Here comes Dennis Rodman. This was a pretty huge deal in 1997.

People forget how huge Rodman was at this point. He was a borderline A lister for a period in the late 90s. Even got a few movie deals

Rodman is so memorable. My wife is not even what I would consider a casual sports fan and it is unlikely that she would know who David Robinson is. Yet, we were playing "catch phrase" and was assured that the female team would not know Dennis Rodman.

 

Sure enough as soon as the card was flipped and multi colored basketball player was mentioned, we were sunk.

Rodman was the league's most notorious player now on the league's best team, was all over MTV in addition to TNT, and Double Team was pretty heavily hyped at the time though I don't think it did much at the box office.
