazy fun match and it's great seeing Taker's opponents come up with ways to make the near falls believable year after year. Punk got way closer than HHH IMO, especially with the urn shot. Crowd seemed to genuinely believe it was finished for a second. Quote
Childs Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 Really enjoyed Punk juggling the urn and then playing stick and move early. And how can you not pop for him countering old school and then doing it himself? Whole match was well put together, though I'm not sure the Punk elbow spot came off as impressively as it should've considering how nutty it was. Strike exchange at the end felt genuinely intense rather than pro forma. The urn shot led to a nifty nearfall. Excellent Wrestlemania match, better than it had any right to be. Quote
Exposer Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 Did Undertaker sell as much for Punk as he did Michaels and HHH? Just curious. Not quite, I don't think. He did sell but not as much as he did for his buddies. Quote
Matt D Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 I'm also generally okay with the lack of arm selling by Taker because it was a containment segment, mainly. This felt a little more like an Edge vs Taker match to me than HHH or HBK vs Taker but when they were doing the forearms on their knees, it felt like Punk did belong in there with him so that was good I guess. The throat-cut was pretty ridiculous though. Quote
anarchistxx Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 I was surprised how much Undertaker did sell. He put Punk across as a real top guy, and he got to kick out of the tombstone. He didn't give as much as he does in the 'Legend' matches, but that is to be expected. The match was harmed by the lack of any suspense, since we knew who was winning, but as Dylan said it worked well as a standalone big event match. A good example of WWE main event style actually, had pretty much everything you might expect from the table spot to the finisher kick outs etc. Paced exactly how you would expect, worked exactly how you'd expect. Exposer Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 Yeah, I mean he sold for all of Punk's stuff. I do get why he sold more in the "Legends" matches too. Quote
Dylan Waco Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 Don't want to come across as underselling Punk v. Taker because I basically agree with all the positive comments people have made in this thread. I thought it fucking smoked the last two Taker Mania matches and I may have even liked it better then the second of the Michaels matches. Quote
Childs Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 Lot of time left for only two big matches. Â Taker sold perfectly well for Punk. Given the context, I'm not sure that match could have been much better. Quote
anarchistxx Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 Got a feeling this might be a bit of a train wreck. Looks like they will go thirty minutes, and I'm guessing it will be HHH main event epic style rather than bloody brawl. Quote

Given the context, I'm not sure that match could have been much better. Â It was absolutely as good as it possibly could have been, with the minor qualifier that I thought Punk was up to early on the tombstone and I thought some of the reversals looked a bit cooperative. Marty Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 Lesnar looks even more badass in a toque. Quote
Matt D Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 Heyman managing the heels in the #2 and #3 matches is kind of cool. It's like Heenan having Rude and Andre at Wrestlemania V kind of. Best thing about Brock is his awesomely mangled ears. Quote
Marty Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 Yeah, I mean he sold for all of Punk's stuff. I do get why he sold more in the "Legends" matches too. I have terrible short term memory, but is it just me, or was Punk's finisher pretty well protected? Quote
Marty Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 What the hell was that powder on HHH's belly? I thought he was drug free? Quote
Childs Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 For all your Henrys and Rybacks and whomevers, Lesnar is definitely the scariest looking dude on this show. Quote
Matt D Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 What the hell was that powder on HHH's belly? I thought he was drug free? It's the Blow Away Diet. Quote
Marty Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 Kinda wished this match went on last; there'd be more of a chance Lesnar goes over so HHH could have his Shawn WM26 bit. Quote
Marty Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 What the hell was that powder on HHH's belly? I thought he was drug free? It's the Blow Away Diet. Â Â Will that help Buddy Rose's level of influence for the WON HOF? Quote
Matt D Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 Heyman's great on the outside. Michaels is more like Kelly Kelly wearing a hat. Quote
anarchistxx Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 I was wrong about the structure, but there is no heat whatsoever for this match. HHH isn't nearly as over as a face as he thinks he is. Lesnar is looking cool as ever though, even if I think it is going to be a repeat of the Cena match e.g. he kills him for twenty minutes then jobs to a pedigree. Quote
Stiva Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 Heyman's great on the outside. Michaels is more like Kelly Kelly wearing a hat. That's incredible. HHH is so fucking shitty, goddamn. Michaels is selling concern for his friend like he's watching an eBay auction get too expensive too quickly. Quote
Dylan Waco Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 God fuck that match to eternal hell. That was just about everything I feared it would be magnified by a thousand. Just awful. Quote

Exposer Posted April 8, 2013 Report Posted April 8, 2013 HHH vs. Lesnar Man, this was uninteresting as all get out till the last few minutes. I did love Brock busting Shawn's face up. I would have been incredibly pissed if HHH had won with the kimura lock. Anyways, this bored me to tears and the finish was utterly ridiculous and stupid. The crowd only cared a little bit too which was hilarious. Quote
goodhelmet Posted April 8, 2013 Author Report Posted April 8, 2013 Brock Lesnar vs. HHH - Man, there was something perversely entertaining in watching Brock Lesnar destroy HHH to a dead silent crowd. The last few minutes were dramatic but fuck HHH. Quote
