goodhelmet Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 Post your thoughts here during the show. Chris Jericho vs. Fandango Kofi Kingston vs. Dean Ambrose Team Hell NO vs. Reigns & Rollins (Tornado Tag) Sheamus vs. Mark Henry (Strap Match) Randy Orton vs. Big Show (Extreme Rules Match) Alberto Del Rio vs. Jack Swagger (I Quit) HHH vs. Brock Lesnar (Cage Match) John Cena vs. Ryback (Last Man Standing)
KrisZ Posted May 19, 2013 Report Posted May 19, 2013 Word on Twitter is they are debuting a new cage tonight for the Trips/Brock match
goodhelmet Posted May 20, 2013 Author Report Posted May 20, 2013 Will the new cage give HHH a personality? Also, caught the ending of the Miz-Cody match right after Miz seemed to trip over his own two feet. Miz wins with the figure-four.
Bix Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 From photos in the arena it's just a different version of the regular chain link cage. Three panels per side when the old one had two.
Dylan Waco Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 Fandago v. Jericho was okay. I didn't hate it, but it felt really by the book, almost like both guys were horrified to even attempt anything different. Hard to get a real feel for it because my stream is unbelievably bad
Exposer Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 Jericho vs. Fandango This was fine. There were a couple of lousy screw ups but otherwise this was a pretty decent opener. I missed some of the pre-show Miz-Rhodes match but it looked fine for what it was.
soup23 Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 Miz - Rhodes was pretty fun with some body control work from Cody. Not bad for 5 minutes. Jericho vs. Fandango was pretty good and I liked the finish with Johnny Curtis trying to overcompensate and getting caught.
goodhelmet Posted May 20, 2013 Author Report Posted May 20, 2013 Fandango vs. Jericho - I don't care about either of these guys so it was hard for me to maintain interest.
KrisZ Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 The one thing tonight proved is that Johnny Curtis isn't the worker that his gimmick needed to get over.
Dylan Waco Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 Hey Ambrose won, that was cool. First part of the match was completely unwatchable thanks to my fucking POS stream, but the ending run seemed good
soup23 Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 Ambrose vs. Kofi - Kofi annoyed the hell out of me tonight with his jumpy offense but the booking went about as good as possible so no complaints here.
Exposer Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 Ambrose vs. Kofi This was pretty good. Ambrose looked really good and I loved him pulling out the crossface chickenwing and the double underhook off the turnbuckles. The finish was well done too.
anarchistxx Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 Fantastic little match - exactly how the second match on the card should be worked, the perfect style but didn't compensate on quality. The super underhook suplex looked amazing. Ambrose was ridiculously over, massive ovation when he got the pin, one of the biggest pops I've heard in the last year. If things carry on as they are he should be the world champion in the next twelve months.
Badlittlekitten Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 Brilliant stuff. Ambrose was tremendous in that match. A true villain.
goodhelmet Posted May 20, 2013 Author Report Posted May 20, 2013 Kofi vs. Dean - One thing nobody mentioned is that they didn't do the fake finisher reversal spots that annoyed me in the Miz match. Don't know if I like Ambrose's finisher but it was the right finish.
Matt D Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 The eventual Shield depush is going to be nasty.
goodhelmet Posted May 20, 2013 Author Report Posted May 20, 2013 Mark Henry vs. Sheamus - Both guys had great strategy early on with Henry tying up Sheamus's feet and then Sheamus trying to hit the turnbuckles from the apron. Loved the tease early on where I thought they were going to end it early when Sheamus was on Henry's shoulders. Wanted to see Henry go over but the ending was pretty well done so no complaints. Great stuff for the short amount of time they were in there.
Dylan Waco Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 Mark Henry is pretty clearly back to being WWE's Meng after that match. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted.
soup23 Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 Sheamus vs. henry - some interesting strategy with the strap and I liked Sheamus walking on the outside. Not enough strap shots though and I don't like Sheamus winning. Pretty good match but a tad disappointing overall.
Exposer Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 Sheamus vs. Mark Henry - Strap Match This was okay. I wanted more stiff strap beatings. They tried too much stuff in so little time too. There was some creativity but it wasn't to be really.
KrisZ Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 Sheamus/Mark clear indication of the WWE slotting
goodhelmet Posted May 20, 2013 Author Report Posted May 20, 2013 Kris, I think that is overreacting. Henry won his Wrestlemania match against this month's PPV headliner. Sheamus lost his tag with Orton and Show. At worst, it is 50/50 booking which also sucks.
Matt D Posted May 20, 2013 Report Posted May 20, 2013 I would have liked a bit more wearing down and beating on each other personally but it was brisk and interesting at least. not sure I'd call it necessarily good.
